[up] Neither of those look like they're from the movie; are they official art or fan art? (If the latter, do we have permission from the artist?)

EDITED IN: On second thought, it looks like it's just showing at day and at night, with nothing particularly demonstrative for night. Perhaps we could use screenshots from the movie, though I wouldn't know where to start on which to suggest...

The Wall E pics only rely on the caption, and the Toy Story picture just makes it look spooky at night. The Bioshock picture is still the best we have so far, since it shows the world being hidden behind and illusion. Granted, the caption is needed to explain it, but it shows both the illusion and reality.

The Pixar pics are decent, but I still think the Bioshock pic is the best overall.

The Toy Story 3 image is real conceptual art from the studio, which they released online for the film.

EDIT: The problem I have with the Bio Shock image is that, unless you've really played the game, it's kind of difficult to tell that those two stills come from the same world. To me it just looks like some interior of a sunny balcony randomly compared to one of the gates of Dante's Inferno.

At first I was that third was the best, but then... that's bad end for us, everyone else seems fine? Isn't the main point of thise trope being that world looks beautifull, but is actualy ugly inside?)or broken or something)

I think the third panel is great. We could probably use just the last panel. Although, those maggots are just made of cute. The Toy Story one's good too.

Also, The Bio Shock pic confuses me.

Toy Story 3 has a lot of potential for demonstrating the trope, so long as we are open to images involving more than one screenshot... and perhaps even if not. After all, the Prison Episode page image shows the toys in their cells, yet with a guard standing next to a row of children's blocks. (Not that I'd suggest we use that one, I'm just making a point about showing the crapsack part and a trace of the saccharine part at the same time. I still think we'll likely have to go for at least two screenshots though.)

It's just that there are so many different potential screenshots that I literally don't know where to start on deciding which to go for. If we were to use Toy Story 3 screenshots, what should we be aiming for in terms of which to use?

Maybe a shot of the room in daytime where the toys are running free, and then one of the nighttime shots showing the toys locked up?

[up] Just a heads up, Prison Episode has an image of the toys except Buzz locked up, with Buzz as a guard; I'm not sure whether that'd be a benefit or a drawback to using that particular screenshot for the bottom half of the image. (I know redundancy is discouraged, but I'm not sure about partial redundancy, seeing as how Villain Song shares an image with the top half of Dark Reprise.)

Now, I'm not saying that's the only option for them locked up, I'm just pointing that out for consideration if that screenshot is to be considered.

Another option involving the toys locked up would be of Lotso and the guards looking at the inmates; this would create contrast with Lotso seeming all kind and gentle earlier on.

That, and there's probably even options outside them being locked up for the "crapsack" part; them being filthy from being played with roughly comes to mind.

[up] That last option's a good idea to pursue.

[up] Using Lotso and the guards for the crapsack part, or using the toys played with roughly for all of it?

EDITED IN: For the former...

We're getting a bunch of submissions that we're all divided on. I suggest we get a crowner and be done with it.

I say we wait until we have more suggestions. The one from my post above yours was only for the bottom half of a potential page image.

Speaking of which, for the top half I'd suggest something of Lotso acting friendly; maybe something of him with a toy cat at one side and a toy dinosaur at the other?

I do like the third Bogleech Comic. I'd keep just the first couple panels with a link to the rest in the description in order to keep the squick level down and to keep in-theme more, though.

I'm liking just that big panel at the bottom of the last bogleech comic.

And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know.

For another alternative, what about using the "colourful but chaotic" version of Ponyville from MLP:FIM season 2 ep 2?

The value in its use as a page image is in being both colourful AND chaotic. Perhaps I didn't pick the best screenshot to reflect that.

Anyway, back to the Toy Story 3 suggestion, here's one screenshot juxtaposition we could use...
