Without dwindling into a Konami hate tirade, can anyone tell me why that law made SNK move away from Pachinko, and in the same time, Konami instead EMBRACES it? What was the difference?

Konami is run by someone who is quite proud of not understanding video games or their development, for one.

But if they don't understand video games, I had thought that they'd at least understand Pachinko business. I don't expect them to be THIS dumb in life. Dumb in videogames, maybe, but in Pachinko?

Oh well, I for one are not thinking of 'rot in hell' but more like making a public apology and treat their employees better and do a restructurization to the company, sack the ones who doesn't think that Video games won't do well (including that fucking CEO), and just... fill it with those with enthusiasm on video games. Good enough for me. (and don't yank Kojima out of his new company after all these, let him grow free! Just make an apology, mend the bridges, and we're good)

Kim's still a happily married man, don't worry. SNK wouldn't dare upset their Korean fans like that- It's almost as important a foothold for 'em as Latin America.

Don't think that'll ever happen, unless there's been a complete overhaul of Konami's upper management level. Anyways, Konami is like the EA of Japan, they are headed by CEOs who are only interested in increasing the returns of their investments , and, based on the decisions they've made in the last couple of years, have neither any respect nor understanding of the IPs they hold. The whole Kojima debacle was partly due to his games being very expensive to develop, so although they do make the money back, Konami wasn't happy about the costs and profit margins, which was why they gave one of their mobile games branch more resources over Kojima productions, since they made more money. So naturally when Konami sees how much money there is in Pachinko and the relatively small cost to make, they'd want to go all in.

Completely ignoring the push in the political sphere to ban them and the more direct market contractions going on as Japan's economy just keeps contracting as everyone gets old.

Pachisolts aren't likely to ever go away entirely but the market isn't as strong as it was five years ago and keeps shrinking.

People thought for a long time that Capcom or SEGA were the EA of japan.

Meanwhile, Street Fighter V launch aside, Capcom has gotten a lot of Good Graces from people thanks to finally popularizing the previously Niche Monster Hunter franchise in the west, and SEGA have ackknlowedged how shitty they have been in terms of development and localization of titles people want and hope that their buyout of Atlus will help.

Turns out Konami was the worst one of all in terms of being an asshole to employees.

To be fair, Capcom mostly doesn't get in the way of their devs, they just make some sleazy decisions regarding DLC. Sega, meanwhile, just has been in a horrible slump and the gradual infusion of new blood has been getting them to move on, slowly as it's been. It helps that Atlus is a critical darling and a cult classic-publishing machine, and the fact that Sega basically said "we're not actually touching them as long as they keep making money, and we'll even throw in carte blanche to reignite any dormant Sega IPs they want to play with" got them a ton of goodwill.

Konami just kept fucking over their talent for being their talent.

Ah, right, right.

I'm a little sad the Anti-Kyokugen Team didn't become a fixture, because the team of Malin, Eiji and Kasumi makes me happy.

And I guess they thought Malin and her ridiculous impression of Choi Bounge was too broken in 2003 and XI so she's not coming back ever...

Aw, so Malin's been put on a bus again? What a shame, weren't she supposed to come back in XIII?

One final word about the whole 'asshole company' thing before we close it for good: Yes, the only way I could forgive Konami is IF that public apology is given, the CEO step down (or sacked) and never bother that company again (Dunno, let another CEO with different vision, more about gaming, rise up and replace those CEO), and they focus on videogames again. It may be impossible or taking a really big miracle to happen, so giving the forgiveness at this rate is unlikely, but if those actually happen, even against all odds, I will give them the forgiveness. As in, I will not be so vengeful and petty and not grant forgiveness if they deserve it (at this moment, though, they don't.)

Anyway, the names of those new characters should be on the characters page at this rate.

Many men like younger girls and many woman are attracted to older men. It's not so strange.

Also SNK are bringing back the old "The Future Is Now" slogan too and their new logo only has SNK on it so even though Attack On Titan hasn't ended they're saying "fuck all yall" and taking the acronym back

I hope they bring back the old Neo Geo splash screen as well.

I know that. It's still rather unusual for a fictional couple in a fighting game to have such an age disparity, in my experience at least.

How "Mr. Justice Crusader" Kim gets and/or tolerates this guy, I wouldn't know. Maybe he's all business, like TEACH ME YER TECHNIQUES, I WON'T MIND...

Or maybe Kim developed his "Mr. Justice Crusader" personality as a result of his repulsion with his master's Dirty Old Man behavior. Alternatively, he's trying to rehabilitate his master in a roundabout way.

Then it turns out there's an actual emotional connection between them and Kim's master acts like a creep just to get a rise out of people.

And just now I headcanon that Kim met his wife (whom I envision to be a "retired" Action Girl who looks like a traditionally feminine housewife) when he tried to protect a seemingly helpless damsel from one of his master's frequent philandering/groping attempts, only to be awestruck when the girl beats the old geezer up. Turns out he really loves a woman who is just as strong as he is in a fight while also being quite feminine.
