Oh man, I have very fond memories of Code Lyoko. I just happened to be within the target demographic when it first came to the US, and I was suckered instantly with its humor, action, and catchy-as-hell music (seriously, the theme song is pretty much the reason why I love electronic/techno). Looking back on it, I'm able to further appreciate a lot more. I'm still kinda surprised as to how much it was able to get away with on Cartoon Network.
While it is upsetting to see the 2D replaced (I personally think Code Lyoko's the closest any Western company's gotten to being truly Animesque), I will admit that the animated stuff did have problems. The overall animation always felt very cheap and stiff even by standards of 5 years ago (it became most apparent in Season 4, since the Lyoko Warriors could virtualize in the real world), and the dubbing had a tendency to frequently reach Speed Racer levels of dialogue spacing (and thank you previous posters for mentioning that it's also in the French dub). With shows like My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic showing how smooth Adobe Flash can be it's disappointing to see Moonscoop not try to step up their game, but I definitely won't denounce the live action so quickly. I'll surely give it a chance.
Also I'm hoping for the plot to be a little tighter. CL had a problem with being absolutely gorged in Filler, so I'm hoping with 26 episodes planned that most of the episodes will actually have importance. The plot does seem to be interesting though, with XANA revived by Deckard Enterprises and all (another thing I've be able to appreciate is all the references to Philip K Dick).
3 questions this show must answer: Will Jeremy get to go to Lyoko, will Sissi join the group, and, most importantly, will William actually do something of note as a good guy?

I still think the new villains should have been called Tyrell.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatYeah, that would've been cool. At least give it to the bad guy to complete the Blade Runner reference. Alan Meyer's kind of a stupid name in comparison.
Also, just noticed the Motor Mouth trope, and that while Speed Racer is mentioned (albeit briefly) Code Lyoko isn't. Too late for me to do anything right now, but I'll definitely add it tomorrow or something.
Hmm, maybe I should get around to finishing my Code Lyoko / ReBoot crossover fanfic...
DO EET!
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatI just want to see Lyoko Jeremy. Do that, and I will be happy. I felt so teased when he got to go in and we didn't see anything.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaThat was the point. Whatever it was, it's a source of deep personal embarrassment to Jeremie. That's why he never goes in.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatWell, it's been months, and a lot's been revealed since the last post. Which was by me.
Since then, we've seen everyone's faces, been shown an new character, the trailer's been released in French and English, and it's going to air in 2 days.
Here's the trailer, if anybody's still interested:
That was AWESOME.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987I shouldn't watch that trailer so soon after an Animorphs Live Action nostalgia trip. It'll just make me jaded about it.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. It's gonna be weird hearing them with new voices, but if I could get used to the dubbing of the original, I can get used to this.

You know, it looks better than I thought. I was initially annoyed by the whole live action thing but it seems to be working pretty well for them. The characters aren't quite how I imagined them but I could at least tell who everyone was without any names being said. Lyoko itself looks beautiful as ever.
They seem to have a few problems with the lip synching but if the rest of the show is good I can get past that. The original show had a few moments too but I think they were less noticeable since it was animated.
The voices are different but hearing the originals on top of the actual child actors would be weird, at the least it looks like it's holding true to the personalities and it otherwise feels like a continuation of the original and not a reboot. Though I can see that making a live action segment will heavily limit their capacity to show Xana's influence in the real world, even though that was minimized in the fourth season.
I always found the Lyoko segments more interesting anyway.
The CGI sequences look amazing...but the live action just lacks the charm. And out of all of them, Odd's new voice is gonna be the hardest to get used to. Heck, I couldn't even tell which one of the live-action kids was him.
I think I'm liking Odd's new voice better than the old one. It's not so grating when it's someone who actually sounds like a kid, and not a man pretending.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatAnother limitation is going by the talents of child actors, nothing seemed too bad but you aren't going to get the same quality. Lastly there is a greater disconnect by virtue that the Lyoko designs were based on their animation models and thus look significantly different than the live action actors.
Still helps the whole "Virtual avatars" thing, though.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatEverybody say it with me! THIS IS GONNA SUCK!!!
Surely you mean "Ruined FOREVER", right?
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatI'll wait until it comes out before I make any judgements. Initially I thought it would be terrible but this actually doesn't look too bad.
Well it comes out in France at least in two days, so that's one thing we'll have before Doomsday.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatThe only part of that that looked good is the Lyoko segment. And I hate the fact that they changed the voices. I expect this to fail hard.
Huh, they're dubbing it, and not replacing the actors. Well.
Read my stories!
Moonscoop's keeping the live-action stuff under tight wraps, even going so far as to mask out the faces of the live-action Lyoko Warriors. All I know is that the Supercomputer's back online (duh), there may be a new co-baddie, William's back but he's keeping his new costume, they've got a new car, and there's a couple new monsters. Nothing detailed.
