Thought we'd stuff it full.: Useful Notes.Gun Accessories

Well, I was over in Gun Porn and I suggested we fill out UsefulNotes.Gun Accessories like it was a character page with little images for each part. Since Tuefel was kind enough to dig up images, I thought we should start an IP thread for it.

First off, do you think it's a better idea to show the item or the the item on a gun and then highlighted?

For muzzle brake, I'm thinking this one◊ or this one w/gun◊ and crop the right side off.

For compensator, I like this, but I think this is not an example◊, this other wise◊

Silencer◊ or possibly a link to the page (I'm positive we have one).

Launching cup.◊

Grenade launching adapter◊.

Bayonet lug: This◊ and this◊ spliced together maybe.

Bipod◊

Tripod◊

Traversing and elevation◊

Laser site: top left.◊

IR lamp: not sure, couldn't find one I liked.

Choke◊

Breaching shotgun: this◊ or these◊ two◊ are good for "attachments".

Gun shield: this◊ will work if it's shrunk enough.

Muzzle protector◊

Hand guard: I like this one◊ because it's already highlighted.

Vertical fore grip◊

Quick Change Barrels is kind of hard, I think this◊ is pretty good though.

Ok my few cents worth. I can't view all of them at work but you have good selections. The Vertical grip is a very good example. I like the first muzzle break picture best.

Compensators and muzzle brakes are actually the same thing. They redirect muzzle flash to reduce or compensate for recoil and reduce wear and tear on the recoil mechanism.

On silencers/suppressors also showing a M-4 with one is a good idea if possible.

Also on the breaching shot guns I can only see one pic the picture is pretty good but I want to look for something that shows the muzzle adapter and the breaching round contents.

BFA is a good one they also make bfas for .50 cals and MK-19's as well as bushmaster cannons. If I can I will find a better picture if I can't use the one you cropped it works well enough.

Quick change barrels are hard to do. If I can I will find a picture of a barrel change in action showing them changing out the barrel.

Does everyone think those images are good? I don't want to have to redo a bunch of these uploads.

Only one I would change is the gun shield.

When folks say gun shield this is usually what they mean. I have yet to see one like in the video game.◊ There are a few varieties including bullet proof glass versions. Ones like in the video game would be oppressively heavy.

I do sort of like that one. The most commonly encountered variety of gun shield will be a piece of solid metal.

Alright, any one want something besides my links? I don't remember them, so I'll probably just grab the previous ones. What sizes should they be? I'm going to guess around 200 pixels should be good since we're going to be alternating them, yes?

Okay, I'm trying to do them in Sandbox.Gun Accessories. Problem is, I'm not organizing them right, I guess the | coding doesn't work right. Anyone know how to help?

I fiddled with the coding a bit...are you wanting two pics for each accessory, one one on each side of the description?

Well, the first entry covers two things, the others mostly cover one.

We could always drop the second picture on the first entry. The first picture is the most common variant I've seen.

What you could do is make a new pic that combines the two pics in the first entry into one, then put it back in and take out the coding for the third box, and that way the layout would be uniform.

EDIT: Taking out the second pic would definitely be easier.

I removed it and bumped the next one over so that it stopped stretching.

I was originally planning to do the thing where the images alternate sides and the text is forced to line up with the top of the image, but I don't know how.

I edited the page to show that. Now, I dunno how to force the boxes to be the same width.

Because of how the | coding works. It matches the largest one. It's covered on Text-Formatting Rules under "tables".

I think there's a way to make it line up without using tables, but I'm not sure how to do it.

Okay, I'm just going to move everything to one side.
