Cleanup ("Nakama" is still all over the page): True Companions

Now that we've renamed Nakama, the page needs cleanup since it makes 220 references to "Nakama" (in plaintext) and I'm not going to pretend to know enough about the works in question to put a dent in it.

Also, the One Piece part may or may not need some substantial rewriting to reflect the fact that it is no longer the Trope Namer.

Fast Eddie is going to do the cleanup automatically with a script. That hasn't happened yet, but will soon.

Eddie hasn't yet run his database sweep that will automatically change all references to Nakama to True Companions. Clean up isn't needed.

Does that include plaintext references, though? I thought that the database sweeps just changed wicks, not any mention anywhere on the wiki.

That can get plaintext too? Huh, I though it was only good for links.

We'll need to wait on Eddie confirming that, but as the sweep hasn't run yet anyway, I still think this is premature to be honest.

Even with a database sweep, we might have to go over phrases like "A True Companions".

I requested that this be locked if it turns out that I misunderstood the effects of the database sweep.

The sweep will change all instances of Nakama to a link to True Companions, whether the instance of Nakama is a link or not.

Then the people who insisted on a plural form for the name of a collective relationship will get to look through the wicks and fix the places where the plural form no longer fits the sentence.

And we'll still need to fix a hell of a lot of wicks for alphabetization purposes.

I think I fixed most of the ones on the main page. (I left alone examples in which the actual word used seems to have been "nakama.")

Changed it to "true companions," no wick everywhere it was "nakama," no wick, "true companion" every time it was one member of the crew, "crew" in a couple of places where the term seemed more appropriate, and "true-companion x" in certain instances where "nakama" was used as an adjective.

I also just outright altered a few sentences so that "true companions" or "true companion" made sense.

Do we still need this thread open? If so, shouldn't it be in Special Efforts, since it would require large-scale collaboration to perform?

What ever happened to the global search and replace that Fast Eddie was going to do? I've been holding off on attempting any general cleanup because of that (though I have gone in and fixed the use on some works pages, since those will need to be re-alphabetized in any case).

edit: hrm, I saw that Nakama was still On 2942 page(s), didn't notice the True Companions is found in: 3038. What did happen?

The number for True Companions includes the number for the redirects.

Have the wicks been fixed yet.? Changing the page itself is all well and good, but that's only half the job.

I haven't run the script yet.

Then I'm going to leave this thread open so that the fact that the clean-up still needs to be done isn't forgotten.
