General Mario Thread

Galaxy 2 was fun, but Galaxy 1 had that first exposure to the whole gimmick of variable gravity and the Comet Observatory and Rosalina.

Also the Red Star that made Mario fly that should have been used a lot more.

Heh, I remember Rosalina becoming one of my favorite characters pretty quickly, followed by a small sense of dissapointment when I realized that future Mario games would probably not have her. Good thing Breakout Character is a thing, even if it took a few years and a sequel where she was Demoted to Extra.

I prefer Galaxy 2 to 1. The gameplay was better overall in my opinion. The reduced story snippets is disappointing, but not by enough.

After a long and difficult journey, I reached world crown, after very little trouble with Captain Toad and a bunch of trouble in the Mystery House, I'm tackling Champion's Road.

I died in seconds by jumping right in between platforms.

Galaxy is my favorite 3D Mario, and Mario 3 is my favorite 2D Mario.

Galaxy 2 is my favorite 3D platformer.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is my favorite 2D platformer.

I still can't do that part with Mario, Tanooki Suit or not. ;-;

Galaxy 2 is favorite 3D Mario game and Mario World is favorite 2D Mario game.

3DLand is too easy I can say...100% within 5 days, and there were only 8 specific levels where I died a LOT of times on. Those levels plus a few deaths in some other levels totaled up to 722 deaths.

Super Mario 64 is my favorite 3D Mario Platformer.

I find it hard to choose between Super Mario Bros. 2 USA and Super Mario Bros. 3 for favorite. They're both amazing games.

Finally! After many trials and errors, but mostly errors, I completed Champion's Road with Rosalina!

...What? What do you mean now I have to complete every stage with every character including these sadistic last two!? Oh dear...

In all seriousness, it felt so good to get to that last part, but I didn't get quite the same feeling Grandmaster Galaxy in Galaxy 2 gave me. Next 3D Mario better go back to the 64 to Galaxy formula; I like my dialogues and satisfying cutscenes.

A beginning and ending Cutscene...

3DWorld = 64

Cutscenes through out the game...

3Dland = Galaxy

If Miyamoto remains involved with future 3D games...those "meaningful" cutscenes won't really be returning.

I wonder why bretnalfloss removed that video from his channel....

World Flower...Good Christ, I could plow through these levels like a Spanish man plows mothers, if I wasn't trying to get all stars.

Oh, before I hurt myself...Every level needs to be completed with every character, to reach Champion's Road?

Please don't tell me they all have to be Gold Flags.

I've gotten every green star in the main game, sans the second star in the first world's swimming dinosaur thing level. Where the fruit is it?!

You need all stars, stamps, and gold flags to get to Champion's Road. No need to complete every level with every character to get there.

Every Level with All 5 characters gets the Last 5 stamps...

Since Champion's Road counts as the last level, those last 5 do not as necessary.

You only need the Gold Flag...with only one character.

In other news, I got Super Mario Galaxy again! Old copy kinda blorked itself.

Mario Bros., Mario Is Missing, and Mario's Time Machine!

While They Live in a Castle is still irritatingly quiet in terms of overall progress, they have started ripping off SBmail.

GameTrailers have attempted to make Top 10 out of every Mario game ever, personally I think they could've left out Galaxy 1 in favour of another title since they put 2 above it, but oh well.

Super Mario Bros. corrupted is quite a sight.

Finished Champion's Road, with almost no power ups...By the final token sprint section, I needed that damn cat suit. Out of all the brutal, final levels, I think this my personal favorite. Definitely the most pretty looking, and the most fair. The Thank You clear pipe section's also just darling, as well as all your friends waving at you in that final charge to the goal post. Left my heart all bubbly.

Shame the Super Leaf makes champion's road its bitch, but whatever, it feels good to win the damn thing with nothing but skeel.

I was kinda amused at how the Chargin' Chuck section relied on a little fact I kinda thought was exclusive to 2D Mario; you can run over gaps.

And now I have seen al there is to see from 3D World. Galaxy/2 is still my favorite, but goddamn, was it a blast. After countless "New" titles, this one just blows all of them out of the water.

@best blocks on Champion's Road: I'm gonna love sounding smug as fuck when I say that I did it without the Raccoon Suit. There's a pattern that took me a long long time to get it, but getting it felt oh so good.
