The Descendents Of Transplanted Humans Return For A School Trip.

If the ages vary a lot, that implies that it was difficult to get in—unless there's just a schoolful, I can't think of another reason. Why do they abduct a kid and how does the teacher feel?

Kid catches disease of them, they stick him in stasis, since they don't have the medical tech to help him with them. Poor kid comes to as the ship is passing Alpha Centauri. Oh and he can't go home, the medical AI didn't know she was only mean't to cure his virus and gave him a course of genetic perfecting. Everything that can be, was enhanced and they've put what amounts to a microscopic iPhone in his brain, they can't let him go home since having a genetically enhanced kid running around on Earth will cause issues. "I'll give the good Doctor one thing, she's... thorough."

He was friends with one of the students.

Maybe the trip could be part of some PR thing, and the students were selected for it?

Also, anyone have any tips on playing with Human Aliens?

@Zolnier; (I just skimmed the thread, am about to go to sleep so apologies if I missed this) ...culture. Make the culture totally different (and play up the problems and possibilities inherent in two completely differing cultures interacting).

Example; if these guys are psychic, they may have an intense taboo about lying and falsehood (to the point of finding it atrocious that people conceal their thoughts out of habit, lead differing public and private lives, etc.); If psychic powers had always been present, this might grow out of it as a consequence.

So any ways some of the kid's living on space craft their entire lives could affect them?

That run-down little park in the middle of town with some dry grass and a few half-dead trees is GhibliHills for them...

How big is their space ship home?

How "sterile" are the ships? (Any plants and/or gardens onboard.)

Huge, basically a floating city, they have parks and stuff, but they wouldn't really seem very "natural" to perfectly maintained. So anyone have any thoughts on physical differences the space humans could have from Earthlings?

Either paler/ darker than normal humans and we speak unnaturaly paler darker here, wierd eye- and haircolours...

Any way them coming from a semi utopia could show?

Why not let the half-Raor kids have crazy anime hair-colours, go beyond the impossible (maybe one of them have hair consisting of four/five colours) and like we do we have natural hair instead.

Wait, I have an even better idea: switch colours according to mood or every ten seconds, from purple to green to black to silver to blonde to pink...you get the drift.

Anyone have any thoughts on playing with sapient starships?

Have you read any of the Brain/Brawn books by Anne Mc Caffrey? Those are good for sentient starships/bases, though that's because they have Brain in a Jar instead of AI. In short, the ship intelligence is not omniscient nor omnipotent, and they need physical helpers do perform various tasks. They also suffer sensory deprivation if they get cut off; an AI would probably get wiped to the last emergency backup.

Perhaps ship AI could be given full cival rights, including what ship they're installed in, maybe even transfer.

This may just be me, but I've always wanted to see a therapist/whoever giving psych evalutations to the whole crew...AI included.

That would be neat, also, any explanations for why the Raor don't gene tweak their low gravity induced weakness away?

Don't see a need to, maybe have a bit of their own reluctance to become "not Raor anymore"?

One of the things I'm currently playing with is the culture shock of Earth-based humans coming into contact with an organization that has literally no prejudices. Granted, my setting is military-oriented and so I can get an incredible amount of mileage out of a society whose gender breakdown in the military matches their population demographics perfectly, but I'm reasonably sure you could manage it or simply differing prejudices.
