Not even just the world map. The moon is visible in the sky of every world. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being another world/the final world or something.

But yeah, 12 sounds like a decent number (with 13 if there's a secret level like the one in 3D World).

How many worlds were in Mario 64 and Sunshine?

Then again, the worlds in Odyssey seem to be MUCH bigger than in those games, so it might even out

Not counting bonus areas, 15 in 64 and 7 in Sunshine.

15 pretty small areas...

7 moderately bigger areas...

I put off Super Mario Galaxy 2 because I found Super Paper Mario on discount. It took me a little while to get into it. It's really weird playing a Mario game without fireballs or a run button, and equally weird playing Paper Mario without the ability to freely move in the back and foreground...but I think I got hooked at Mimi's incredibly obvious traps. They were so hilarious I voluntarily "fell" for each one, although once she started repeating them I thought seriously about what to do next(it didn't take long though, when all else fails flip) and ended up accidentally sicking the dog on her.

I liked Fracktail too, but that was a one and done boss. Some humor and intrigue akin to the fuzzy thieves and koopa bros was what had been lacking from this Paper Mario so far. The new navigation and combat is a taste I may or may not acquire but I'm glad to see the series is still providing puzzles and road blocks that make me laugh.

Chapter 1 is a bit dull aside from Old Man Watchitt and the Fracktail battle, but there's some good stuff coming your way.

Oh, and just in case it isn't immediately apparent, in 2-3, you don't have to amass 1000000 Rubees the long way. There's a vault containing them that you can figure out the password to.

iirc if you do happen to get all the Rubees the long way, you get some funny dialogue.

I put my toe on the d pad and started reading a book, but then the Wii mote's battery died so I called it a night. I think I know how to get the password, I just decided to go in the members room first to get an idea of how long it would take.

I actually tried not to trigger that obvious trap, just to see if there was some way around, but the presence of a save block convinced me I would have to fall for it to advance.

Some footage of the Cap Kingdom, the Seaside Kingdom, and the Broodal boss in the Luncheon Kingdom, among other things.

Funnily enough, the Cap Kingdom's music is giving me Grant Kirkhope vibes with its use of whimsical woodwinds and augmented intervals.

Some difference in the Superstar Saga remake. Most notable is the inclusion of an Easy Mode and some Bros. Move changes.

I'm baffled by the inclusion of Easy Mode since the game is already easy. Fire Emblem Fates at least had a good reason for the hand-holding Phoenix Mode.

[up]Some people might not be as good at games as others, so I'm guessing the Easy Mode there is meant to make the game more accessible to them.

I beat Superstar Saga when I was an idiot kid with no gaming skills, and didn't find it hard back then. I'm not against the inclusion of Easy Modes in general, but when you add one to a remake of a game that's already pretty easy you're just being insulting.

They could have at least added a Hard Mode that preys on muscle memory and makes it harder to No-Damage Run the game to make up for it.

[up]I honestly don't see why it would be insulting. Some people just might have a harder time than you did and might appreciate an Easy Mode. If they, like you, think the game is already easy, then they simply don't touch it and let those who might need it use it.

Video games being more accessible is, in my opinion, always a good thing.

[up]If there's someone out there who is happy that there is an Easy Mode, then it isn't really "dumbing down" for them. If Easy Mode makes the game more fun for someone, then I don't see the harm in having it in there, since it's something that can be ignored by anyone who doesn't want to use it.

EDIT: Forgive me if my response becomes directed at something you really didn't mean to say. I didn't see your edit until I clicked to post.

For some, the original could be easy enough that you could literally beat every boss without ever being hit. The later games made that harder to do.

I suspect the inclusion of the mode is because the game's mechanics have probably changed a bit between versions, and some of the battles probably won't be as simple/easy as they were in the original. Plus it might affect the new Bowser's minion mode, which looks a bit confusing to me at the moment, and looks like it could get reasonably tough.

I ain't got a problem with Easy Mode myself however.

I'm really sad that the Bros. Attack difficulty selector has been removed. Getting the timing right on the Level 3 Bros Attacks was great. The other changes made to them area great, though.

I always thought the Bros Attack difficulty selection was an underappreciated mechanic. Turns out it's even underappreciated by Alpha Dream, it seems.

Well, given the rehearsal mechanic introduced in Dream Team (or was it Bowser's Inside Story?), the Bros attack difficulty slider is now redundant.

The advance variants are still there, and far more obvious. It took me a long time to figure out how to execute the advanced techniques!

I better still be able to shred through bosses with Chopper Bros. and Knockback Bros.

I don't know about that. The difficulty slider lets you learn as you play through the game. The rehearsal thing grinds the game to a halt if you want or need to use it. And Superstar Saga Bros Attacks on the hardest difficulty are harder and therefore more rewarding to do than any Bros Attacks from future games, IMO.
