Well, I suppose that was always going to happen. What killed him?
The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books.@ whale [last page]:
All the Police are elsewhere?
I've heard rumours something might be happening where I am (Basingstoke, Hampshire). I'm partially locked down as a result. Anyway, Manchester — I know there too, I used to go on day trips from University to there (1 1/2 hours from Birmingham, so not too far).
It almost sounds like there's some organisation forming. Leaders, and dividing into smaller groups and moving fast so the police can't catch them...

Keep Rolling OnA man was shot and killed in a car in Croyden.
With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars.IHG, Wanna swap cities? Its gone far to quiet here.
Dutch LesbianI think that leaderships always been there. This was planned, damn it. Perhaps on very short notice, but its too coordinated to have been done completely on the hop.
At the very least there was a pre-existing criminal structure and base knowledge ready to put these kinds of criminal operations into practice.
EDIT: Shot? By police or gangsters?

@ Whale. Siren's gone. It's still way too quiet for my liking. I'm right next to the City Centre. Where you live?
@Greenmantle, No the county police forces only sent trained riot police to London.
IHG, I told you already, I am presently under lockdown on the outskirts of Wolverhampton.

They ransacked Aston Uni.
Oh, Crap! that was Midlands today this evening but I do hope I can use Wolverhampton Train Station on Friday afternoon or I'll be bloody hacked off.
Edit: Please dont insult me by calling me a Midlands boy, I live in South Cumbria

Dutch LesbianConsidering that groups have been getting trains out of London to other areas and starting stuff there this is defiantly being planned by some group somewhere.

Anyway, still too quiet.
Apparently groups of shopkeepers in London have gone vigilantly.
According to the BBC live feed London is quite though what with the massive police presence.

"And the Bunny nails it!" ~ Gabrael "If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we." ~ CyranAll of London is quiet because of the 10,000 extra bodies of police and the tonne of angry london people who are arming themselves. The rest of the country is just having a worse than average saturday Night with slightly more arson.
TBH? I think that things should stay quiet in London ESPECIALLY as there has suddenly been a huge increase in the amount of people who are mobilising against the rioters.
@ Green. They went through your old uni, mate. Apparently, they threw potatoes on campus.
My best friend is holed up in a hotel in Manchester right in the middle of the riots
Apparently she's alright, just has to stay inside, but that doesn't make things less scary.
The police have today arrested several people who have made comments on social networking sites encouraging more riots - including one in Glasgow. Glasgow is also showing a greatly increased police presence in the streets, even though there are no signs of the riots spreading here. Likewise Essex, I understand, though that's nearer to the riots so perhaps more at risk.

That ''pisses'' me off slightly. I know the people there, the Porters, some of the lecturers, the people at the Sports Centre...

Keep Rolling OnTomorrow we are going to see a large rounding up of people who have been looting, its not as if ALL of the stuff can get sold fast enough.
That, coupled with the fact that I'd imagine a lot of the people are known to the police, will probably mean that this won't last much beyond a week.
Green, I linked the live feed in the OP

I am visting a friend and the thought of it being a riot centre just isnt there for me.
Dutch LesbianI'm hoping for Rain. Lots of It.
Keep Rolling OnRain will pour down Birmingham like nothing. Apparently, 50mm.
2212: Chris Buckler BBC News
People are following us around with bags, asking where the riots are. There is no doubt that there is a great deal of opportunism going on here tonight in Manchester.
