OK, so Moony's first. Do you have any suggestions for posing (or, more specifically, which kind of swordsmaship your character specialises in) and any changes to his appearance before I begin?

Hm. First, a note: I tried some smaller sprites, and I'm definitely liking the extra screen real estate; would it be too much trouble to aim for an average character height of about 200-250 pixels?

As for your questions, I think this◊ general pose would be good. Maybe this,◊ but I prefer the former, certainly. My character will be an Iaijutsu Practitioner, so I kinda wanna crib some notes from other video game characters who do that.

I'll just lay out the general appearance... glasses, about shin-length dark red kimono-styled coat, with a gray vest and some black dress pants under that. All in all, very fancy crap. Doable?

Oh, and a note to everyone in this thread: I've been kinda slacking this last week. A combination of depression, anxiety, illness, and generally just being busy as fuck has made it so I haven't had a lot of time or drive to work on Dystropia, but come Monday, I'm going to pick up work again.

^^ 250 px is very doable indeed, not least because it reduces my workload by a third. Thanks for the link and the description too, though if you could also provide me some pointers for facial features and hair, that'd be great.

You have my sympathies with your current difficulties too, Moony. There's a bit of trouble happening my way too at the moment, so I won't be working that fast either.

Why describe when you can draw ? That picture alone's going to be a big help when it comes to colouring and clothing cuts.

I think you took more work on this than is treating you fairly, Moony. A whole game's programming is a tough job for anyone.

I'd say that you rest for a while, then think a bit about it all. It takes superhuman patience for one man to program a whole game - the whole project was probably way too ambitious to begin with.

Still, if you decide that you can't do the whole work yourself, I have an idea that may help. I am a member of a Serbian computer-related site; some of the people there are Serbian programming elite, that gulp Python for breakfast. Many of those have repeatedly said that they crave for a chance to program games, and the number of those who would sell their soul for a chance to star in a game is even larger. I might be able to convince one of them, maybe even more, if necessary, to aid the project. However, it may require some sacrifice - they might demand to be included as a character. The choice is yours, no need to hurry with the decision.

I can fold in a new character, probably, so there's no trouble there. Yeah, Moon, it's all you.

Most of the project is not beyond me, but making it so the opponent will actually do stuff in a single-player game besides stand there is far outside the scope of my abilities.

Some other stuff, too, but mostly that.
