He made me want to go out and get Ghost Dog.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Ghost dog is pretty damn awesome.
And yeah, the bit about him covering just the most offensive stuff harks more back to the origins of the show, when he really did pick movies based on shock value (though Shortbus is not that offensive, it just has staggering amounts of sex in it).
the statement above is falseActually, I think that movie was just voted on by the 5P - and it received three angels, so the page might come back.
...A moment of silence for all the lost souls, if you will.

Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.I find it funny that Oan didn't point out his slide away from offensive art with the Cinema Snob crossover. You could argue originally they covered the same territory except Oan's movie had the True Art Is Offensive pretensions. He's still treated by some people the same even when he took a look at a larger variety of arthouse movies.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.@Shortbus: That's another one he made me wanna check out, but I looked it up and it's prohibitively expensive on Amazon and isn't on Netflix.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. No, I never understood this comparison. Expolitation movies are usually cheaply produced, made to appeal to the people who enkoy gratuitous sex and violence. Arthouse movies are made with some sort of artistic thesis in mind, and use sex and violence as symbolism. The end product may seem similar, but the narrative and style of the movies tend to be different.
the statement above is falseDunno if you've seen, but there's a commentary on To Boldly Flee with Kyle in it, and in part 7 they make an offhand mention about what sounds like another Brows Held High musical review. And Kyle mentions in it that he has to research The Magic Flute for it...so, any ideas then for what that might be? There's a few films mentioned on that opera's Wikipedia page, one of which is from Kenneth Branagh (and, bizarrely, one involving The Smurfs...).

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. So it begins...
I can't have you close, so I become a ghost and I watch you, I watch you.Wow...that was a visceral reaction.
All the Ewoks will look up and shout, "Save us from the Klingons!" And I'll whisper, "Why so serious?"This movie is 2012's A Serbian Film as far as the review goes. Sadly the end sketch was no where near as funny.
And the movie... Wow it was just depressing on so many levels, just a terrible movie, where terrible things are done by the terrible main character.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing. The end sketch kinda felt like it was there because he didn't want to talk about the movie anymore.
All the Ewoks will look up and shout, "Save us from the Klingons!" And I'll whisper, "Why so serious?"Yeah... The issue is that he could have just ended the review where it was.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.I don't know. True it got pretty old, but Phelous defending Lupa like that was rather lovely. And hey, I can never say no to character angst even though nothing will change.
I cut up one dozen new men and you will die somewhat, again and again.I'm sorry but I'm sick of characters talking about "Reviewer dibs" It's been a conversation had many times on this site so I would have significantly shortened that last bit.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.yeah, that skit went on a bit longer than it should, but it was pretty funny once it got to its conclusion.
Also, some great gags in the episode. note also credits "2 Girls 1 Cup Theme by Satan Himself"
the statement above is falseThe review was a bit... meh, compared to Kyle's usual output, in my humble opinion. It wasn't subtle enough. Granted, Vase de Noces isn't a film that lends itself well to his usual analytical style—depraved moments aside, nothing happens—but this just felt like a letdown, especially considering how excellent the review of The Idiots was.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.I thought it was great. I do prefer his more subtle reviews over his more reactionary reviews, but I think this had to be done in this way.
Also, brilliant use of The Beatles in the end.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.I found it funnier to watch him freak out because he's usually subtler, personally.
Text I feel is necessary to append to every post.Yeah, the contrast makes it so much funnier. Like I said, I prefer his more subtle reviews, but his over-the-top ones just crack me up.
So, after watching Magical Mystery Tour for the third or fourth time a couple of hours ago (thank you, friend who got me the deluxe Blu-Ray + Vinyl package!!), I have decided that I really, really want to see Kyle review it. Besides, if there's anyone who can make sense of it, it's him. I listened to the commentary that Paul Mc Cartney himself gave for the movie after watching it and even he didn't seem to be entirely sure what was going on at some points.
Really, I just want an excuse for someone on TGWTG to talk about The Beatles as a focus of a review, but this would probably be the best possible and most likely review. Besides, it's not like a movie being a barely comprehensible vehicle for a big musical star has stopped him before.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Plus he tends to be a bit subtler about his freaking out. I still get a laugh out of the way he shout-whispers, “It’s art!” in the A Serbian Film review.
It’s not so much constant shrieking as it is slow burn...trying to keep it together and, in the end, utterly failing (that nosebleed=perfect! Talk about “suffering for your art”).

Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883!From Kyle Twitter:
Who here said Ralph Oancitizen was Catholic?
Kill all math nerdsPossibly a misunderstanding from The Demons review where he said "he didn't go to Catholic school" which someone maybe assumed meant he was Catholic, just wasn't raised very devout, or something.
the statement above is falseIsn't Episcopalian like an American Anglican? Yeah, that's reasonably close. Less with the guilt more with the flamboyance, though, unless it's Low Anglican (which seems likely in the no-fun-very-Protestant USA).
A True Lady's Quest - A Jojo is You!
Correct. He did The Fall, that was something he really liked. Vinyl and Sleeping Beauty were pretty inoffensive (well, the latter was offensive in that it was boring). Ghost Dog was more awesome than "offensive".
It's not Kyle's fault that a lot of "art" is set out to offend.
