Okay, all of the examples seem to be X Just X, the page example section is built in a rather weird fashion, and there appears to be some kind of Take That! directed at either Anime or Western. I think it's supposed to be a joke about which side uses it more? I think using "lover" is a particularly obtuse pun instead of "of".

Fixed the structure of the example section and removed "Anime 1, Western 0.]]

I think we can get more Western Animation examples if we list this on a non-anime index.

It would also help to change the banner to the standard "examples of this trope" because saying "appears in these works" just invites X Just X entries.

Hmm this page hasn't grown much since the image picking thread a while back and I suggested that image on the page....

Do not like that title though it's trying to play on English (slur love and it comes out tug of war.) it's as bad as To Love Ru (Trouble).

Yeah, the slurring doesn't help. Lover Tug of War would help a lot. Also, at a minimum, we should be given the three+ characters involved.

Why the heck is it not Tug Love War? To be clear, I emphatically do not advocate that as a new name, but it at least sounds like an actual pun, which is what I assume this was going for. Tug Lover War is just nonsensical.

I would prefer Lover Tug of War. It makes sense. I have no idea what the current name means.

I was about to say "cut for being an X Just X", but renaming to Lover Tug of War should work.

How about, uh, Tug Of Love? Tug Of Lover? Just throwing that out there. Agree that the previous name flowed like a river of bricks.

Edit: Current. Current name flows like a river of bricks, I oughta say.

I say change the title to Lover Tug of War.

Do we need a crowner? Is anyone going to defend the current title?

I am fine with Lover Tug of War. I do understand the current title but not defending it at all.

Lover Tug of War is good. Tug Of Love sounds like a handjob. The current title is just bad.

Another vote for Lover Tug of War. The current title is painful to read.

I suspect the pun works (slightly) better in a non-rhotic accent, like RP or Bostonian. As a thoroughly rhotic speaker myself, I agree that it's painful and awkward. Lover Tug of War works for me.

I assumed it was a play off of Tug Rope War.

With the lover taking the place of the rope.

Seems like a fine name to me.

I don't see why we need to change it or why the suggested names are better.

[up] Maybe that's the problem, then. I have never heard the game called Tug Rope War. We just call it Tug of War, where I'm from; there's no reference to the rope.

Single-prop crowner attached.

Like the turtle above me, I've always heard the game referred to as tug of war, not tug rope war.

I've never heard of Tug Rope War either. Google doesn't seem to have any references to it save for people linking search terms for people trying to find Tug-of-War ropes.

Why can't I make a new thread in any forum right now? This is the only way I can post at the moment. If I try to make a new thread, all I get is an empty page.
