What a difficult person! Sophia thinks. Her lively chatter has run dead against his stoic wall. Not only that, but he's so picky how she should address his name. His name! What's in a name? Juliet would ask. That which we call a rose. By any other name would smell as sweet.

Hell, she'd not mind the least if someone were to call her 'Soph', or 'Soe', or even 'John.' Just as long as they could see her for the personage she is, instead of the skin or clothes she wears. Where might she find such a man to meet on the Titanic? Alongside her aspirations for a new life, there comes a longing for a companion with who to share it with.

So without further ado, she says, "Adieu" to that who she must call William. That sinking feeling in her chest disappears too. Then she wanders back to her table, where her breakfast has gone cool over unattended waiting. She picks up her fork.

Inside, she lets out a wistful sigh. Perhaps there is no true love in the world; the kind of love which brings that endless joy to living. Or if there is, then none left for her to sup. A true tragedy.

William watches her leave, and he is instantly at ease. It wouldn't do to interfere with angels. Yes, that girl is an angel. She must be. He can't sense a single black stain on her heart. She's either a very skilled trickster or an angel, and neither is the sort of person that he wants too much exposure to. But he'd rather pretend that she's an angel.

The black and red smokestacks belching out wanton pollution into the hopeful sky immediately awed Mel. Back in his home, he never quite had a chance to see such old styles of nautical engineering, especially not on this kind of scale. However, after breathing in the intoxicating mix that was the harbour air, Mel felt he had enough of the open breeze and opted to return below the deck to the first class lounge. He got an odd chill down his spine from looking around at the deep water churning far below.

No, yes, no, yes. Perhaps the angel can help him, perhaps she'll only make things worse.

Bianca clings to his neck, silent and sad.

No, he needs open air. Without a word, William leaves the dining room and makes his way up to the deck, forgetting all about finding a meal.

"It might be a little difficult to find each other again," Flinn said. "On this ship. Supposed to be over three thousand souls, isn't that right?" He eyed the other man's clothes and luggage. "And if you don't mind me saying so, I don't think I'm strictly supposed to be mingling with the likes of you. What class ticket are you on?"

Children play and run on the deck, their parents chatting with each other. William sits on the deck and rubs his temples. If his child had somehow lived, despite not being ready to leave the womb when he did, he might be waddling here now, and Bianca might be nestled against his side, instead of this ghostly mockery holding a half-formed child out to him.

Would she ever turn him loose? Let him find a different woman without coming to him at night to remind him that she was in his life?

She won't tell him the answer, but he fears that he is right.

The lounge was decorated extravagantly. Beautiful tables and chairs of the greatest craftsmanship peppered the room, sitting richly dressed men and women, some chatting, some minding themselves. Boiseries covered the walls, carved with the most thoughtful and careful of hands, lending even more beauty to the room.

The finest of rooms aboard the Titanic. Truly, a great fit for first class.

Gabriel hated just looking at it.

"Here you are," she said, her voice particularly sour. "Is there anything else you need?"

It was 2 o'clock, and the ship finally began to move again. At last, they were going somewhere. Their next destination was Cherbourg, yes? That can't take too long.

"Daddy, I'm hungry."

Brought out of his thoughts, Adrian looked over at his daughter. "I guess we'll have to find something for you to eat, then."

"Okay!"

They got up and headed inside down the corridors, searching for a restaurant that wouldn't be full of smoke and drunk patrons, passing on by some people

in the first-class corridor before they came upon the door to a cafe on the veranda.

They entered, and discovered a simply beautiful little cafe that brought an English garden to mind. It was light, airy and inviting, the white wicker furniture bathed in sunlight from the wide windows that lined the wall across from them. A waiter greeted them, seating them at a table where they could watch the docks fade away into the distance.

Adrian and Sophia both ordered some tea, while Marla got her snack- apple slices, all the same size and arranged in a circle on the china plate.

Adrian compulsively checked the time again- a quarter to three.

William is only sure of one thing: he wants to make sure he didn't look like a complete jackass.

Back to the dining room, then, and hope that Sophia has not left. But he loses his way and, by some stroke of misfortune, is in what looks to be the first class part of the ship.

Why are they looking at him like that? He scowls back at them and tries to get away.

A herd of children scampers past, and he sidesteps them, bumping into Miss Rockwell.

Feeling someone bump into her, Gabriel whipped around and prepared a salvo of insults. "Are you asking for a boot up your arse, you son of a bit- Oh damn."

Adjusting her jacket to buy herself time, she smiled at William. "Sorry about that. Fancy meeting you here."

"Er... yeah." William glances inside the lounge. Mein Gott, what extravagance. "Hello. I have to admit, I'm kind of lost right now as well. Do you know the way back to the dining room? Not to treat you like a tour guide, but you just came from there and I sort of... wandered."

Finally, someoene to remind him that the fair sex is pefectly capable of being a heartless bitch. He needed that.

Jesse flushed a little. "First," he said, "rules are made to be subtly and carefully flouted though," he told the other man, "I can rather easily come to you, just give me a time and I'll bring my wallet." He offered a bright grin at that, shifting his luggage back to his right hand and shaking his left as subtly as he could.

Good night for now, be back in a few hours.

This is quite a post place. Alexia thought, observing the patterns on the walls. They were even more elaborate than the trimming on the railings.

She saw the person who bumped into Gabriel. He looked young. While she was fourteen, he was about seventeen or eighteen. His outfit was not formal enough for him to be a first-class passenger, though.

"Oh, we just been there." she said. "It's lower in the ship."

"You're just getting back at me for telling you the lounge was in the upper part, aren't you?" William snaps. "I'm sorry for being so unhelpful. Are you happy now?"

Rich people. They're all the same.

Mel descended down into the first class lounge. It was an extravagant place, but on the whole far less impressive than the deck of this huge ocean liner. Still, is was fit for the opulent passengers schmoozing over polished wood tables and waltzing to and from the room with the airs that only the richest people have. Sighing, Mel just felt like settling down in a chair and observing what went on in the lounge, looking for anything or anyone to pique his attention. Soon after he had take a seat, he heard a women start violently berating a man, then just as suddenly stop. His eyes followed the two as they conversed and he cocked his head, curious.

Flinn laughed. "I think I'm going to like you," he said. "OK, fine, tonight, once everybody's had a chance to settle into the cabins and stop milling around up here like sheep." It was good to see that the upperclass could be friendly when they wanted to be.

He noticed Jesse fidgeting. "Sorry, I'm keeping you from your cabin, aren't I? Good luck, and i suppose I will see you around tonight, then."

Kyle approached the first-class lounge, once again cursing his overconfidence - it had proven just as hard to find as his room had. The Titanic wasn't a ship, she was a floating replica of the mythological Labyrinth. At least he'd managed to find out what had caused the jolt - not that it had been much of a surprise.

In the entrance ahead, a young couple looked to be bickering. He couldn't help but be amused: it was an awfully familiar sight.

"Excuse me! Would you two mind? You're blocking the doorway."

Alexia flinched when she saw the person ask her to move.

"Oops, sorry." she blushed as she stood towards the side. She then looked back at William.

"Sorry about earlier. I was really lost. The Titanic is such a gigantic beauty."

One or two people were staring at him. She guess the first-class passengers were a little more critical than the other two classes.

William shrugs and leans against the wall. She probably didn't know why it ticked him off, so he doesn't feel so pissed anymore. He's definitely hungry, though.

The main thing that bothered Mel about the upper class was that they were so hard to mingle with. He never knew how his father and brothers managed it, but that was their realm, not his. He was off to America to change his lifestyle, and leave the problems he had in London exactly there.

Even thinking about the general denizens of first class was dull to him, so he left his chair and walked politely off to the first class cabins. Going in the same general direction was a man who looked older than him, but seemed... somehow different from most other people lounging around. He in fact looked rather lost, and didn't seem very happy about that fact.

"Hello, sir, would you like some help finding your room? I know it's rather difficult for the first while, but I know my around this ship rather well by now."

An excuse for her to leave? Why, William, how kind of you!

"Oh, don't mind me, I was just leaving anyway." And the sooner the better it would seem.

Nodding goodbye at Alexis, Gabriel made her way away from the lounge, wandering for awhile until she walked into what seemed like a cafe of some sorts. Confused, she looked around and saw a family eating. Sighing, she took a seat nearby them, deciding she needed something to eat as well, ordering a muffin. "Maybe I'll calm down with something in my belly," she thought out loud.

"I doubt it, but still..."

Eventually, the dining room is found, and William scans the area for Sophia.

Maybe she had taken her wings and flown away.
