It's not. Most examples are not about sex. The first line I guess is a little misleading if you only read the first line to decide what a trope is about.
People do that all the time, change the first line.
Fight smart, not fair.Sure. I was just saying the trope itself had a clear definition. Rewrote the first line. Good?
Better, yes. The Sister Trope mentions should probably get a look, though,
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Does anyone think it might be worthwhile to create a Special Efforts thread for cleaning up this and related tropes? Until recently this was a lot more specific then it sounded like, and I know for a fact that both Boldly Coming and What Measure Is a Humanoid? have had confusion with this in the past.
On an unrelated note, is it just me, or is there a weird emphasis on animals in the description? Specifically, the passage here:
I don't really understand it.
Yeah, that is really weird.
Though I sort of possibly get what they mean with animals. People think of a tiger and a lion getting together as pretty cool, and not really weird because they are both big cats (yay, ligers!) But if a human and some other kind of extremely humanoid creature, to the point that they basically look human get together in fiction (like Space Elves) then people flip out.
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)I think "people flip out" may be a bit extreme. Nobody seems to mind Kirk's conquests, for one obvious example. But I agree that people are more likely to flip out if one member is human.
Overall, I have to say that I'm really impressed with how much this trope has been improved in just the last few months. Good job, everyone!
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.
Is it all just about the sex?
If that's the case, then the title is euphemistically broad, and non-sexual romances are technically misuse.
If not, the description needs a tweak because that's precisely how it introduces us to the subject.
