Hmmm, there's Eve, Six, Longram, and Ghost are space marines in a sense but the latter two are by technicality, I think.

Karnavan, nope, he's a space engineer butler.

Murasa's a navigator.

...You forgot Mina. And Norman. And Master Chief. And maybe Frost, if he hasn't been bussed. And if I were to take it even further, everyone on the Alliance's payroll counts too, since they work for a space navy. Thus, they're all literally space marines.

...Is it redundant now?

Mina is a sort-of.

Norman's mostly a space pilot.

So, all that backstory her being some sort of badass military rebel hero that goes through space and carves shit up with futurey stuff much like a space marine...isn't true?

And space pilots count as part of the spess merhen archetype. All that's needed is that they're "a kind of soldier that operates in outer space or on alien worlds". And his backstory more than qualifies him to be one.

...Unless you're operating on a different definition of "space marine" than I am.

I think Mina's backstory was retconned. Though, then again, the main reason for that retcon was to remove the Protosapien aspect from the character.

Well, her retconned backstory for her adult self is that she used to be part of the navy but quit for unknown reasons, dedicate herself to do independent tech work and swordplay for a few decades. The La Résistance against the Cipherius Empire recruited her very late in the war, details are unknown at the moment.

But yeah, she's a space marine in a way.

That and her adult life sound Mary Sueish to some people.
