An expy of Charlie Pace from Lost. :D
Fantastic Weapon Generator!Actually, just have the Doctor visit the Island and meet the actual Charlie Pace. He'll solve 4 seasons worth of mysteries in a single episode while he's at it.
Charlie didn't die! The Doctor picked him up at the last minute! :D
Fantastic Weapon Generator!Aaaand that is now my personal headcanon. |D
While we're here, Hugo would've made a great companion.

Hurley would be an awesome companion. I WANT TO SEE THAT NOW.
Fantastic Weapon Generator! What do people think of adding my companions - someone from Holby? Logical enough, seeing as both Casualty and Doctor Who film in the same locations, since it's BBC Wales producing it.
How about Philip K Dick?
Maybe we should just speculate as to which historical figures show up next season.
I want Leonardo da Vinci. Reuse the Venice sets and location footage.

It's not over. Not yet.The locations were filmed in Croatia, you do realise. It's not exactly a short hop for the crew.
Besides, Leonardo seemed to come across as a historical figure that the Doctor always visits but never or almost never sees, kind of like the Terrible Zodin.

Not to mention, he's not exactly famous for living in Venice.
Quaritch.
He's like fire and ice and rage. He's ancient and forever. He burns at the centre of time. Rory punched him in the face.Am I the only one that thinks Quaritch would be the exact type of person who the Doctor would fight against?

Why would you even ask that? You're the first person who's replied to the idea. I wasn't really serious, but you're probably right.
He's like fire and ice and rage. He's ancient and forever. He burns at the centre of time. Rory punched him in the face.If you're talking about Quaritch from Avatar, he's a bigoted militarist. Of course the Doctor would kick his ass.
Yeah, I know. But it'd be fun.
There's no rule saying the companion can't turn out to be a villain, is there?
He's like fire and ice and rage. He's ancient and forever. He burns at the centre of time. Rory punched him in the face.Let's compromise and have Captain Nathaniel Taylor instead.
It's not over. Not yet. That works, and there's already timey-wimey involved! Great idea. Especially since it opens up the possibility of Daleks fighting dinosaurs. Or Rory fighting dinosaurs.
He's like fire and ice and rage. He's ancient and forever. He burns at the centre of time. Rory punched him in the face.We NEED Nostradamus as a companion.
Ashley Riot. Play Vagrant Story and you will understand why.
I would like to see Katie Leung play a companion. For those who don't know, Katie played Cho Chang in the Harry Potter films. I think Katie's character would be a rigid sort, maybe a law student. She'd meet the Doctor when one of her professors at uni was revealed to be an alien. I think she would question the Doctor a lot, and give her opinions on the situation, and be the orderly, well-planned person to the Doctor's making it up as he goes kind of planning. With him, she would lighten up a bit, and with her, he would be more content with being himself (because Eleven's childlike actions are rather mask-like at times). I actually have a whole headcanon for her to be honest. If you're asking for characters, Cho would still be good in my opinion. Fiercely loyal to her friends, and because of Cedric and Harry, she would understand his pain over Rose and with will happen with River, even with Amy.
For some reason, I've been stuck on the idea of a very hands on type character for a Doctor companion, like a boxer or Mixed Martial artist, someone who's very likely to try and solve his or her problems with fists, but not because they are not smart enough to do things another way, but because that's the method they are best at.
Said character sees themselves as Dumb Muscle, but is good at heart, and the doctor sees that he/she is much smarter than even they realize. Sort of a Brute force Watson to the Doctor's Holmes.
Also, they would learn about Venusian Akido and promptly declare it bullshit (i.e., the doctor just learn regular Akido and added the venusian bit to make it sounder cooler) and constantly try to get into a friendly sparring match to see if it's on the level.

One Strip! One Strip!Sorta like Leela then, in terms of the brute force method, only from the modern day/future and aware of their own ignorance?
In all seriousness, I think the Doctor should have a Dalek companion. Not some human enslaved by the Daleks, like that Oswin character (...Or So I Heard; I haven't seen Asylum yet), but an actual Dalek.
They could somehow be a good Dalek, one which isn't wholly obsessed with genocide, and devoted to the Doctor, but still willing to solve problems with extermination. It would be interesting if the Dalek idolised the Doctor, in a way, while the Doctor views it with contempt and wariness...

Change, my dear, and not a moment too soon.
