(Troper Project) Dystropia

Okay, so we need somebody that can program AI in Python. I'll do my best - it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Working on the main menu and everything right now.

Here's my mockup for the main menu screen.◊ I chose those colors because, well, the background image is a color-inversion of the main tvtropes color scheme, but the text uses the proper shades of blue. That blue splotch under "Story Mode" will glow and fade in the actual game, so it won't look like shit. When you select one of the other options (like Quick Battle), the blue highlight area will move to that instead. The actual image is supposed to be 800x600, but Photobucket doesn't like things that big.

The Quick Battle menu will have two sub-options that come up when you select it, "P1 vs. CPU" (where you fight one on one with the computer), and "P1 vs. P2", where you kick the ass of your friend. If I can ever figure out how to do netplay (in other words, play over the internet) I'll incorporate that as a third option, but it's unlikely.

Options will take you to a list of options you can change, like volume of sound/music, difficulty, etc.

Thoughts?

Not quite a fan of the background colors, but it's good.

I guess we can either take care of the full-on look of the menus and stuff whenever or leave it as-is, but as it is now it's fine.

...Can I make one?

Looks fine to me, since I don't mind the colors a bit.

SO.

Conceptually, I more or less kept it the same but made it more "Tre's Weirdo Look That Barely Even Fits The Game™"-y. One thing that I did make more TV Tropes-ish was the color of teh logo, though, and I think it actually looks better now.

Oh, and I snuck Moony's line art of D!Moony in there too because it was boring without it.

ALSO.◊ Sub-menu. Maybe. Could work similarly to the submenus in Rock Band 2/3: same menu, but the other options just fade out and are replaced by the others.

Oooh. That's a good bit more stylish than Moony's design.

I really like Tre's design, though Moony's isn't bad, too.

Anyway, the thread's been around for a few days already, and I haven't got any replies yet. : Shall we wait a little more, or try to find someone to help us with the AI somewhere else?

I dunno. As for my involvement, my timeframe for this has stretched from "this month" to "whenever". I've been working on it when I have spare time, which is not often, and I think with school and everything, that's about when I'm going to continue being able to work on it. I plan to get the menus and stuff coded (which is why I did that mockup), but after that, well, we'll see.

I'm not dead yet if anyone cares.

So, how do you like Blackmoon's ideas so far?

Controls seem good, due to simplicity (I never do weird shit and don't use the harder combos in some fighting games because they aren't so simple) and I think his character's fighting style is fitting, but with him having trouble with AI i'm imagining an even-worse-than-Exdeath CPU unless he can somehow find pre-done AI elsewhere.

I missed that somehow.

Yeah, the thread I posted now has 150 views, yet still no replies. We'll need to look for help with the AI somewhere else.
