Speaking of which, do you think Tri will have a Complete Monster? Most Digimon series seem to have them; it's like a fucking tradition. (the D-Reaper doesn't count since it runs on Blue-and-Orange Morality)

Count on it.

The question whether it's human or Digimon.

It can go either way considering we have the Government in play.

If Daemon shows up in Tri, he might be a good candidate. They should also flesh out his character more since he was just a Generic Doomsday Villain in 02.

We technically don't even know if his goal was strictly doomsday. He never got around to talking about his endgame, that I can remember; all we know is that he wanted the dark spores.

Despite being based on a demon, it feels like 02's Daemon leans less devil and more squid.

He could have been planning something similar to V-Tamers' Daemon, and was trying to Digivolve into a Super Ultimate Digimon.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the discrepancies between Tri and the 02 ending are happening because the series is actually taking place within MaloMyotismon's illusion.

Sounds lame, but it would actually fit rather neatly with what we've seen. The narration at the beginning of the series was a clear reference to Gnosticism, an ancient religion that preaches that reality itself is an illusion created by a malevolent false god.

Umm... May I ask what is this 'Rebellion' thing you mention over and over in regards to tri?

Madoka Magica Movie, Rebellion.

Cue Meiko becoming Lilithmon for this verse.

Basically it's the sequel to Madoka Magica in which it deconstructs common fanfic tropes (adding a new character to an established cast and making things lighter and softer) by revealing that it's all in an illusion world. It ends with one of the most infamous moves in Anime history and it, along with Rebuild of Evangelion 3.0 is why I had kneejerks with Tri upon seeing first five minute preview of it.

It's also probably the least understood endings in anime history but that's neither here nor there.

Upon seeing Meikuumon’s abrupt transformation and killing of Leomon, before disappearing to the other side of the distortions, Taichi and co. are unable to hide their agitation.

“If Meikuumon has been infected, I want to know what caused it. Could there have been initial symptoms? When did the infection occur?” While coming to terms with the situation that has gone beyond his imagination, Koushiro wracks his brains on what he can do to counter it.

However, finding no effective methods, he presses Meiko with questions in order to get whatever information he can. “Please, you have to remember. We need more information in order to figure out the cause of infection.” Meiko, hanging her head, is unable to answer…

Agumon and the other Digimon are kept isolated in Koushiro’s office in order to prevent them from infection, but signs of infection begin to appear in Patamon… At the same time, Agumon and the others learn an important secret about the Digital World through Hikari’s voice.

“The time… draws near…”

And when Meikuumon appears once more to battle them, that “time” arrives. Taichi and co. are agonized by the secret that was revealed to them. As each of their feelings intertwine, they make a decision. “If I wait to do something ‘someday,’ I’ll end up a grown adult before I even know it.”

Now, the adventure evolves once again…

Seems like shit's finally about to get real. Kinda glad too, the slow pacing of Tri so is starting to remind me why I didn't like the beginning of Tamers.

I'll be very okay with this possession if we actually get some details on Homeostasis this time. We've had that loose end hanging unresolved for nearly two decades now.

Edit: Perhaps we should be spoiler-tagging this for the sake of people who were avoiding prerelease info.

Honestly, does anyone miss the days when Plesiomon was Gomamon's Mega, and Vikemon was Armadillomon's Mega?

I didn't know that was a thing.

Yeah, back when the D-3 virtual pets came out, you could either get one with access to Veemon and Wormmon, one with Hawkmon and Gatomon, and one with Armadillomon and Patamon; you could use all ten Digieggs at the time with them, and all of them could reach their Champion stages, exception being Gatomon whose only difference was her getting her tail ring back in Champion. After that you could Jogress the two from each version together to get their Ultimates, with the form being dependent on the main fusee; ExVeemon and Stingmon would get you either Paildramon or Dinobeemon, Aquilamon and Gatomon would get you either Silphymon or Angewomon, and Ankylomon and Angemon would get you either Shakkoumon or MagnaAngemon.

Now, after that, you could actually get their Mega Digivolutions by Jogressing them with one of the Ultimates of the original Digidestined; Paildramon and MetalGreymon to Imperialdramon, Dinobeemon and MegaKabuterimon to GranKuwagamon, Silphymon and Garudamon to Valkyrimon, Angewomon and Lillymon to Magnadramon, Shakkoumon and Zudomon to Vikemon, and MagnaAngemon and WereGarurumon to Seraphimon. Now, despite Brave Tamers, Digimon Digital Card Battle, and Digimon Pocket World making Shakkoumon > Vikemon and Zudomon > Plesiomon a thing for years, at some point it shifted to Vikemon becoming Zudomon's Mega, with that being more constant as time with on; at that point either Armadillomon had to accept being the only Partner Digimon from the Adventure series that had to share a Mega with someone else in the same series, or he had to give it up entirely, which has led to SlashAngemon, and more rarely Lampmon, being used as his Mega. Don't have to even say that SlashAngemon makes it seem like more of an alternate Mega for Patamon, due to the consistent angel theme it gets pass the Rookie stage.

Slash Angemon at least looks like it could conceivably evolve from Shakkoumon without additional jogressing. Vikemon does not resemble Angemon, Ankylomon, or Shakkoumon in the least (which might not be unusual for digimon as a whole, but is pretty weird for anime-spotlight digimon), and looks so much like Ikakumon that it would be weird not to have him in the same line.

Shakkoumon is much more Angemon than Ankylomon as well. We're any digimon specially designed to be Ankylomon's ultimate stage?

I tend to imagine Patamon and Armadillomon's mega being either ClavisAngemon or Shakamon.

I just feel there's been a huge missed opportunity here. Paildramon visually has elements of both X-Veemon and Stingmon; Sylphimon visually has elements of Tailmon and Aquilamon; Shakkoumon is thematically connected to Angemon, not thematically connected to Ankylomon, and has visual elements of neither. They passed up the chance to make an angelsaurus, and that bothers me.
