Hey, about what weight class are we looking at here? A conventional werewolf of the Billy and the Alphas variety is not all that high on the supernatural scale (maybe the same as Karrin Murphy before the last few books); a Dresden-esque wizard is about two classes above that. I'm using the official RPG as a baseline for comparisons, BTW. I don't want to make a character who's consistently lagging behind everybody.

It's a bit varied, we've got what would be a Focused Practitioner, a White Council Wizard and some sort of a Scion, so it would be, again in FATE terms, be at "submerged" or just below that. Well, that's the catch-all, Felix isn't quite on the half-demon major league wizard-level, he ought to be on Alpha werewolf, potentially werewolf plus.

@Kino: don't knock them accountants. Leave one alone for long enough, and they'll be superdwarvenly tough and agile and can predict the future long after they're dead.

@slow: thanks. So...at least Up to the Waist, at most Submerged...hmm...

I have two concepts in mind. I'm thinking either a werewolf with a more fleshed-out backstory or a White Court virgin (i.e., born to House Raith, hasn't killed anyone through feeding yet, a bit like Inari). Neither one is that high up on the super-weight scale; a transformed werewolf, for instance, needs to be trained to utilize lupine instincts and skills, and the WC virgin doesn't get all that of a strength/reflex/toughness boost in exchange for becoming very hungry. (Also, there's the whole angsty-vampire thing to worry about, which is like fingers on a chalkboard to me.)

idea

Vampire werewolf, fuck yeah! (No, really! The thing is, it's theoretically possible to combine the two. A werewolf is just like a human who's learned one spell, and the vamps of the White Court are shown to have some talent for magic. As a White Court virgin, the character wouldn't have nearly the power of a true White Court vampire, but enough to give him a bit of an edge; the werewolf part of it adds a lot more flexibility to his power.)

The only downside of such a character is that it's got the potential for Mary Sue-ness if it's played wrong; if I promise to keep the wangsting under very, very tight control*

, will the GM at least consider it? If not, I can drop it down to a vanilla werewolf, but that's probably going to lag behind on the power curve.

If the GM says yes, I'll get to work on a proper character sheet.

Well let me have a look at the character sheet. If you make sure to play them without any Mary Sue coming through, then that's fine. If you start to stray off the track I'll just drop a skinwalker on you.

Contract

I, Sabre's Edge, understand the following: that this character has many traits indicative of potential Mary Suefulness; that this character's Dark and Troubled Past may open the door for long, irritating, wangst-monologues; that these are Very Bad Things.

I affirm under pain of pain and/or getting internet!bitchslapped the following: that the character shall not be played as a Mary Sue/Marty Stu; that while character development is fine causeless whining is categorically disallowed; that the character shall not be overpowered; that any attempts to seize the spotlight will be met by an appropriately entertaining and humiliating death.

That being said, character sheet!
Name: Miles Raith (alias Miles Raster)
Age: 20
Status: White Court virgin; "vanilla" werewolf

Description: medium height, slim build; black hair, European features. Normally wears loose-fitting clothing that's easy to slip out of should it become necessary for him to "go fuzzy". Easygoing, friendly nature often contrasts with paranoia of being a pawn in White Court intrigues.

Background: born to the Raith family of the White Court, Miles, much like his older relative Inari, initially had no clue that he too was part of the White Court, as standard planning by Lord Raith; thus his first feeding would have fully "turned" him. Fortunately, some other agency in the White Court—Miles suspects either Thomas or Lara Raith but has no way of proving it—arranged for him to learn about the details of the nature of White Court vampires and escape his family's intrigues as a teenaged refugee, still not a full vampire.

This was five years ago. With an idea of some of the supernatural threats out there and a very good idea of the intrigues the White Court is capable of, Miles managed to arrange, via the Paranet, for a trip to the Pacific Northwest to learn the werewolf capability from Tera West; this was needed as a way to even the odds slightly should the White Court send any threats his way, and incidentally fully cemented his spot in the Paranet. He keeps the "vampire refugee" part of his identity secret, since he knows the Paranet is aware of and despises the predation of the White Court vamps.

Currently Miles has found a job in Las Vegas and a spot in the local community college. His love life is something of a conundrum: he is capable of inciting attraction in any target girls to some degree but is deeply afraid to use it. On the one hand, he is aware that true love (c) has the capability to permanently remove the threat of vampirism; on the other, he is also aware that having sex in any other situation would kill the girl and turn himself into a full White Court vampire. Consequently he is currently an unattached bachelor, which has led to plenty of rumors in the local grapevine.

Abilities/Equipment: as a "virgin" White Court vampire, Miles has boosted physical attributes, including strength, endurance, and reflexes. These are not nearly as extreme as a true vampire, but he can keep pace in hand-to-hand combat with (most) trained martial artists, and is in very good physical shape for a human. As a wolf he is still learning the tricks of the trade, but he can fight fairly well already; the local werewolf circuit is rather thin, and as a result he doesn't have much of a pack to run with.

As part of his part-time job in a Wild West-themed casino, he has managed to acquire a .357 magnum S&W revolver, which he carries around, and a Marlin 1894 carbine in the same caliber, which he normally keeps locked up in the casino or at his apartment, and has been practicing with both for the cowboy show (and for effective monster deterrent); with either he is a decent shot. He keeps chalk in his pockets and a knife at his belt for more general work with the Paranet.

Given that we have so far only male chars (and i was bored) here a hypothetical (more for the fun of it) char...purely on the theory of an manga inspired character ;)

Name: Karina "Kay" Kuno

Age: 21

Gender: Female

Status: Scion

Description: Lean, around 1,70 m tall, fit and nicely, but not too much, endowed, has a very american figure but some Japanese facial features and long dark black hair, combined with very fair skin. Usually she will wear a long leather cloak with leather pants and thight body armor on the chest. On her tights she carries to black painted fairly high calibred Semi-Automatics and fingerless gloves together with armord bracers. Completing the outfit is a pink MP 3 player which headphones she always seems to have in her ears. She will always carry a nameless Uchigatana in a equally black wooden scabbard (Shirasaya). Along her upper spine the Kanji for "Demon Hunter" (悪魔狩人) have been tatooed upright. She's a bit of a tsundere.

Background: Karina was born in Boston, USA to a Japanese-American Couple. Living a relatively normal live until her Sixteenth Birthday during which Demons attacked her Birthday Party and slaughtered everyone, leaving Karina for dead. When she awakened she found herself in Japan, in a remote Village and her wounds beeing taken care of. There she found out that both her parents had been part of a hidden clan of Japanese Scions, dating back centuries. Originally shunned the village had found recognition by the ancient emperors as hunters of their own kind during the Reign of the twelfth Emperor of Japan. As Kay found out further, her parents had done something which had forced them to flee to America: marrying their own kind. This had been forbidden for the fear of the offspring of such a marriage beeing a full blooded demon, while a Clanmember marying an outsider would always result in a full scion. To prevent this every Women had to marry someone from outside the clan. Apparently her Grandmothers had both chosen Americans for this which had only increased the bond between both her half-American parents. Outside of the protection of their Clansmen however some Demons had choosen to ill them while they had the chance which lead to the attack on her Birthday party. After beeing told the whole story Kay had been given the coice to remain in the Clan as a keeper and "housewive" (ie caring for the warriors) or beeing trained herself, the clan accepting female fighters out of sheer neccessity to come up with numbers, and taking revenge.

Abilities/Equipment: Kay is a Scion and therefore stronger, faster, tougher, more endurant and more agile than humans. As it was by now unkown which demon exactly was responsible for originally creating the clan, they also have a very high sense of smell and taste, as well of the ability to see in the dark and enhanced hearing.. All this has been trained and hones to the point where she is a lethal thread to most the average demons and other supernatural beeings. As having grown up in America she is well versed in the modern world (more than most of her Clansmen) and technology, both Computer and weapons.

Her Sword has been forged by the Clan using old and secret means. Thus while it is extremly sharp is is also the next best thing to indestructible. Moreso as it is, for her Clan, an object of Faith (the believe in their Mission to protect the world from Demons) it can be used to great effect against supernatural beeings. While Kay believes in her Mission, having seen what happens when normal humans get in the crossfire of the supernatural, she is also greatly motivated by revenge which does sometimes hamper her ability to use her Swords Faith Powers to the fullest. That beeing said, a superstrong scion wielding an nearly indestructible sword is still a bad thing.

Note: The Swords Faith powers is similar to a cross or Harrys pentacle that it hurts supernatural beeings with a vengeance, especially if they get cut with it. It is however not even enar the League of the Swords of the Cross. Legend among the Clan says that the idea for the Swords has been inspired by Kusanagi.

Her prefered method of travelling is her black motorcycle.

(you don't have to take it seriously, it was done with what i know and the help of google and wikipedia)

Damn. I occasionally forget how close to manga and comic books the Dresden Files strays sometimes. That'd be a really good character to have in the RPG, but I feel that we've reached the limit for characters. Maybe if this works and we try it again.
