Mario and Pokemon wouldn't work well due to the character designs. Unless you can think of a way to make a Bowser minifig. Or a Goomba or Koopa minifig, for that matter. And of course the Pokemon are even more complicated.
Legend of Zelda or Metroid could work if they focus more on the humanoid enemies.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Mario's already got K'nex, though...
I could see some other Nintendo franchises working in the LEGO environment. Imagine BIONICLE-styled Metroid figures, or even LEGO City Undercover playsets!
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaLEGO has made specialized minifigs before. Hulk comes to mind, for instance, and I know there are others.
True, it's just that universes like Mario and Pokemon consist of pretty much nothing but non-standard designs, aside from the humans in the latter. Making a special exception for someone like the Hulk is fine, but if the entire set consists of non-standard pieces it isn't really LEGO anymore.
Of course, it could be awesome, I'm just saying that's the most likely obstacle.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! Not gonna lie, I'd pay to play a LEGO Smash or a LEGO Zelda. LEGO games are amazingly done...
Vote. .#Bayonetta 4 SmashHow about an overall LEGO Nintendo game? With characters and stages from everywhere, like LEGO Marvel Superheroes?

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Bad Wolf, I know you said that and I know it would be a bad idea for just that but it doesn't stop me from wanting to see it.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I figured this was interesting enough to share: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2014/07/26/wii-version-of-skylanders-trap-team-contains-free-wii-u-digital-download.aspx
Yes, Skylanders: Trap Team is still going to cone out for the Wii. But Wii copies also come with a free download code for digital copy on the Wii U. As the article points out, this seems to be less of a "give it to your friends" thing and more of "hey, you might want to consider getting a Wii U" thing. (Nothing's stopping you from letting your friends borrow the portal, though...)
Interesting ploy. Maybe Skylanders is beginning to get too big for the Wii alone to handle?
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaSo I'm watching a live stream of a SDCC playing of Shovel Knight through a Miiverse link.
Kinda fun.
I'm hoping they'll show some other stuff as well.
One Strip! One Strip!I just hope they'll finally localise it for Europe.
Well sure, it's not like as if one game was going to save every single thing. They were ailing before Mario Kart 8, and it's still going to take time.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectThey're climbing out of the whole they dug in 2013. I'd wait until the slew of games they have coming over the next six months come out before passing judgement on their financial future.
"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."Mario is the least of the issues, though. He's human, at least.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! It's at this point that I realize that we're getting a truckload of Wii U games from September 'til sometime in 2015. I'm too lazy to list them all, but the number was either 11 or 12 last time I counted (not counting Starfox, Miyamoto's two new things, and third party games).
Considering that Reggie has said time and time again that a continuous stream of games can change a console's fortune... C-could it be...? Maybe...?! Ah, who knows.

Eh.Reggie would never lie.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! And if you say that he would he will kick your ass!
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Reggie is the truth. Reggie is the way.
"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."For 2014 we're looking at Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, Fatal Frame (Japan only), Sonic Boom, Captain Toad (possibly delayed to 2015 in Europe), and Smash. Wouldn't be too bad if not for the fact that July and August are empty.
For 2015 we're looking at Kirby, Yoshi, Mario Maker, Splatoon, Mario Party, Xenoblade, Devil's Third, Star Fox, and Zelda. SMT x FE also exists, but we don't know much about it. Pokken is still rumored, as are more third party exclusives. Animal Crossing will probably come eventually. Mario Kart and Smash legs will probably make 2015 the Wii U's best year. I don't expect them to outsell the Xbox One unless it craters, but Nintendo might be able to squeeze a profit out of the Wii U if they're lucky.
Still, these losses aren't a good sign, especially since the 3DS doesn't look like it'll have much in 2015 aside from STEAM, maybe Pokemon Z, and maybe Majora's Mask. Maybe Youkai Watch and the like will keep it afloat in Japan. So they'll have to start relying on the Wii U. I hope marketing has finally gotten their heads screwed on right.
I'm starting to think we won't get a general August Direct, just ones for a few specific games. Smash is guaranteed one at least.
Just got Wonderful 101. If I'm going to get Bayonetta I might as well try out Platinum's other offering on the Wii U.
Good luck and hope you like it. It's definitely a really great game, but it can be a bit rough around the edges in areas like framerate drops and certain camera angles.
Yeah I always got the feeling that it could've done with another month or two of tightening.
Nintendo really should partner with LEGO to make some Lego toys for their franchises.
The brand loyalty to Lego brand is really incredible, and LEGO would also make much better quality block toys than the cheap knock-off brands Nintendo partners with now. Plus people love Nintendo's franchises too, so all said I'm certain it would be profitable.
Plus, that might open up a Super Lego Mario video game, Lego Pokemon, etc.
