Anyone else excited for Dragon Nest?

If you don't know what I'm talking about, click here. Open beta starts in two days. Anyone else care?

I'm really excited myself. I've heard some pretty good things about it, and it seems promising. I'm just hoping it's as much fun as it looks. Heck, even my brother is interested, and it's been years since he's shown interest in an MMORPG. It'll also be my first time participating in an open beta, so it'll be a new experience for me.

I don't mind too much that it's being run by Nexon, by the way, since I've been playing their games a while. I've pretty much gotten used to putting up with their crap. That's not to say I like it, but I can tolerate it.

So is anyone else interested? I know there won't be much to talk about until it opens up, but if you've got something to say, put it here.

Oh hey it looks interesting, and more importantly, has a healing class. Count me in.

I am, however, a little disappointed that there is no Magic Knight class aside from Paladin. I like it when I can use fireballs along with my sword.

Ah well. I think I might make one of the Archer classes.

We can play tomorrow! :D -can't wait-

Though I just found out that the game opens up at noon. I was expecting it to be earlier...but meh, I'll live.

From the preview it looks like a chibi version of Vindictus.

Well, sort of.

The combat engine is kind of the same, but if you take a gander at the classes you'll find long and involved skill trees, giving you more combat options than Vindictus.

I'm also willing to bet that there isn't as much of a focus on carefully dodging and timing your attacks so as to exploit the enemy's attack patterns.

They'll be similar, but just a bit different. Whereas Vindictus reminds me of Ninja Gaiden somewhat, I think Dragon Nest will be closer to Dynasty Warriors or something like that.

I might try it simply because Acrobat looks interesting.

Ew, Vindictus. Fun engine, but way too repetitive in terms of enemies, so screw that, not to mention it constantly thought I wasn't American and kept kicking me. So long as it manages to rectify those two problems, I'll be happy with it.

[up][up] Yup, it's free.

TWO AND A HALF HOURS OMG. Unless it's delayed, which is entirely possible...but I really hope that's not the case.

Not exactly, but it's still restricted. You have to be from the U.S, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.

If you're not, you can still play on the "SEA/Global" server, but you have to wait until August for open beta. I don't have a link to that, though. You'll have to find it yourself.

Okay, this sounds EXACTLY like my thing. Till I can get my MMORPG ideas published, this will be the next best thing.

DN for me was the first modern MMO I saw that used a TPS control scheme instead of being mouse+hotkeys like the Lineage... lineage. However, it's starting to show its age compared to some of the other titles like C9 and especially Blade&Soul. I'd even argue that apart from the slower pace Vindictus actually has a better system.

Well I played the low levels on both Mage and Fighter. Heres a few thoughts from my leveling

  • Why the hell am I regularly getting 30 second loading screens even switching from area to area in a dungeon?
  • Almost All mage attacks are decent. My personal favorite so far is the toxic spray which creates an area of AOE in front for several seconds.
    • That staff attack is awesome too since it does so many attacks in a short time.
    • Do not take on Dragon Cultist on hard mode if you don't like dying seriously that guy is EVIL
  • Breakables are a pain in the ass to deal with as a mage.
  • Dont bother keeping the quest set items. You can enhance better
    • Enhance all enhanceable items you can use to +6 seriously enhancing multiplies the power of a item at low levels
      • If you feel lucky or have multiple of an item you can go even higher
      • Enhancing is cheap I mean REAL cheap
  • Warriors are plain awesome all of their swings are AOE.
    • I used a hammer since an enhanceable one dropped
      • Also I got lucky and managed to make a set of+9! Vigilante gauntlets

Archer at low levels is capable of ridiclous aoe. I'm just hoping when I convert to acrobat that it's worth the loss xD
