Every season until Archer wakes up or dies is going to end with Lana dying.
Fresh-eyed movie blogNext season will be Dreamland Lana's coma dream within Archer's coma dream. Then that season will end with Double-Dreamland Cyril getting shot seven times in the chest...

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
Eventually, after we cycle through the whole cast, we find out that the prime series was Mallory's dying dream.

Fresh-eyed movie blogMy mom and I finished binge watching the show on Netflix.
Goddamnit, why did they have to end it with a double psych like that?! >__<
On one hand, it was an awesome case of Playing The Player (in TV form). On the other hand, it frustrates me that they ended it like that!
If you just finished what's on Netflix, you're a season behind.
Fresh-eyed movie blogI know I'm a season behind. But I don't have FXX...
I'm glad I read an interview on their plans for this season well before the end as it touched on a few things.
Archer waking up will come, it's not going to stick with Dreamland. It wasn't planned to wake this season or return to real world because it wanted to focus on the noir narrative and that would jar away the suspension of disbelief for it. With the real world, Archer's not going to forget Dreamworld and it'll influence how he treats some other people. People who aided him he'll appreciate and those who caused him trouble he'll hold a grudge with, in spite of the fact they weren't actual them.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.I'm wondering how the finale will affect Lana, though. I cannot imagine them doing a whole season without her.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I imagine it won't matter since Archer likely wakes next season. I don't suspect they'll do Dreamland again because the reason it was done is because they like changing things up and experimenting with the story. It's why jokes like phrasing retired too, they don't want to become complacent.
A shame though she can't be gone. I've realized in rewatching I really don't like Lana.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Speaking of not liking Lana, anyone else think she was being really selfish by having that kid? She was currently in a relationship with Cyril at the time so that's already bad, but it's Archer's sperm and she expects Archer to help raise a child that he didn't even know was coming. The fuck?
3DS FC: 1719-3694-1541She didn't expect him to help raise the child. But since he wanted to be a part of the child's life (after drinking and whoring the shock and rage of the situation off first) she expected him to clean his act up a bit.
This is all made very clear when tells him that if she, and only she dies, then Abagine is going to live with her parents, and if something happens to them, her sister. He's not even her second choice to take care of the kid.

It's not like the show ever tries to pretend she's the moral center of the group. She's just (usually) more professional about her work.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! She also staged a terrorist kidnapping of their daughter because she wanted to test Archer.
And said she would rather miscarry than marry Archer.
My various fanfics. To be fair, she immediately regretted that last one, but the first thing was just straight up crazy.
And?
Archer has gotten allies and innocents killed due to his irresponsibility, and subjected Woodhouse to horrific levels of abuse.
Cyril infected the ISIS mainframe with a worm just so he could play hero, and became dictator of a country with full intention to rule for life and force the former first lady to be his wife.
Pam and Ray are both implied to have raped an unconscious Cyril, the latter on multiple occasions.
Dr. Krieger is a murderer, tried to sell uranium to North Korea, and conducts incredibly unethical experiments without the consent of the test subjects. Also guilty of cumming in employee lunches.
Cheryl is violently bigoted toward dwarfs and the disabled, and a serial arsonist.
And Malory is Malory.
Singling Lana out for her depravity kinda misses the point of the show I think.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Yeah, they're all terrible people.
The baby thing was fucked up on so many levels. As Archer best put, his issue is that Lana took his sperm and impregnated herself with it. Which is just really fucked up. Archer seemed fine to help when it was his choice. When he learned what she did, that's when he had a breakdown.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Except for Milton!
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!@Ano Yes, them being horrible people is part of the joke. But it's just an ingredient in the whole recipe of who each character is. And some work differently in it.
I actually was thinking it about that as I feel that assessment doesn't suffice at getting to the root of things. I've thought about how horrible everybody else is, but they still amuse me or I've pleasant memories surrounding them as well. Something about Lana's execution bothers me. My immediate thoughts involve her seeming more malicious at times, but I'm not sure what it is yet.
Oh and I do dislike Cyril as well, but that's irrelevant. I know why I dislike him.

Improving as an author, one video at a time. It's because all of those other character's actions are supposed to be awful and stupid. But Lana isn't really portrayed that way. Her insanely selfish method and timing of getting pregnant weren't presented as selfish, we were just supposed to root for her for wanting to become a mother.
In her defense though I don't think she "stole" Archer's sperm; I think he donated it or something. That still doesn't make him responsible for any potential offspring it creates.
3DS FC: 1719-3694-1541I think we are actually supposed to see Lana's choice to use Archer's sperm specifically as seriously messed up.
Fresh-eyed movie blogYeah, we're not supposed to think that her doing that without telling him (or Cyril, for that matter) is okay.
Even she admits that, albeit it in a "try and sweep it under the rug" sort of way, when she's telling Archer the truth.

Anyone asked for a crossover with Archer and Kingsman?
The weirdest part of that was when Archer said, "Yes, she's dead! Forever and ever! On infinite fucking Earths!" That's just a strange thing to say.
