King Of Fighters general

The "Running Wild 91" patch reminds me of those Hulkamania signs that Hogan got in the mid 2000s. These models really are improving vastly, which makes it so baffling that they would release the original trailer in the graphical state it was in, but I will say one thing about that. I'd rather have a game look better then the trailer released then the other ubisoft way of doing it, having a tech demo that the game could never live up to on any hardware.

Maybe they were on a rush to announce the game and didn't wanted to wait for something like TGS or só?

Apparently the Chinese kid with the headphones is the new hero this time?

His design feels a little busy and I don't see him being as popular as the heroes before him.

To be fair, Ash was about as far from Hero as one could get design wise. This new guy at least looks heroic, if a bit tryhard trendy.

Both K' and Ash could both be considered 'a little busy' for when they were made, and look at how they turned out. (Well, K' anyway.) Besides, Shun'ei isn't really anything new. You see his kind of overly busy design in anime and Japanese videogames all the time. This is just following the trend.

K' 's design is pretty to the point I'd say. Leather jacket, black pants, shades.... Nothing too wild.

Ash's outfit is just a tight fighting red outfit with a flame motif. He's got a couple of eyecatching accessories but nothing too garish.

Shun'ei's got headphones on, a white shirt, a purple tie, black pants, a red belt, a black and red dragon themed belt loop, a pant leg that's rolled up.... it's so much to take in and it just feels like he's drowning in details. It's almost like looking at some of the more over the top Final Fantasy characters rather than someone from KOF.

He looks like he's trying too hard to be hip, with the headphones/pants rolled up on one leg and jack hanging off the back thing. All these together make him look like a nomura character, minus the zippers.

I don't see how ash or K' are busy either. In fact they're some of the more simple designs compared to other cast members from each of their eras.

K's design is simple enough, it's his personality that puts people off. Kid tries too hard to act all angst and edgy, which just ends up making him looks immature and try hardy.

The new kid looks like a cross between a Vocaloid character and a terrible cosplayer.

Just thought I'd post around here to express my interest in playing XIV when it eventually comes out. I was hoping Yamazaki would be in the game (he would have been perfect as the third member of Team South Town instead of the butler guy who I'm not sure has actually been seen in anything before now), but I guess you can't have everything. I'll probably only use Team Ikari anyway; if I play against other people, that is. I'm not sure how popular the series is here in Europe.

You'll likely be facing a lot of Latin Americans and Koreans, assuming the online servers are worldwide and not regional.

It's the Art of Fighting Team trailer this week, with the first real look at Yuri... which is what I would say if she hadn't already been in all of those videos from the exhibitions for the new 36 character build that SNK's been showing all around Japan since last weekend. (Along with Hein if you're interested in checking them out.) But yeah, she still looks pretty darn good, and if you look at the JP site with the movelists for the 36 character build, she's still got every single move from her oversized XIII movelist, which just became more oversized with that new super from the trailer. Either way, HYPE!

... Is she really older than Mai? Because she does not look nor behave even remotely close to being 20-something. Either that, or she's perpetually on a sugar rush because her family and boyfriend are oblivious to her being oversensitive to sugar and frequently feed her sweet things as some sort of weird penance for failing to protect her in AOF1.

Oh, and here's to hoping that SNK doesn't kowtow to Moral Guardians by eventually censoring Yuri's butt-slap like Capcom did with Cammy.

I admit, it's hard to believe, considering Yuri and Mai are so different in appearance. If you looked at them, you'd definitely assume Mai was the older of the two.

Yeah, Yuri's always supposedly been 20, despite her appearance and behavior making her seem more like 16-ish. Hell, in XIII she looked 13.

She and Robert are apparently official now.

Same with, of all people, Andy and Mai.

HOLY SHIT.

Let's not jump to conclusions people. All Robert's bio says is, 'Robert is secretly in love with Yuri'; nothing to suggest that they're actually an official couple or anything. (Though yes, Andy and Mai at least are a thing.)

Mai being into Andy is definitely a thing, but the only "thing" about Andy is that he keeps ignoring Mai's affections for no apparent reason ^note Seriously, the quest for vengeance on Geese Howard has over for years in-universe, what's his reason now? Even his brother Terry is practically officially hooked up with Mary!. That is, with the exception of the anime continuity, in which she gets kidnapeed by the Big Bad... and they still go back straight to square one after he heroically rescues her. Or so I heard, anime-wise; I didn't get to watch it.

And there is also the matter where she manages, in one special intro in one of the previous games, to make him panic with a fake blonde-haired (and persumably very realistic-looking) baby doll, implying one of three possibilities:

1. His knowledge of sex is severely wonky.
2. They actually had sex in-between games... and for some unfathomable reason he still acts like they're not a couple. WTH, Andy?!
3. His panic was that Mai for some reason cheated on him with another blonde-haired guy (e.g. Benimaru)... which brings into question his faith in her fidelity. Again: WTH, Andy?!

I mean, honestly, what kind of red-blooded heterosexual/bisexual man who is pursued by one of the hottest women in the world would not reciprocate her desire for him with no obvious justification? This question is probably the driving motive behind many Fix Fics that go the Ship Sinking route towards Mai/Andy: Andy's so-far-inexplicable behavior makes him undeserving of Mai in the writer's eyes, so they either kill him off or take his behavior to what they believe is its logical conclusion so that Mai would finally have enough of this nonsense and break up with him, leaving her free to get hooked up with the writer's preferred character (male or female). That's essentially what happened in the fic Kage no Mai (which is now only available at a limited number of sites, since the original site is gone), at least, where Aoshi Shinomori (who in this world was born in the modern period alongside the KOF characters, and was a Shiranui-ryu student as well) gets paired with Mai after he enacts a plan to get Andy out of the equation (no, blondie didn't die; he was roughed up bad by Aoshi, but survived and decided to stay away and reflect on Aoshi's Hannibal Lecture regarding his behavior towards Mai).

Geese is still alive so no, it isn't.

Andy grew up with Mai while training to defeat Geese so he sees her a childhood friend. That's perfectly understandable.

I thought Geese surviving was technically not canon.

And I take it that Andy hasn't heard of Childhood Friend Romance? Heck, his logic is immediately debunked by the fact that Mai doesn't have a problem with it (I doubt she doesn't see him as a childhood friend in addition to being a Love Interest), so he's fooling nobody but himself.

Uh, no, Andy and Mai are a thing, as of KOF XIV according to the official website. Sure, Andy may have been a completely oblivious douche before, but by this point, he's learned his lesson well enough that he and Mai are now a official couple, even if they should have been one ages ago.
