Maybe a Bit Too Subtle : Blooper

I think the current image requires a bit too much explanation to illustrate the trope and I believe there could be a much simpler and clearer image to use instead of this one. This discussion branched off from this post in a Trope Repair Shop thread about this trope. The following is the current image.

This Princess's lovely cape can apparently move to her other arm in between panels.* No, she couldn't have shifted it. It's too bulky and heavy (especially with the trimming of Gem-Encrusted ermine) to do it that fast.

I recommended in the TRS that we show a menu option like on a DVD.

How would a menu option show the trope? Also, I would think any blooper would need some explanation to show something was not supposed to happen. Also, I'll shorten the caption anyway.

Perhaps there's a comic panel of a director shouting at people screwing up a take.

I was thinking of the bonus features of a DVD saying "bloopers". That was about it. I can also remember that they'd occasionally show bloopers during the credits.

That would show the word "bloopers" or "outtakes", which would be meaningless.

I think we could preserve the manga panels if we added in arrows and text saying "Right arm" and "Left arm".

Hmm, I think we should be able to do a lot better. It's a minor art/prop continuity mistake that you'd have to be looking really close to even notice. And given the way comics work, while unlikely, it's not impossible that there would be sufficient time between panels for the character to have shifted the cape for some reason.

Well the word balloons make it clear that the maid is answering Marie's question almost immediately. We could adjust the text to make it larger.

Eh, even after it's pointed out, I can barely even see it in the 2nd image. Everything is so puffy and frilly that it isn't very noticeable. It technically fulfills the requirements, but I'm all for replacing it with something more obvious.

Clock is set. Any other thoughts on the suggestion?

The arrrows are good enough. The caption saying it moved was good enough. Its subtle and correct.

I really think we can do much better. Moviemistakes.com has a lot of images. The Porsche damage from Commando or famous Stormtrooper bonks his head bit in Star Wars come to mind.

Yeah, the manga one is nitpicky.

Yeah, I really hate the current image. There's a wide world of bloopers out there that would nicely demonstrate the trope. I think the porsche or the head knock are both good. But yeah, we can definitely do better.

And those two examples might not even be the best ones we can come up with - they were just two that came to mind.

Stormtrooper one could be made a notch better by adding a little *bonk* sound effect to the one in the background.
