Well in the end, I sat out of the match in the favor of Xiphoniii at the last second.
I was busy in RL and distracted by other games, so I didn't managed to practice TF 2 for several weeks, to the point of me getting pretty consistently owned on Official Valve servers in a few practice rounds before match, so in the end I am kinda glad I didn't have to play.
I had a dreary feeling it would be embarrassing to everyone involved.
Good luck with the match guys (and girls)!

Has a compulsive editing and re-editing disorder. It was kinda horrible.
"Teebs is a total grump, but he's usually right." - NLKI am pretty sure they had bad sportmanship. Anyway I would really like to what was up with the server config that it kept restarting after the middle time.
There was no "kinda".
Things were going fine, albeit more of a stalemate than I'm happy with. We were 1 to 1—then halftime restarted the match when we were literally seconds away from the last cap.
Then Morg and his sister both had to leave, leaving us down two players (even though as Lizard mentioned we had extra players at the beginning, but Lizard went offline because it's really late where he lives).
We got Pterosaur (Teebs's roomate) to sub, but that still left us at 8 vs 9. We asked if we could do an off-roster sub, but one guy (their Scout), said no and just started being a complete jackass, doing things like spamming stupid texts at half time and even during the match. He even challenged someone to a duel in the middle of the match.
Even worse, something was going seriously wrong with the match recording: the winner is whoever gets 5 caps first or who has the most caps after 30 minutes. But then after half time they got one cap something like 10 minutes in, and the config treats it like they won the whole match.

Eh, IDK if I'd say they were exhibiting reportable poor sportsmanship. They certainly weren't what I'd call pleasant, but they weren't super rude either.
"Teebs is a total grump, but he's usually right." - NLKI was challenged and it ended in a stalemate at 1 point each.
Not reportable but still bad one, though I will not call all the team out, I think there was one or two guys that tried to be nice.

Yeah, it was really just that one guy. Most of the rest of them didn't say much.
I thought it was like half their team lol. Their soldier and I were buds. He was my hat. There were some other chill guys too.
Still, my definition of sportsmanship does not include repeatedly taunting the opponent and intentionally trying to piss us off.

I agree that most of what they did was not lose-worthy bad sportsmanship except the duel challenge, because that is a borderline exploit. Strange weapons were banned back when they gave a toaster popup to both teams at almost impossible to control times—this gives a specific player a popup whenever you want to.
However, Joaqs, you really shouldn't have accepted that duel.
In unrelated news, a Pencil Pusher dropped for me while waiting for the match to start, so at least it's not a total loss.

I didn't know that dueling was banned.
I can't find a rule that specifically bans Dueling Minigames, but I do think it would fall under bad sportsmanship.
I'll e-mail UGC and ask for a ruling.
EDIT: OK, the guy said it's severely discouraged but not so much that it would overturn a match.

That is the worst luck possible. When you commit yourself for a match, you'd damn well better stay for the whole thing. Defeat snatched from the jaws of Victory, ouch. You have my sympathies.
From the sound of things, the players who left had no choice in the matter.
"Teebs is a total grump, but he's usually right." - NLKIt was me and my sister, we had to leave because our mother needed help with something and would not take no for an answer.
"That stupid game isn't important, give your mother some damn help around here."
If you're curious, our washer and dryer are broke and we had to haul baskets of cloths to the Laundromat, go with her there, and haul them back after we got home.
Here is the write up of the match from the UGC page:
Lovely...
:smug:Yeah seriously, my inner Grammar Fegelein was going nuts.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyAnyone want to play? Help me shake off some rust?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyDoes this means we have a match this Monday?
If we do it hasn't been decided with who yet because they're still planning out the tournament brackets.

Nothing in the leader panel yet.
:smug:We're up against [TC] on pl_upward. :P
I thought all teams made it to next week's start of the elimination playoffs?
