I think it's supposed to about standardization of the default control schemes for games within the same genre.

I think this is about how people always chose the default options so on say a character select screen it starts off on character A (example Dynasty Warriors 1-7 and spinoffs always start off with Zhou Yun, Mass Effect's soldier class, Terra from Birth By Sleep ) and that's who everyone normally plays (at least at first) they are almost always top tier as well.

The examples are a freaken mess.
