Destruction Derby 2 is a racing game on the PlayStation and is the second game in the Destruction Derby series. Players compete against other drivers in either circuit races or in, well, destruction derbies.

The game features the following tropes:

  • Always Night: The Liberty City track.
  • Announcer Chatter: There's an announcer for the races, who will comment on things like the player's current position.
  • Car Fu: The main appeal of the destruction derby mode, which pits the player against several other drivers in an arena.
  • Collision Damage: Crashing into other drivers damages them and the player's own car.
  • Covers Always Lie: Downplayed; While cars can catch on fire if they take too much damage, there's no explosions like the one on the cover.
  • Everything Trying to Kill You: The destruction derby mode, where all of the opponents blatantly target the player.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Thanks to the game's physics, trying to make an opponent crash during a race is a good way to also wreck one's self.
  • Jack of All Stats: The Amateur car is the most balanced in terms of acceleration, top speed, and grip.
  • Skill Gate Characters: The Novice car has the best handling but pathetic acceleration and top speed.
  • Racing Game: Despite the name of the game, racing is the main attraction since there's more tracks than there are arenas, and racing is the only way to unlock more tracks and even arenas.
  • Rule of Three: There are three cars that the player can choose from: Novice (white and purple), Amateur (white and red), and Pro (black and yellow).
