Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

x2 Well, that explains the Winter Soldier references. Doesn't explain why they haven't realized they've run that premise into the ground.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Apparently those are the eps that got Feige's attention in the first place. It all comes full circle.
They treat it as a shocking major spoiler when that set (and the rumored spoiler) were already shown online months ago.

I wish Avengers Assemble would just be completely awful. The last two episodes were half decent and its giving me false hope.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI've always thought mediocrity was so much worse than actually being actively terrible. I feel for you, man.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Why, what did they do?
Oh God! Natural light!Jeph Loeb recently stepped down as head of Marvel Animation so that may be why.
Wait isn't there a thread for the show?
Well, they did a Secret Avengers episode which was basically just Cap's group that split from Tony because Tony was being Tony. And they have to go on a secret mission in Russia and tangle with some Russian superheroes who are so russian. One of them turns into a bear, is how russian they are. And at the end of the episode Fury tells Cap his next mission is... to take down Tony's Avengers! DUN DUN DUN!! Except we've already seen that. We've seen the resolution to that already. It happened in the very previous episode. Either the airing order got borked or the show makers have no idea how cliffhangers work.
And the most recent episode was an Ant-Man and Hawkeye don't like each other but then they learn to get along episode. Where we learn why Hawkeye doesn't like Ant-Man and goodness, which Ant-Man it actualy is. Still doesn't explain why Ant-Man has a Brooklish AI.
But before that we had a multi-part Ultron story which started with Ultron stealing all the energy from the Infinity Gems. And then it never came up again. His ultimate master plan did not even utilize him having stolen enough energy to rip the universe a new one. But the day was saved by throwing Ultron into the sun so the Sentry at least would be proud.
I looked for one a while back and didn't find anything. I'll look again.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersTake with a Dead Sea worth of salt, but wow. That stuff about Crossbones, combined with what we know about Sputnik's use in the comics, and the thing about Bucky needing everyone to be on his side by the end... noooooooo, I don't want to be right about The Death of Captain America...

It could be that but a lot of that just seems like drawing logical conclusions based off the set photos and stuff that has been officially said about the movie.
Kinda like all those "SHOCKING SCOOP! Tony Stark will build Ultron!" rumors. They were correct but mostly because people connected the dots rather than any "inside scoop."

Why is anyone worried about Cap dying? We know he's going to be in Infinity War.
Eh, might be just to throw off the theories. Quicksilver too apparently had a multi-film contract and yet he got offed soon.
That could just be so they can bring him back for flashbacks or hallucinations if they want him.
Quicksilver had a contract? I guessed he died in Ultron based on his actor's lack of a contract.
There seems to be a misunderstanding. A contract is not a guarantee that you will be brought back. Just ask Hugo Weaving. He has a multi-film contract signed for sequels and yet barring a surprise return in Civil War, it doesn't look like he's coming back anytime soon.
Hoping for Moondragon or a heavily modified Phyla-Vell.
True.
From how it's been explained to me, any time there is any potential for a sequel at all, a studio is going to sign an actor for a multi-picture deal. The studio is rarely under any practical obligation to bring the actor back even if the sequel in question gets made.
In the case of Quicksilver, even if they had already made a final decision regarding his fate in Age of Ultron and swore a blood oath to never resurrect the character in the MCU, they still would try to sign the actor to a multi-picture deal just so they could have the actor on call for any potential vision/flashback/dream sequences.

Yup, and in some cases actors are even bought out of their contracts. For instance, Billy Dee Williams appeared in the first Batman movie and was contracted to return in a future installment. When the new director wanted to recast the role with someone else (Tommy Lee Jones), the studio simply paid Williams' salary (And presumably any sort of penalty fee) and he was on his way. They had to do the same thing to the original actor they'd chosen to play Robin, too.
And heh it's funny you mention that because flashbacks and visions were exactly what came to mind when I heard people speculate that his contract means he could come back.

Indeed. The thing about contracts is that any contract worth the paper it's printed on is going to have clauses and such specifying what happens if the terms of the contract aren't fulfilled. So, even if Quicksilver stays well and truly dead and appears in no more films in flashbacks or visions, Aaron Johnson is set either way.
Chris Evans pretty much confirmed that he will be on set to film Invinity War, though. It could be a misdirect, but it really sounds like he has an important role in it
But will he be playing Captain America, or an evil clone and/or alternate universe doppleganger of Captain America?

There's an elevator in Greendale?
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.
