Oh noes, someone wants to write quick, easy, entertaining fluff just for fun instead of long, ponderous, head up it's own ass 'art' that is to worried about being 'meaningful' and perfectly crafted, to actually have a story that isn't a giant mess of idiocy or incomprehensibility.
Do you have any idea how egotistical, judgmental, dismissive, and just all around nose in the air 'elite critic' idiot like that sounds? "Oh, don't let me hold you back from squandering your talents not making what I believe to be something worth gracing human eyes".
As if downvote bombing just because of tags isn't bad enough. And yes bringing that up because just had a friend today get depressed and had to help him out a bit because his stories were getting hit with drive by tag bombing from people that weren't even reading it, given how fast they happened, and no comment. Yeah I'll admit he's not some super excellent writer, but he puts a lot of work into his stories and does have some good stuff. If some self esteem issues about how they are received, so yeah random down voting DOES hurt people.
Speaking of The Heart of an Author, I may-or-may-not have told Oroboro before, but it's one of the five stories in my "Best of the Best of the Rest" box that's front-and-center on my profile page. I love that fic.
Really been meaning to get to that fic, it's pretty high on my read list.
Right now just re-reading A Delicate balance without the need to commentate. Also because I want a good story I already reviewed to keep my backlog from getting bigger while I try to get that review for It's a Dangerous Business worked on.
I'll be releasing another long story within the next couple weeks, about 100k words total. Still in the editing / polish stage, but it's nice to be almost done after working on it all year.
Fractured Sunlight. I briefly mentioned the premise in this thread months ago. About a human Twilight in the EQG-verse who used to be friends with the human counterpart of Sunset Shimmer, but then she died in an accident. Then she meets her pony counterpart. Drama, and later lesbians ensue.
Can't say I much care for the premise... though that could just be the whole "EQG" thing bleeding over. Still, could work.
@Seraphem: What, no comments as long as the chapter?
Also, this latest story has been giving me major writer's block. I think I might take a break from it once I finish the chapter I'm on and work on something else.
Reaction Image RepositoryWait... how can it be racist if it's against Jews? Jews are of a different religion, not a different race. That always struck me as stupid to call it racist.
I'm just curious. No need to exaggerate this into something bigger.
Judaism is the religion, Jewish people are the people. Jewish people are an "ethnoreligious group", to use TO Ws word for it.
Having Jewish heritage and practicing Judaism are not mutually inclusive, but both groups can be referred to as "Jews". You can have Jewish heritage and not practice Judaism, and vice-versa. Like any other religion/ethnicity combination, upbringing influences it a lot, but ultimately it depends on the individual.
Likewise, antisemitism can vary in degree from hating the ethnic group to hating the practitioners of the religion.
In The Merchant Of Venice, everyone hates Shylock because he is a Jew and because he practices Judaism. That's why the end of the play (where his daughter converts to Christianity and where he is legally mandated to convert as well) was considered a happy ending at the time.
I guess you could substitute "antisemitism" for "racial prejudice" and that would be more accurate. I typed that post quickly, however, so the terminology didn't occur to me

"The only way to truly waste an idea is to shove it where it doesn't belong."Doublepost; added a new first chapter to that MLP/Jekyll and Hyde crossover
This chapter covers Luna's taking of the potion and her transformation. I might have to tone it down a bit as far as references to sex/bodily stuff is concerned. I tried to keep it vague but may not have succeeded.
Next I have to write the final chapter where Luna talks to Pinkie in the hospital. Then depending on how that turns out, I think I'll have a workable product to start editing. Or I can try rewriting it with a different one of Celestia's interns if it doesn't work.
"The only way to truly waste an idea is to shove it where it doesn't belong."It would fit with the tone of the show better.
Also, I need to catch up on Heart of an Author. I was really enjioying it.
EDIT: And I also need to work out how to get the game it's based on to work

Interesting. The author of that Joker fic (I've left a number of comments on his story with my feedback) commented on my user page.
He says he has a new story and he'd like my comments on it. He says he hopes it'll improve upon what the Joker fic did wrong.
That is interesting.
Well, I'll let him know. I had a peek and it opens pretty much the exact same way as the Joker story, so I have substantial doubts. Still, I'll read it and give feedback.
At the very least, he's a good sport.
The latest chapter of From Dusk to Night is live.
Pannic: Maybe he's one of those people who needs it repeated to him a few times. >.>
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiYou know, given how obsessed this fandom is with Tastes Like Diabetes, I'm really' tempted to write a fic that's just G3 gobbledygook with Rainbow Dash rambling about rainbows in between cuddles/snuggles and other nonsense.

The fandom is too big and unwieldy to make that kind of generalization about. If everyone really was obsessed with Tastes Like Diabetes, then Fallout: Equestria wouldn't be so insanely popular. But on the other hoof, if everyone was obsessed with Darker and Edgier fare, then My Little Dashie wouldn't be so insanely popular, either.

Or it was jack shit to do with either, and simply a case of a good story is a good story. Or at least an entertaining story is fun.
Added another new chapter (half-chapter?) to the MLP/Jekyll and Hyde crossover linked above. Probably not enough happens to be called its own chapter, but it seemed like a natural stopping point. Writing Pinkie as a student/scientist was fun.
Now I just need one or two more scenes between Luna and Pinkie to set up the story's final themes, then I can start polishing it. Since no one in this thread seems to be interested, I should probably start vetting editors.
"The only way to truly waste an idea is to shove it where it doesn't belong."Never say never. (Some of us have busier days.)
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty. It wasn't a complaint; I never edit anything in this thread because of work, either
Thanks tho

"The only way to truly waste an idea is to shove it where it doesn't belong."Listened to the Sucker Punch soundtrack again yesterday and now I keep thinking about all those suicide fics thanks to the "Asleep" cover.
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.@Clever: You, of all people, writing a crossover? There are still some miracles left in this world, it seems...
Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...On a personal level, I maintain that conceptual crossovers don't count. It's more myth-molding, akin to Alladin being 'crossed over' with an Arabian setting(As the original tale was set in China... which greatly resembled Arabia by virtue of being written by an Arabian man who had never been to China but regardless). But that's just me.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.
The three I was referring to were Lost and Never Found, Little Apple, and Love Twiangles. Thanks, Mom also looks like one. For someone with only 8 published stories, that's enough to form a pattern.
