Even though this trailer (propably) spoils the climax, it got me interested.

MONKEY WAR!

On another note, the usage of The X of Y of Z naming convention should be banned. It looks atrocious.

[up]That trailer actually makes this look entertaining. Also is Caesar supposed to be the main character? Honestly that's the vibe I got from the trailer.

Yeah, the main character appears to be either Caesar or James Franco's character.

So basically, our protagonist is either a sunken-eyed, stone-faced, inexplicably popular ape engaged in bizarre projects, or a CGI chimp.

Personally hope it's the former, I loved the costumes used in the previous remake of Planet of the Apes. Also Crowning Music Of Awesome for it's opening score.

I don't get the hate for James Franco. Are people really still mad at him for the Oscars? Also if anyone should be at blame over that, it's ABC's fault. Franco reportedly wanted out (due to a busy schedule) but ABC refused as they couldn't see Anne Hathaway hosting by herself (which creates Unfortunate Implications).

[up][up][up]what you did there.

I SEE IT.

I don't know what you're ragging on him for, though, I loved 127 Hours. Also, he was good in Spider-Man. So what if he gets stoned and then shows up to host the Oscars? It's everyone else's fault for caring so much about a shitty popularity contest.

Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone.

A point worth making re the Vietcong comparison. They used guns not spears. Also they didn't fight like the apes. They wouldn't have gotten very far if they had.

I find the CGI Chimp the more realistic character.

It's more hype backlash than dislike. He's OK in most things, good in 127 Hours, not particularly bad in anything, but I don't see the greatness. Also, his art projects aren't too inspired.

So this film already has an expected downer ending of the apes dominating the Earth.

Ugh.

[up]Is it a downer ending if the main character is the head ape? Although I guess you could say he's a villain protagonist.

It's only a downer ending cause we're human :P.

I saw this trailer before X-Men: First Class and found the CG to be pretty Narm-tastic.

But when I was describing it to someone later, I could have sworn the title was "Evolution" or something generic like that. I didn't remember that it was connected to Planet Of The Apes at all. Weird.

"It's our world, but their planet" or whatever has to be the worst tagline of all time.

It should be remembered that no guerilla or terrorist campaign has ever been successful without external support and financing. So unless Greenpeace is smuggling the apes cash and guns. . .

I've said it elsewhere, but if they want people to take the scenario seriously, they should have the apes try to smuggle themselves to Africa, or somewhere else with both:

1. An extant population of apes that can provide "recruits" and breeding material

2. A very low level of overall civic stability

Drop a few hundred intelligent apes in the right portions of Africa, and a few decades down the line, you could have Gorilla City.

[up]Dude, its a terrible pun thats been done before. Doesn't have anything to do with the series anyway, since there are other apes involved.

So yeah, NO.

Read some reviews, its....pretty good apparently. I guess the naysayers can I dunno, go suck it or something.

I would just like to say that I thought it looked to be a decent movie the first time I saw the trailer.

[up] Tom Felton appears to be playing Draco Malfoy, Sadistic Lab Technician. I want to see his face get chimped off.

Seems like his character is less "arrogant, snobbish, male Libby Bishōnen" and more "impulsive asshole" in this film, though.
