Discussion of religion in the context of LGBTQ+ rights is only allowed in the LGBTQ+ Rights and Religion Thread.
Discussion of religion in any other context is off topic in all of the "LGBTQ+ rights..." threads.
Attempting to bait others into bringing up religion is also not allowed.

Yeah, the "no crossdressing" thing was rendered completely irrelevant centuries ago. Hell, high heels were men's shoes at first. The fedora was originally a women's hat.
And if you bring up the "men should act like men and vice versa" thing, you end up with the problem of defining what masculinity actually means. Otherwise you get stuff like the big muscled men in North America are traditionally seen as really masculine, but in Japan, it overlaps a ton with a gay stereotype.
Not Three Laws compliant.Pink used to be a man's color!
Not mine though, it clashes with my skin tone.
It's one thing to deny yourself something because it goes against your religious beliefs, but you can't use that to deny somebody else anymore.
The old standards are falling! Now there is integration, equalization...
Christianity is gonna have to change big if it still wants to be respectable...
One thing I know about straight people is they generally don't go to these ridiculous lengths to prove they're straight. So Oklahoma, if you don't want to be seen as a state full of closet cases, stop acting like it.
Christianity doesn't have to change. Insane right wing evangelicals have to change. They've got to realize that they're flat out ignoring 90% of Jesus' teachings just so they can oppress people they dislike.
Not ridiculous lengths.
Maybe it's just that both sides don't listen to each other. I can guess that the other side is afraid of change and lashes out with laws to keep what they're used to, because they still find LGBT's repulsive.
I can't think of many solutions to that, except more social exposure and discussion.
It's hard to bring about social exposure when one side is carrying out such barbaric actions that US allies are issuing travel warnings and telling their LGBT citizens to stay away, as the UK has done.
Christianity would have to first be all on the same page, which it hasn't been since about 5 minutes after Jesus ascended.
Now the majority of Chirianity is going to have to get everyone to not think "asshole evangelicals" when someone says "Christians" if it wants respect, and we're working on it.

Uh, everyone? This ain't the religion thread.
Do we need split threads anymore? Not only does it make things difficult due to the dominance of religion as a reasoning for this stuff, but the only reason we had it in the past was due to some very specific conditions.
I've shifted over to the other thread already, but it would be nice if we could have the thread split reconsidered, the logic behind it never seemed to be strong and it doesn't seem to have aged well.
"And the Bunny nails it!" ~ Gabrael "If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we." ~ CyranI'll admit, it is hard to keep the religion out of the politics thread when religion keeps shoving itself into politics.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI suppose anti-LGBT legislation by conservative American Evangelical Christian politicians and their rationale for doing so can go here.
If we are to discuss the beliefs of their churches on LGBT issues, I feel that that would fit better in the religion thread
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotRogue government official is still crying persecution.
Of course, her definition of persecution is collecting a paycheck for no work. No word on whether her fourth husband has made death threats against any more judges.
Continuing the southern tradition of refusing to accept federal laws, I see.
You lost, Kim Davis. We can get married. Screw you.
Is she really suffering from a terminal case of FITH, or is she that desperate to find something to give her life meaning now that everyone knows how pathetic she truly is?
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotShe's just an attention seeker now.
"Yup. That tasted purple."I saw in the news that Oklahoma's governor vetoed the bill. Good for her.
She vetoed the abortion bill that was going through at the same time.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Right. I couldn't remember what the vetoed bill was about, but now you mention it, I remember.
What is the abortion bill about?
Something better asked in the US politics thread I think.

Fuck it, I want a Anglican or other sane denomination (or even religion) kid to assert their religious right to have transgender kids use the bathroom matching their gender, two can play at this game.
Religious freedom means freedom for more then just Evangelical Protestant Christians, they need to learn that.
