Well, the crowner has been pretty much exactly where it is now for the better part of a week. It's probably about time to call it that we don't have consensus for a rename.

[up]The crowner is in the positives for a rename, it just broke past a deadlock. We should give it time.

The crowner has been exactly where it is for days and it's 23 votes short of a rename.

It just boosted past the deadlock this morning. Plus it's only had what 49 votes out of the 1000's of tropers that come here. Seriously. And you want to lock it up after that few as it starts to pull ahead. No, thats not right. Policy or not thats not right.

I agree that there's really not enough votes to call it, but the "it just broke past the deadlock" argument doesn't hold that much water, since it's been bouncing back and forth between +1, -1 and 0 for about 24 hours. Is there a mod willing to put a clock on the crowner?

forgive me for asking a stupid question, but does anyone have an idea about what the rename should be?

I think crowners are supposed to run until it's stable. This one seems pretty but I'm not in a rush either way.

[up][up]Have you read the rest of the thread? There's been a few ideas thrown out. A couple I can see are Super Boobs and Most Common Fanservice.

There's no consensus to rename, so gathering possible new names is pointless, unless you want to go Redirect Farming.

2+ ya for progress.

As for my argument not holding water I've seen crowners being left open for weeks, so this one shouldn't be closed in just over a week.

Not to mention to even see that this crowner exists one would have to either be in the TRS or visiting the MCSP page, which really leaves all these votes up to chance.

Those crowners were actually moving. This one has gotten five votes in three days. It's pretty much reached the end of it's life.

It just bumped up by two in the past 12 hours. It's not at the end of it's life it's at the beginning, and once again it only has had like 50 votes.

At least Most Common Fanservice describes something.

[up]Agreed, and is much less Misleading. Maybe Most Common Comic Fanservice might work better though, or at least be more descriptive .

Big boobs are not fanservice, they're physical traits.

[up][up]If this were misleading, then people would be misled, but we've seen no evidence that anyone has been misled by this name. There's misuse, but it's clearly unrelated to the name (since "superpower" is right there in the name, and 100% of the misuse involves ignoring that word). It may be inobvious, but it's not misleading.

[up] So what's the trope? How are big breasts, specifically that size, used as fanservice?

[up][up]People are being mislead you don't think Breasts when you think Most Common Superpower, you think actual super powers not a trait that has nothing to do with super powers what so ever. There for the name is misleading.

Not too mention that the article even states that non-super powered characters can have them as well, which adds to it's misleading.

[up]Er, well... actually, that brings me to another point: the name of this trope is a bit negative, TBH. It implies that ''all'' female characters in comic books have large breasts. Couple that with the perception that all comic books are of the superhero genre, and it seems negative, like a trope that pities the media that it's in...

I'm taking this far too seriously, but this has been bothering me for a while.

[up][up] Do you have any evidence that people are confusing this trope with actual super powers. Evidence has been asked multiple times in this thread and it hasn't been given.

[up] How exactly it that Unfortunate Implication? Also the point of this trope is that almost all superheroines in the western superhero genre regardless of publisher, creator, and medium (this trope is not limited to comics) have big breasts.

As I mentioned before, this is actually an Enforced Trope in the comics industry. Go read most comic book art tutorials, and they'll make a big deal that Heroic Build and Most Common Superpower are not only acceptable, but pretty much required. You want Phoenix to be tall, buxom and shapely because when you draw Cloud 9 beside her, Cloud 9 has to look like she's ten years younger. There ARE exceptions (again, such as The Wasp, who is a rather flat adult and Wonder Girl, who is a buxom teen), but this is the easiest way to differentiate ages and seniority.

A-a-and...we're tied again. The chance of a 2:1 majority approving a rename appears vanishingly small. It's been tied for a week, only a dribble of votes are coming in, and the idea that we have to wait until "my preferred choice" wins, no matter how long that might take is ridiculous (and pretty obviously not going to happen).

I don't object to waiting a day or two longer, but it's really starting to seem pretty silly and pointless.

[up] Yep. Exactly. It's been stable for days. It's about six hours between votes. This crowner is dead.

I just got two more votes be them negative, it's still active. Ie Not Dead. Also it's not waiting out until my choice wins it's waiting out until something gets more than 50 votes in under a week. Like I've said before this issue won't even get proper coverage (as most renames, page action ectra) because it's only in TRS, my sig, and the MCSP page.

As for evidence me a couple of my friend who clicked on it and were like "well that not what I was expecting."

Which tend to be the default reaction.

I'm a ware MCSP is listed there as well but even it's examples points out :

  • The Most Common Super Power is not the ubiquitous combination of super strength, super speed, flight and nigh invulnerability. (You'd be forgiven for thinking it is, though.)

Pretty much cementing the fact that Massive Breasts is not what people think when they click on it.

Show wicks actually misusing it for some form of Stock Superpowers, Vyc. Saying "My friends thought this meant something else" is not valid evidence.
