I've heard of the Emu thing years ago, but never bothered to look into it. It's pre-NGE, I think, so you actually have to work to become a Jedi, rather than picking it right from the start.

My wife loved the creature crafting aspect, and she was a master pilot. had a terribly tricked-out advanced X-wing that she wasted Imps with all the time. She's not looking to joing TOR, although the story aspect of TOR got my attention.

[up] Yea, I like that Idea. It enforces(for a while at least) the fact there are very few jedi during the Galactic Civil War, and the few around are very skilled and know what they're doing.

R.I.P. my blue Twi'lek with purple head stripes. I have even forgotten your name.

And I didn't know about printscreen so she's gone forever. :(

Once I have time, maybe i'll give the Emu a try. If it works well, maybe we could all go on an make a tropeville in game.

My wife took a zillion pics. Got several with her toons, a bunch with all of mine. Ah, fond memories.

I might purchase TOR and recreate my Smuggler. Smugglers are always a hoot to play.

I was thinking about getting TOR, but it's just to expensive for me. $15 bucks a month means I could be a good, new game every two months and tons of older games, and the intial cost could be 2 games. Plus, I've got no IRL friends that are playing it.

Same here. I'd definitely play it if it was F 2 P, as I loved the Beta, but I just can't right now.

I wish companies would find ways to make them(Mmos in general) cheaper. E.G., running ads on the homepage. Or giving you the option of video ads when you log in in exchange for cheaper subscription.

My computer literally can't play TOR, so...I hope this Galaxies emulation thing works.

Has anyone actually tried it? I just heard about this emulator thing and I'm really curious. Can't play TOR so this'd be the next best thing.

I wish they'd just bring back the character creator. :P

[up]Yeah, when I began playing World Of Warcraft one of the things that I immediately thought was "Damn, you can't really do a whole lot with your character's appearance, can you?" For those who never played it, the SWG creator was like a police composite dealiemabob, where you could set the length and width of your character's nose, the shape of her lips and mouth, the height of the cheekbones, physique, and a lot more.

I had a Rodian, and I wish I could make one in Star Wars The Old Republic. I don't care if all of his dialogue is subtitled and can't be understood, or that the most famous Rodian is a Mook who bit off more than he could chew and got killed by Han; I think Rodians are cool and I wanna be one, dammit! >.< (But since that won't happen I'll probably go with a Twi'lek myself, or maybe a Miraluka.)

I think the Ithorians should've been replaced by the Chiss, but that's just me.

[up]Well, the Chiss shouldn't have really been there either. See, in The Thrawn Trilogy nobody who encounters Thrawn has any idea what species he is because they've never seen anybody like him before. It's only like a decade later that Luke goes into the Unknown Regions to investigate something and he runs into these blue-skinned, red-eyed humanoids. Both he and the person he's with think "Hey, they're the same species as Thrawn!" And after Luke talks to them, they basically say "Yeah, Thrawn was one of us, but we exiled him because he broke our rules. We're called Chiss, and it's not a surprise you haven't ever heard of us since we're isolationist and never go into your part of the galaxy if we can help it. And we also don't like people knowing about us."

So it was just as much of a stretch for there to be Chiss NPCs running all over the galaxy during the Galactic Civil War as it was for there to be violent Ithorians; if they were everywhere, then why had nobody heard of them in The Thrawn Trilogy?

Chiss being in Star Wars The Old Republic can perhaps be HandWaved by saying "Oh, it was almost 3000 years ago. Chiss acted differently back then."

And I think they're only imperial Agents, who are meant to be black-ops esuqe.

But really, the only way "Rare" and "MMO" work well is one-time-only items.

No such thing as rare in an MMO. Once someone get it, a wiki article about how to do it goes up, and then it's everywhere.

Like Ancient Flawless Krayt pearls. Grab some friends, grind for them on Tatooine for awhile, done. Oh, you need some uber-rare resource to craft up something? No problem, jsut grab one of those 30k resource crates and pick what you need. That or actually spend time harvesting it. Elite extractors, elite extractors everywhere...

Good point on the Chiss - I had quite forgotten that detail.

I don't want to buy a CD unless I know I'll be able to do it, so I'm just waiting on one of you to give me the good news.

;_;

Added this to the new trope page.

—>Bought a round of drinks in the Mos Eisley cantina, sat with the only other person in the bar, shared a drink and 10 seconds before being disconnecting said to him " may the force be with you" and he said " and you as well my friend". That was awesome, never met that person before, yet in a few short minutes just before the game died forever, I made a new friend. Thats how awesome SWG was, you could meet and make new friends in the wonderful world it was.

Looks like the ones i was posting about died. We'll have to find a new one.

EDIT- I was wrong! The website was down for a while and I jumped to conclusions.

Another EDIT- Also, If anyone needs the disk here. I frickin LOVE amazon lately.

What do you guys think, would you need ALL the disks, or just the original? Because the original is about 30 bucks, or more, less then a complete pack.

I think you just need the original, since that's what the emulation is based on. You could probably check in their forums.

Either way, I'm not buying anything until one of you guinea pigs checks it out. My money's too precious right now. tongue
