Dividing the specials also, IMO, helped out Burning and Master Gundam. Chokkyu Ha'oh Den'eidan seems a lot more useful in the second and third games. As for Moonlight Butterfly as an air special, it's not an issue for me, just make the Turn A jump a bit before hitting the special button.
I do agree that Turn A's combo special in 2-onward (grenade throwing) sucks, though.
What a strange question.
Why would someone buy a Gundam game who hasn't watched some of the anime?
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Someone who likes blowing up robots and hacking through armies of enemies?
Hollow, the topic of this thread is the video game. It really doesn't matter if someone has watched the anime or not.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Are you sure that's what he said?
My life I trade in for your pain?
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelTHREAD. I HAVE PURCHASED GUNDAM DYNASTY WARRIORS REBORN AND I BID THEE RISE.
So, pretty good stuff, generally. Smooth, enjoyable gameplay. Burst mode is a great addition. I love blasting at battleships. Having a storyline for a non UC Gundam is fun, even if it's not my favorite alternate (in fact, it's kind of my least.)
Still some inexplicable decisions. Stepping back from cel-shading makes no sense to me. The mobile armor missions aren't what they could be, once the novelty of everyone else standing up to your knee wears off. Still no Sandrock or Altron, for all that we have the six billion Gundams from SEED. Schwarz Bruder is still running around in God Gundam even though his own machine's moveset practically writes itself.
I dunno. Feels more like a solid entry than a rebirth. I didn't waste the money I spent on it, but I probably won't go on a DLC rampage or anything.
Oh shit that's out now?
Indeed. It's digital only, so you can get it on PSN.
Oh that's why I haven't heard of it. Bah, I don't have a Sony system.
And I don't have PSN capability, so I have to import a disc from Europe.
Eventually.
After playing through Dynasty Warriors Gundam and loving it, I'm facing a dillema; would it be better to get 2 or skip directly to Reborn? What about 3? I've heard heavily mixed report about the sequel's quality and the ammount of recycled content.
ps: I know this is an odd question, but was the Qubeley nerfed? I love slashing shit up as the Qubeley : D.
Yeah, the Quebeley was nerfed, primarily the two Puru versions. I remember Haman's still being pretty good.
I'd at least give 3 a try, since it has a lot more variety in terms of mechs, but...yeah, the missions are really repetitive. Not much variety, take room, go to next room, take that, etc.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Also, its cel-shaded graphics are pretty neat. I think it's going to age pretty well.
Is it particularly worse than the rest of the series in that regard? Dunno how I feel about the map design seems to have shifted more toward interlocked rooms rather than open fields.
Ah, bummer.
The interlocked rooms seem innovative at first, but after a while it makes all the stages all samey.
Like, even more so than usual.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.I would actually suggest both 2 and 3. 2 has the better "original stories" for the assorted pilots (though some only have two or three missions to their name), while 3 tones down some of the UC overdose in exchange for more pilots/mecha from the other shows.
Each game also has some differences in how it plays.
I think there is probably some more mileage to be gotten out of 2 than out of 3, but 2 doesn't have Heavyarms Kai, the Unicorn, or the Double X in it.
Then again, 2's iteration of the Friendship mechanic adds a lot of Fake Longevity, while 3 streamlines it and makes it a lot better, so...

I SHOULD FINALLY BE ABLE TO GET MY HANDS ON REBORN.
I dunno exactly when, yet, but it should definitely be able to happen now.
AND IT WILL BE GODDAMNED GLORIOUS.
Also, I have almost 100% the first game now. All Official Modes cleared, all Original Modes cleared except for Haman and Roux.

The Moonlight Butterfly was in 3?
I dunno, relegating parts of 1's "evolving Musou" to certain actions (standing, jumping, or team attack) always struck me as kinda dumb to begin with, and the Turn A exceptionally got hit with the nerf stick hard solely due to how his Musous are divided. His most useful Musou is apparently his midair one, which you never have any reason to use, while his least useful is his team attack one...which means that if you do a double musou, your partner is going to be the one doing all the work while you throw bombs aimlessly. It seems kinda dumb.
At least the Turn A is still reasonably solid in 3 like it is in 1, but the way the Musous are divided pushes it down my favorites list.
