Every nation has organized crime. They come in a variety of flavors.

Oh lord, those rapists are in a metric shit-ton of trouble. One, they've messed with the mafia. And two, Israelis are hardcore. More hardcore than American Kirby, even.

... did Tongpu just imply that this was an acceptable way to get justice/revenge on the Israeli mafia? Seriously not cool.

Be not afraid...

Surely there are more efficient and less morally-reprehensible ways to damage a Mafia branch than raping the boss's daughter? I don't think you can even begin to describe this as striking a blow against organised crime, even if they knew who she was.
I agree about this not being an efficient or significant blow. Hence my wish.

No. I don't subscribe to the concept of "justice".

Well, if you want them punished, it would be far simpler to keep them out of jail...
Would judges even be allowed to do that though?

Depends how sadistic the judge is and how willing they are to bend the rules. And perhaps whether or not this crime lord pays/blackmails them, depending on how powerful and/or determined this mob is.

I don't find this funny. It's just really moronic. I wonder if they knew who she was?

Either way, rape is rape.

Incidentally, what's the name of this crime family? Do they just call themselves the mafia, or are they known by a surname or slang name, or what?

Usually we call crime families either "Mafia" or simply משפחת פשע, which just means "crime family".

Why is this news and why should we care?

And the Mossad are heard of even when they succeed. In the seventies Palestinian spokespeople roamed europe, searching for support, explaining the Palestinian situation to the unaware European public. They were known in the leftst circles. They all died. Nobody doubts they were murdered.

You should care because an innocent girl was raped. It's news because it happened recently. It's here because the circumstances of the story are interesting and amusing in a way that I thought would appeal to tropers.

all the innocent girls in he world that get raped, a Mafia princess isn't high in my priority compassion list. There are millions before her, whom I care not for, and I don't think she's worthy of being promoted to my Monkeysphere above them. And I don't think it's amusing, I think it's depressing. A known-mafia-family is an oxymoron for me: either nobody knows they are mafia and they stay out of jail, or they are known to be mafia and they are in jail. Being known to be mafia and being free is just absurd. If society deems organized crime necessary for social balance, institute a freaking Thieves' Guild or whatever, so that it's regulated and not crime anymore. As for the kids, sadism in a judge is unacceptable, and I am not glad of their situation, I don't suscribe to Pay Evil unto Evil. I also think they were suicidally stupid, but the Mafia is not to be allowed to lay their hands on then, that would be a defacing of the power of the Law and the Judicial System, which would be a show of weakness from the State, and make people feel even less safe than they already do.

Seriously?

Yes. I hope the mafia gets to them before the cops do. If not, they'll be looking over their shoulders in prison for the rest of their short, miserable lives before somebody puts a shank in them. Good riddance.

Thumped: for switching the discussion from the topic to a person. Doesn't take many of this kind of thump to bring a suspension. Stay on the topic, not the people in the discussion.

I think this thread has come to the end of its useful life. Outrage has been expressed, as has glee at the thought of what will happen to the rapists.

Locking.
