I like living here, but if I had to have children, I'd move elsewhere, where teachers are paid properly and expected to have a life outside of the classroom.

Also, I would like to direct your attention to the beleaguered state of Michigan, where the governor has made himself Defacto dictator, through the passage of a bill which allows him to institute economic martial law, IE fire elected officials and have someone he picked come into a city and make all the decisions.

Healthcare could be better, minimum wage could be better, democrats could be better, republicans could be much better...

One other wonk I have is with the Chamber of Commerce and American Legislative Exchange Council. The first is meant to hide the source of political contributions made by large corporations. The other is basically a printer for corporate or fascist policies. I rarely use fascist, btw. The Council was the one to create the Michigan bill, as well as the Union bill and Voter ID bill in Wisconsin. No bills or policies may come from the Council unless a corporate representative ok's it.

This nation, with the low, low corporate tax rate, could be great, but it allows the corporations too much leeway.

That's the strange thing about America. So many of our ideologies clash with our rhetoric, and vice versa. For example, we can't suppress revolts like we used to because it contradicts everything we've been parroting about 'democracy' in the middle east.

@Joyjojo: to sum up. Bachmann is what one could call, an utter and absolute nutcase of the highest order.

She's a very very extreme fundamentalist christian. She thinks economic isolationism is a good idea. She believes gay people and bisexuals are "sexually confused and dysfunctional", she thinks nuking Iran is a viable optioin. need I go on?

She and her husband fasted for 5 days before deciding to run for congress ("Yet another bad decision made on an empty stomach") and had to "wait for a sign from god" before deciding to try to run for president.

Christianity is fine. But I don't want someone with that much of a connection to god. Its not that she bases her decisions on the bible, its that it is her total means of deducing what to do. And its her literal meaning of the bible. She supports teaching intelligent design over evolution, regardless of what the facts say.

And that is why the thought of her being president scare me more than the thought of Palin being president.

@Joey: Dubya, for all his faults, was a decent guy making his best of a situation but not utterly unswayable when facts showed he needed to change course on something. he wasnt a great president, but he wasnt a psychotic fundamentalist caricature made flesh.

Bachmann, is about 7 million times more of everything bad about bush with none of the redeeming qualities. You know all those demeaning caricatures liberals make of republicans? She is everyone of those. For serious.

Nah, just certain segments of it. And half the time it's because money talks. She's had major campaign spending investments.

I wish that were true. I wish I could give Michelle Bachmann even that much credit. But I can't. The right-wing does love to tar Nancy Pelosi as some kind of liberal left-wing loon from San Francisco, but that is their propaganda. Treating Pelosi and Bachmann as if they were the same is as false as half as Bachmann's own claims.

So no, let's not pretend that they are at all alike. They aren't.

Pelosi isn't as bad as Bachmann, but she is a fucking loon.. Wish we would just get rid of San Francisco, so many bad politicians from that area.. Next thing you know that shithead mayor of theirs is going to finally decide to move up if he hasn't already...

Why can't we have any female politicians who don't look like total bitches? Bachmann, Pelosi, and Clinton... All three of them look and act like a bunch of shrill harpies, ready to prey on the opposition.
