Giving Edmund a thankful shout, and ignoring the looks people around him gave him Jesse turned back to his brother. He'd promised to stay until the boat was out of sight, and no matter what he was keeping that promise.

If Jesse ignores you it's just because Away is going to sleep and then travelling into a no-wifi zone until later tomorrow.

Having finally reached the end of that line, Flinn made his way to his cabin, ducking past all the people scurrying about. He apologised to the woman whose luggage he jostled on the way past, smiling at her with good humour.

It was posh, this ship. I wonder what the crew quarters are like? he wondered to himself. And the second and first class? This girl is meant to be the most luxurious yet.

Here it was... his cabin. He wondered who he'd be sharing it with; that could make a lot of difference to a journey. It was probably the best he could hope for that he didn't end up with someone with unpleasant personal habits.

He strode inside, bag still over his shoulder, and looked around.

Jacob sat in the smoke room, breathing in the dense, malodorous fumes. So he was to be a priest for the duration of his journey. And as most could guess, proper priests didn't smoke, they didn't drink, they didn't swear, they didn't have sex, they didn't have fun. And god knows he deserved some of that.

He sighed. Slouching in the chair, he felt a small wedge bump his elbow. It was a small box on the end table beside him. Inside, a bundle of freshly wrapped cigars and a small tin of matches. He took a deep breath, exhaling slowly, before yanking the box off the end table and lighting himself a nice hot stogie.

Priest? Bollocks to that.

Just as he was prepared to be swept away to nicotine paradise, he heard the faint thrum of a piano. It was incredibly quiet, but for some reason he just couldn't stop hearing it. If he listened close (which he always did) the sound seemed to be coming from the floor below, echoing up the staircase outside the smoke room. The noise was just loud enough to be heard, but only just. It was infuriatingly pervasive and enticing. Nostalgia always was.

His head fell into his folded hands which dragged his face down in mock-exasperation. Looks like he'd have to check it out. Whether he liked it or not.

William takes note of the well-dressed woman who he caught a glimpse of in the hallway. She looks like she belongs with the first-class passengers. Perhaps, like Bianca, she was adventurous enough to leave her luxuries. More likely that she got lost. It's a big ship, after all.

Ich verstehe Sie nicht. Ich verstehe Sie nicht.

Now, to see if he can remember how to play the Moonlight Sonata. Bianca loved that one. No, best not to play it right now, when his memories of her were still fresh. He might snap. No, but he needs something calming. Bach's Prelude in C Major, then.

Ich verstehe Sie nicht. Ich verstehe Sie nicht.

It did not take particularly long before Kyle realized he had underestimated how hard it would be to find his room. Whatever else you might say about the Titanic, she certainly lived up to her name. The ship was a monster, and its interior a labyrinth.

He hated to do it, but it seemed there was only one thing to do. Kyle stepped towards the nearest person.

"Excuse me, do you have any idea where cabin B-40 is?"

Jacob was currently engaged in what he liked to call a conflict of self-interest. As he stomped down the staircase, he clenched and unclenched his fist slowly, keeping in rhythm with the ragged panting of his breath. The keys of the piano were such a sweet sound, such a serene sound, and yet it screamed inside his ears, inside his brain. It was an intoxicating and fragile mixture of pleasure and pain, and it wouldn't stay balanced for long.

Finally reaching the bottom of the staircase, he caught sight of the piano. The one playing it couldn't have been more oblivious to his presence. His tense mind, filed with that brewing storm of love and hate, finally uncoiled. Violently. With a mighty thud, his fist exploded into the wall, shaking the doorframe of the second class lounge.

"I'd really appreciate it" he spat between pants, "if you'd stop. Just for now."

Marla wandered over to the deck railing, where she watched all of the people down below walking around and waving farewell to their families and friends. There were so many of them, all looking so small, smaller than her hand! She could even see eye-to-eye with the seagulls!

Sophia watched the people down below alongside her daughter when she heard someone ask her where something was...

"Hm?" She turned to Kyle, watching him intently with youthful brown eyes. "I'm afraid I don't..."

Hearing the man ask, she peered around her mother, holding her toy seal so it could "see", too.

"Jack, you have debauched my sloth."

William lifts his hands away from the piano and stands up, staring at the man who had pounded on the wall and demanded that he stop. "Sir, I don't know what's wrong, but I'm sorry," he says in a thick German accent. The man must be insane; he's breathing heavily, and how could the piano have bothered him so much? William half-expected the man to pull out a gun and shoot him, and he barely stopped himself from putting his hand on his revolver.

Unfortunately, anyone else in the vicinity would know that he knew English. Perhaps "Ich weiß nicht viel Englisch" would be more appropriate, then, and put on a fake accent again if he needed to.

"Damnation," Kyle muttered. He glanced at the child. "Oh, um, sorry, madam, pardon my language. Thank you anyway."

On to the next person, it seemed. He moved down the rail.

"Excuse me, sir, do you know where cabin - no? Thank you."

Perhaps he should ask one of the crew.

Walking past the dining hall, Gabriel saw the display.

"I'm no expert," She began, "But if you had wanted him to stop, you could have asked without attacking the wall."

Looking beyond the man, Gabe smiled at the pianist. "Gabriel Rockwell. Might I say, you are a wonderful musician."

The kid was obviously spooked. Maybe he'd spook him a little more, put the fear of god in his heart as penance for how he'd scraped at the back of his brain. Maybe he'd

mommy?

The child's voice struck between the eyes, blinding him. He looked back into the pianist's frightened eyes. There it was again. That look. Running his fingers through his hair, he sighed.

"Look kid, I'm sorry. It's been a long time getting here." He sat down on the chair next to the piano and gritted his teeth. A little jazz hands here and there to let the kid know he could get back to the keys. He made himself comfortable. Yeah, it'd been a long time getting here. And it would be longer if he stopped now.

William adjusts his glasses and smiles weakly, but his muscles don't relax. He still thinks the man is about to shoot him, and the fact that he had moved himself closer to him didn't help. He puts one hand in his pocket, on the revolver.

Well, he had to let that lady over there know he was grateful. Besides, a tall woman in men's clothes had to be someone interesting. Someone he wouldn't mind taking up some of his time.

"Thank you, Miss Rockwell," he says, still with an accent, just in case. Good thing he practiced speaking with it.

Seeing the overly angry man settle down, Gabe shook her head. "Honestly, such hot-headedness is not needed."

"If I may ask, what was that piece you were playing before the interruption." She walked up to the man and looked at the piano. "As pathetic as it is, I haven't listened to much music these days."

Alexia stayed in the hallway for awhile. But when she heard the outburst, she decided that her interference may break tension a little bit.

She popped in. "Excuse me. I'm a little lost. Do you know where's the first-class lounge?"

Sophia, finding room no. C-65, opens the door to an adequate berth: of bunk-beds to each side, along with a table in the midst (if you're ever in the mood for card-playing, drinking games - Sophia loves these on occasion.), and to the side a cabinet to store your luggage, and a door into the nice washroom. Overhead, there are some exposed pipes. The room doesn't seem taken yet.

It even has a view out a circular window - and looking out, Sophia can just see the people of the pier at eye's height— that reminds her, to go all the way updeck and bask in the party, before the ship begins leaving.

Tucking her luggage in the cabinet, Sophia heads through the many labyrinthine hallways, passing by a living room, and then up staircases, until she sees the wooden floor of the top deck - rays of light beaming there.

The passengers, first- second- and third-, all waving by the rail.

And Sophia starts to join in, adding her voice to these swell of voices, feeling the exhilaration of the moment. It's magical. The sun gleaming in her eyes.

"Goodbye!!" she screams. "Goodbye Everybody! Bonne chance! I will miss you!" (Does she know these people? Nope.)

She'll fit in quite well aboard, if she handles herself good and proper.

I'm mildly confuzzled. Is Jacob playing the piano?

"Prelude in C Major, by Bach," William says. The accent required more concentration than he thought it might— damn all those years in Britain. If the woman indeed wasn't a waste of time, he'd probably tell her the truth eventually.

William plays a small run with his right hand. When he observes that he is not in mortal peril, he begins another nocturne, for his nerves, and chastises himself for losing composure.

Miller has been listening for a while, an eye just open enough to see what was going on around him. For his kind of work, you had to read people before you talked, and talk before you got what you wanted. But holy christ, these folks were giving away information in gobs and handfuls. It was beautiful.

Probably not the best of ideas to try something here, though. If he's found out, that means there's not much of a route to get out, save hiding in the engine rooms, as few people know what to do around there. he could get involved in their game, but no, that too could wait. He needed more information before getting drawn in and enjoying himself.

He picked up the chair and turned it around, watching the personages fight, make up, come together and apart. He pulled out the stem of his pipe- no desire for a smoke right now, but chewing the pockmarked wood was a traditional way for him to relax. At least the music was nice.

This is this.

Cabin B-57. Andrew threw down his luggage and flung himself at the queen-size bed. Laying on his back he looked at the richly decorated ceiling, the lamp surrounded by flowery patterns, the woodwork on the edges of the walls. He never got used at luxury.

Gradually the mock marble faded away in his eyes and pictures of the miserable prairie beneath a lifeless clouded sky returned. Sleep took him.

Once again, movement in the corner of his eye. The man who had sat down earlier put a pipe in his mouth. The commotion must have waken him up, if he was indeed sleeping, and he didn't interfere. William frowns, suspicious of him, and decides to glance over whenever he can. Just to make sure he isn't planning some mischief.

There was nobody in the cabin. Flinn surveyed it. Not bad. Six bunks lining the walls, furnished in white. It smelled new. Since nobody else seemed to be here yet, Flinn tossed his bag onto a top bunk to claim it.

He shoved both hands into his pockets and wandered out into the corridor. Might as well get a last look at England, he thought. He had nobody to wave goodbye to, but he might as well go take part in the festival atmosphere.

He took the stairs quickly and soon emerged into bright morning sunlight. There were people everywhere, milling around the meticulously clean and shining new deck. He tipped his head back to let the breeze blow into his face.

(OOC: Sorry about that— I'd been to the movies for the day. Transformers 3 was a blast.)

Titanic bellows its roll call, like a whale out of the deep. The deck beneath Sophia shudders, and the sound - it seems to pierce her very being. Steam churns out Titanic's four chimneys. And then you'd see the boarding officers retract the gangways.

Sophia feels a certain pit in her stomach, like she'll never set foot upon that familiar land again. Not only that, but a feeling of being lifted up by her whole body from the ground.

Everyone is waving harder, harder to each other in the light this ship becomes a faint speck of the waters. Sophia soon stops her faux farewells; of course she'll admit she likes acting jovial in the high-energies at times. She eventually tires out though - she's not that kind of girl.

Confetti fills the air with these coloured stripers, and then a slow lurch. Inertia takes over in acceleration, and the ship begins drifting forward.

Sophia wonders what condiments the ship has in store, especially for food. She danubes her way back inside — but not before she falls heads over heels on Flinn (in her absent-mindedness). An accidental tango on the floor. Ouch.

"Owwowow—!" She rubs her backside, sitting on her bum, before looking to see who'd she wandered into. She isn't in a mood for making accidents.

"Careful, man," Sophia says, once she's all up. Then she helps Flinn up also, glancing once at his off-kilter features— she might bump into him again on the off-chance. Who knows? He looks a scruffy sort.

She heads back down, finding one of Titanic's dining rooms; upholstered tables with flowers on them, two piano players at their foray, and some people already waiting on their orders. It seems she's not alone having sacrificed the breakfast meal.

Perhaps she'll have some muffins and soup, if they have any.
