I actually think that Goombella's tattles were, on the whole, more entertaining than Goombario's.

Goombario has some good ones if you tattle a Duplighost that's copying him.

Heh. I forget about that Buzzard that appears in the mountains (where you recruit Parakarry.

I told him I was Luigi. If he's still there on the way back, I'll tell him I'm Mario and beat his ass.

I've been still focusing on increasing badge points. I gotta ask, when would be a good time to invest in both flower points and hit points (right now, I got badges increasing both by 5 points, but that won't save me, though I also have damage dodge now).

It's really annoying that it takes so long to build up everything so much.

If you're relatively new to the game, it's good to level up each stat evenly. Once you're better it becomes preferable to level up BP at the expense of FP and especially HP, but that presupposes you know all the best strategies for dealing with enemies quickly, can always defend against attacks, ect.

I've had the game for years on the Wii and I survived just fine without needing a ton of BP.

Good advice. For my next increase, I'll go with HP.

I'm not totally new to the game (this is my third time playing it, the first time being the original n64 version, and the second time being a download from the Wii shop, which I got far in), but I wouldn't call myself an expert in it.

Anyway, I ended up going back and beating up that Buzzard dude. Despite his high health, he ain't that tough. That helped a bit and upped my star points too.

[up][up] Of course you don't need to, it's just considered the best idea if you're good at/used to the game.

To answer your question, Rob, just up your HP and FP whenever you feel you need to.

If you want, by the way, you can get an Ultra Shroom in Dry Dry Desert. One area north of the entrance is a block on the ground that's already been hit. Hitting it once makes a Mushroom, ten times makes a Super Shroom, and a hundred times makes an Ultra Shroom.

Incidentally, there's only 3 Ultra Shrooms and 4 Jammin' Jellies not counting the ones in Bowser's Castle or from Lil Oinks, which is exactly enough to make all the recipes.

Cool. I'll remember that.

Recipes. I gotta try more of those too. They'll be useful that's for sure.

One more thing: when should use certain items like Pow blocks and lightning bolts and the like?

I don't want to waste them, but I get the feeling holding on to them for too long is also wasteful. I like to save stuff like that for bosses, but sometimes, your inventory just gets full, and you gotta use something.

[down]Yeah I hate that. And as I said, you can only carry so much stuff, but you don't want to waste it which can be a real bitch.

Though Jammin' Ultras tend to create a huge mental block where you'll refuse to use them until both your HP and FP are in the red.

Attack items like POW blocks aren't really all that useful. Keep a few on hand to end a battle if it's going south, but otherwise you should mostly use healing items.

After Chapter 3 you get a Star Spirit power that renders every attack item obsolete anyway.

Also, remember that you can always store items at the shops if you have a powerful item but don't want to use it yet.

Oh, if you're looking to make every recipe, I can provide a checklist I made myself since the game doesn't include one, but there's no reward for it other than seeing a nice 50/50 on your chalkboard at Mario's House.

That being said, if any of the Pokeys in the desert drop Dried Fruit you'll want to take it. 3 recipes require that and that's the only way to find them.

I'll keep that in mind as well.

Do any recipes require Wacka Bumps?

I like farming those things, and the amount of health and magic they restore is ridiculously useful at this early point in the game.

You can make a Yummy Meal by cooking a Whacka Bump, but it's less useful than the bump as is (20 HP and FP instead of 25).

There's other ways to make a Yummy Meal anyway that don't use a finite resource.

Or abusing an unfortunate blue mole-thing.

The poor thing clearly seems to experience brain damage as you hit it and eventually will just plain die.

Ya know, Bowser's Inside Story really is harder than the past games. Even with Mario's POW rapidly approaching Bowser's (it's about 40 points less right now), fights still take a fair bit of time. After just annihilating everything in Partners in Time, it's a little annoying.

Also, the challenges are absolutely brutal. There's no way I'll ever be able to A Rank ANY of Bowser's challenges and I doubt I'd be able to A Rank most of the others either. Even getting over 100 points on the puzzles is hard.

Oh that's right!

You can eventually use up all the bumps. I'd forgotten that.

Shit. I gotta be careful.

One more thing, more related to the Wii U than the game specifically: can you erase restore points? Just in case I don't want to accidentally start from an earlier point to where I saved since that was where I made my last restore point or something like that.

I usually save in game, and then make a restore point of the same spot, but I'm always afraid I'll start from a poor spot due to where I last saved or made a restore point.

Hope that post isn't too confusing.

No, not to my knowledge. You can, however, just reset the game and start from your last hard save. And I don't think you can screw yourself over with a hard save.

Now I wanna go play Paper Mario. Is Thousand Year Door available on Wii U or anything or do I have to go dig up my Gamecube?

Thousand Year Door is currently GCN-only- For whatever reason, Nintendo skipped moving GCN games to the VC and went directly to Wii games.

Probably because the Wii U already has a Wii inside it so tweaking things to get the Wii U to run a digital Wii game without having to go into Wii Mode was comparatively simple.

[up][up][up][up]Probably to leave HD versions of certain games on the table.

Either that, or they don't like what the control setups would be on most of the controllers.
