Recently replayed MGS 1, featuring such classic lines as:
"Excellent Snake. Age hasn't slowed you down one bit."
and
"You look terrible Snake. You haven't aged well."
I had to chuckle.
The more they release these prequels the harder it fit Big Boss's personality in these games with how he is by Metal Gear 2, because he did some really horrible shit to people in that game.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.I expect them to remake it in the future. Would be nice for all the fans who never got to play them for whatever reason.
Metal Gear and Solid Snake??? they were released with MGS 3
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/They should remake them. Yes, they'd probably fuck them up, but it'd be nice to play those games on a modern console.
On a side note, I'm playing 4 again, and I can't help but wonder, am I the only one who thinks Snake looks a bit like David Tennant in the beginning of Act 3? You know, when the camera pans from behind him?

No, no remakes, just more reason for fans to complain
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/Fans are fans, one of the downsides of fandoms is that they always complain, so invariably it doesn't matter how good or bad a game is, someone will hate it. Be it Ben Croshaw's minions, Metal Gear's Hate Dom, People who liked the original MSX games and think the remakes are a disgrace on their name, people who didn't like the MSX games and think they shouldn't even have a remake, people who hate the games yet somehow keep playing them for no good reason, people who are trying to look cool by hating on it, etcetera, there will always be someone who hates them.
I, personally, would love to see them remade for the sake of continuity. There's plenty of stuff that could be Retconned to fit in better with the canon.
Would I be correct in assuming that this is the general discussion thread for the Metal Gear series?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. That would be correct, I assume.
Does anybody who bought the HD collection actually has the original games (all three of them)? If yes, why did they buy it then?

People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.I don't own any of them anymore, nor the HD collection, but why not? Sure, it's the same game, but in HD, with trophies and whatnot. I don't see why not buying it. It's not even that expensive, anymore.
I gotta agree with The Snake Soup on this one. Linkie
visit my blog!Watched a few trailers and teasers for Metal Gear Rising Revengeance for the first time.
.... God, please let this game pull through and reach the local stores!
Okay, thanks. BTW, does Metal Gear fan-made stuff get discussed here as well? Because I have this question here that involves a spinoff on Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns Of The Patriots' BB Corps, and have yet to recieve any feedback on it whatsoever, so I figured I'd ask the actual Metal Gear fanbase of this site.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.so,the japanese voice-actor of Colonel Campbell(who also voiced Granin in MGS 3 and did a minor character in Peace Walker),Takeshi Aono, passed away recently. Now I'm feeling bad.You guys would be surprised to see how many japanese voice-actors involved with the MGS games have died in the lastest 10 years like: Kaneto Shiozawa(Gray Fox),Kazuyuki Sogabe(Psycho Mantis),Kouji Totani(Revolver Ocelot),Kazumi Tanaka(The Fear),Daisuke Gouri(Scott Dolph in MGS 2 and Cunningham in Portable Ops.).I'm gonna miss the guy,he was particularly creepy(just like Paul Eiding was)in MGS 2 when THAT starts to happen...
Never knew any of them or heard any of their works, so it's hard to say or feel anything...
I think the only time I've heard the seiyuu for the MGS-games was in the Super Smash Bros Brawl-trailer. But that voice for Colonel Campbell was perfect. Sad to hear that he and so many others are gone.
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!some homages to him were made on youtube:

"All worlds begin in darkness and all so end. The heart is no different."-AnsemAre you still on the Tanker, or Big Shell?
Big Shell. I don't really need help getting through the game I need help understanding what the heck is going on. Ok what I remember os that Ocelot was about to get in RAY the his arm took over his mind. RAY ran away and now Snake is being called Raiden.
"All worlds begin in darkness and all so end. The heart is no different."-AnsemSolid Snake is no longer the player character at this point; you are now playing a whole different character named Raiden. This what is called And Now for Someone Completely Different.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. If you're talking about the plot, MGS 2 makes a little more sense if you played the first one (although it still gets confusing at the end regardless). Either find a Playstation copy, get it off Playstation Network (assuming you have a PS 3), or if you're desperate, get the Gamecube remake (it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be though.)
While MGS 3's story is connected to the other games, it can be enjoyed as a standalone experience without playing any of the previous games (although it's full of in-jokes and references to previous games.)
Peace Walker's story is heavily tied to MGS 3, so storywise it's best to do it after MSG 3 or MGS 4.
MGS 4 more or less requires that you know the story of every game except Peace Walker.
Gameplaywise, they get complex and clever as the series goes on. So playing them in order is suggested to avoid Damn You, Muscle Memory!.
Wow, that was a lot to type.
"Pancakes. Oh, I blew it." - Joel Hodgson Nobody better lay a Butterfinger on my 3DS!The first part of Big Shell is meant to be confusing. Don't worry, it'll start to make sense soon... for a little bit. You'll know that you're making progress when you get past all those cutscenes and find Peter Stillman.
I...wait what???? Ok I guess I'll just have to play some more thanks. I have the XBOX 360 version by the way.

Finished up MGS 3:3D just now.
It's as good a game as I remember, and I got the Infinity facepaint this time around.
I don't think I'll be starting another playthrough for a little while, though.
I have a message from another time...
