Something had caught Dante's eye, which made him glance at the bag simply sitting there in the view. He wasn't the only one who had noticed it, as Samus pointed it out for the others to see. It certainly proved that someone was around here but...bag just lying there in the middle of the beach, obviously in view for them to see.

It was too perfect. He wasn't going to say it was a trap right away, but it was enough to make him suspicious. Years of experience taught him that if something looked like a trap, it probably was.

"We don't have any other leads, let's crack open that baby up." He said with a small smirk, before glancing at Beatrix above him. "Think you can play cover for us?" The Chatot responded with a small peep before fluttering up into one of the palm tree ferns. At the very least, she could probably alert them to anything close enough to start a riot. With that said and done, he ruffled his coat and made headway for the bag...

Only to be stopped mid-stride by a woman appearing out of one of the trees and pointing a shotgun at them, always a good first impression. Her voice trembled ever so slightly, but her demands were clear - she wanted to know just who the hell they were. The way her hands were shaking and the way she trembled, it was obvious that she was shaken up by their appearance. It made him wonder...

"You always welcome people by pointin' guns at them?" he joked with a grin, putting a hand on his hip. But still, he had to think fast - this one looked like she wouldn't have many convictions with shooting them in the face. And if she did, he'd have to be ready to pull out his own on her...but she seemed more scared than hostile, and that spoke volumes. "Just chill, we're not gonna rough you up."

"Hell, chances are you're just as lost as the rest us."

Hayate was quiet as he walked along the trail, following the others. He was sorry for the robot's death, but most of his sympathy was for Jenny. She seemed pretty crushed. Still, with the proper tools, maybe everything would be -

The screaming started, and a shower of rocks and other projectiles flew towards the group in front of him. Instinctively, he spun around, catching two stones that happened to be aimed at him with incredible speed, and jumped back to dodge most of the rest. He landed on his feet - then froze. Dozens. There was dozens of them. He watched as the strange chimpanzee-humans came out of the foliage with crude weapons in their hands, and feral snarls on their faces. The rest of the group appeared to be incapacitated. Their enemies were still closing in.

That settled it. There was a gust of wind - then the first of the ape-men would find himself knocked to the ground by an incredibly powerful flying kick, seemingly out of nowhere. Another one would find himself the victim of a similarly strong roundhouse kick to the side of the head.

Hayate landed in front of Jenny, helping her to her feet. "I've got your back."

With that, he rushed into battle, aiming a strong punch at the belly of one of the creatures.

Alex faltered for a minute. Lost? They are lost? It made sense. If these people were dropped here, the same as her, and had managed to procure a boat, then it would be possible they were also victims here. However...

Alex aimed the shotgun at a nearby tree and fired. The tree began burning a sickly purple before turning to more traditional colors. She then pointed the gun at their feet. "Say I-I believe you. I still don't trust you..."

However, the main battle had been won, she was now hesitant to fire.

The island didn't look particularly promising at first. On the plus side, Lina did find a stick that she could use for a fishing pole later, so that part of her own objectives on the island mission was complete. Moments later the others pointed out an abandoned bag, and then a girl stepped out from behind a tree with a gun aimed out at them.

Back in her world, guns weren't generally lethal, just painfully bruising. Here, though, Lina had seen that they did a bit more than leave a person black and blue. Nonetheless, in this big of a group she doubted that she would be the girl's first target if she were to shoot - and with that being the case, Lina would have plenty of time to cast a spell to stop her. The girl was too outnumbered to do anything stupid, if she knew what was good for her. Except put on a pretty purple display.

"That mean you woke up to find yourself on this God-forsaken rock, too?" Lina asked, not unkindly. "Welcome to Extremus! Population: us, and some rather unpleasant creatures. Nice to meet you. Lina Inverse, sorceress supreme, at your service!" Lina bowed, flourishing her cape for effect.

In no time the mystery person had left their hiding spot to greet the group...by pointing her weapon at them. Judging by the way she had been talking, she wasn't taking this situation too well. The question of how long this person was here did come to mind, judging by her condition she didn't appear to have been here long. They should probably explain before something rash had happened.

So, after Dante and Lina had said something, Samus decided to add to elaborate on it. "How long have you been stuck here? You might not know what's going on...You've been trapped here, just like we are. Something has been pulling...well anything into this land, no one here is home anymore...obviously." She started, and as usual she never once broke her calm demeanor despite the gun being pointed at the group. She did lower it after firing at a tree...some kind of warning shot, which still didn't phase the Hunter at all.

"Whether you trust us or not, we may the the only means for you to get off of this island and crossing this ocean. Now then...who are you?" She asked the girl.

On the island, laying on a rock under the beating sun of this bizarre ocean wasteland, was a deck of cards. There were about 22 cards in this deck, all with the same image on the back. The cards didn't have a case or anything holding them together, only the odd lack of wind kept them stationary. The cards almost seemed to glow faintly blue for a split second, but it was hard to tell unless someone was watching them intensely

Calming breaths, that was the ticket of the day. Upon hearing that she was not the first person that they had run across like this, Alex slumped. The shotgun was pointed downward (although not at herself. She wasn't that emotionally tired), although she gripped the handle below the trigger in a death grip. "Alexandra Roivas. I-I woke up here this morning. I don't remember how." She gripped her head, muttering to herself. This isn't happening. This isn't happening. This isn't happening. Any moment she would wake up and be back in her crappy apartment, with the    Tome    safely locked away, not on this beach in the middle of crazyland. This isn't happening.

But it was.

Realizing that she was slipping, coming close to lying in a ball catatonic, Alex muttered to herself. A pair of voices echoed her words as she spoke them. "Xel'lotath Narokath Santak" The runes appeared around her. The spell was only three point, not visually impressive, but neither was it draining. And indeed after it, she did feel better, if only a little.

Mordecai and Rigby glanced at Rogue, but they didn't think too much about her coming back from the dead. From what Mordecai knew, Rigby came back from the dead twice (though Rigby didn't know about his first death and that was due to a Reset Button) and Rigby knew how one of his friends risked his life to bring Rigby back from the dead. So Rogue's experiences weren't too strange to them.

The duo stayed close to each other when the... human things approached them in a hostile way. "Oh boy. These things will haunt my nightmares." Rigby said.

"Same here." Mordecai agreed, preparing to fight.

The chick had responded to Dante's words by pointing the shotgun at a tree and making a pretty purple light show, obviously wanting to show off her skill. Maybe to her loathing, his cocky demeanor hadn't flickered once in the entire display. Maybe she'd proved herself to be more than a sharpshooter with that shot, but she was quickly proving herself to also be just a bit off her rocker.

Case in point, her response to Samus' tidy explanation and question was to point the gun downwards and mumble something about waking up one morning in this hellhole. Jesus, and he thought the way he got pulled in here was shitty. What happened next was definitely not your ordinary thing - she muttered something, the words echoing across in pairs. It sounded suspiciously like a spell ripped from the dark arts, but she looked considerably better afterwards so it couldn't have been all that bad. Demonic magic had a way of having some nasty catches for their benefits.

Still, she was clearly shaken up violently by this whole ordeal. There had to be a better way of going about this, before she snapped and set them all on fire for brunch. "Trust me, you're not the only one who got pulled outta nowhere in this hell hole. I was just workin' on my latest case, and next thing I know I'm in some lady's house in the middle of nowhere. Everyone's in the same shitty boat here." He said, leaning towards her.

"But if you wanna get outta here, we're probably the closest thing you've got to doin' it."

"Okay." Alex said. No longer in the midst of PTSD provoked panicking, she was much calmer. Staring at her bag and contemplating the consequences of leaving the    Tome    on the beach, she shrugged as she walked over to it and picked it up, throwing it over her shoulder. It would be best if no one read it, ever again, and yet somehow Alex knew it wasn't to be. Evil doesn't die, and if one did not take responcibility for it, some other poor Chosen would find the book, somehow, and be decieved as she was. Maybe this time with results greater then petty revenge amongst beings beyond mortal comprehension.

Turning to the rest of the group, she became curious. "You never did answer my question. Who are you?" It wasn't a threat this time, just honest wondering.

Jim watched the cannons fire, seeing the blasts coming as he started to move. Diving to the side might've worked, had Jim been in anything other than this suit of non-powered armor. Thankfully, Jim had already accounted for this, and when he moved, he simply took one step forward...

And fell right off the edge of the boat with a splash as the shots slammed into the back. #19450 flinched as splinters of wood shot out from the point of impact, then started moving. "Move! Get out of their firing range!" she yelled, instinctively pointing her pistols at the ships to lay down some cover fire, before realising there weren't any targets to do that against.

She lowered her pistols, then thought of something else, raised them again, and started firing at one of the turrets. Even if it couldn't damage the turret at all, she might at least draw their fire as she ran along the boat faster than a person of her size should be able to run.

Down in the water, Jim once again sunk to the sea floor, nearly losing balance as he did. Once he had his footing more secure, he glanced up at the bottoms of the attacking boats. He didn't expect to find any convenient dangling ropes or chains to climb or potential weak spots to exploit, but he figured he might as well check.

So the girl, Alex being her name, had only just gotten here this morning...To hae woken up on an island like this alone, Samus really couldn't blame her for sounding the girl for sounding the way she does, it certainly would have been shocking. Then she started to mutter something, with Samus keeping a watchful eye as the runes appeared. Thankfully, they didn't seem to do much besides calming Alex down.

The only thing left to do was to head back to the ship, provided no one else wanted to look around. In the meantime she hadn't really introduced herself yet, so now was the proper time to do that. "I'm Samus Aran." She had said in response to Alex. "We'll be able to explain everything once we get back to the ship..."

Her next comment was then addressed to everyone else on this little team. "Are we going to head back now or see if there's anything useful here?" She asked.

There wasn't much he could do from the boats, so he looked to go into the sea. 47, who was with the group on the islands, shrugged as Samus pondered staying a while and searching the place.

"This Extremus place has a way of hiding very interesting things under every other rock. If we look around, we're bound to find something. The question is if we want to find something potentially dangerous. Or time-wasting; our priority should probably be to get out of this entire curse zone sooner rather than later. I say we return to the ship."

May began to bind the bandages again, trying to think of a way to actually convince Beryl that fighting would not be a good idea.

"...You don't have to fight to be useful to the group, Beryl," she said at last. "There are plenty of things you can do without injuring your wing any further, and crippling yourself won't help anyone." She paused. "Look at it this way. I don't fight the way my Pokemon do, but I'm still useful to my team. I teach them new things, I look after them and I think of strategies to help them fight. In the heat of battle, it can be difficult to concentrate or plan. It's a Trainer's job to know what to do, and to get that across to their teammates. Our group needs unity. We really do need to have someone on the outside of a fight, who can see everything that's going on and come up with a plan. Maybe you could do that?" She finished winding the bandages with a smile. "Besides, you're still one of our main healers. That makes a difference. It really does. Just because you're not in the middle of the fray doesn't mean you can't help."

Jack & Red

Jack paused slightly, looking back at Red. "Catching the real theif makes no difference to our status as criminals unless we can definitively prove our... Innocence. Unless you plan on sticking around this town, I'd simply worry about leaving, Savvy?" Jack said, then put one hand on his chin in thought.

"Getting your little pet back would probably require that we encounter those guards again. Unless the little laddie can get away from them first, I'd just as well not risk it" he added, and turned towards the pillar again. Though this time he walked slower, perhaps waiting for Red to input on that.

Group B, staying team

Jim glanced at Karzahni and nodded, though with the suit this was once again hardly visible. "Those ships up there just came up and opened fire on us, in response to me asking what they wanted" Jim explained, pointing out the bottom of the five ships.

"Yes, I do have to fight to be useful." Raspberyl insisted firmly as May finished, carefully dressing herself once more. As far as she was concerned, this wasn't even up for debate. While she truly appreciated May's concern, this wasn't just about her own injury. She couldn't expect them all to worry about protecting her while she could still fight.

"We need all the help we can get, May. If I hide in the back and just try to keep my wing from moving too much, you guys will have to keep me safe, right? That'll make it tougher for you to fight and will just end up making things worse. We can't afford that happening." Raspberyl reasoned

, managing to keep her expression and voice more or less calm.

"I know I haven't had much of a chance to show what I can do yet, and that's my own fault. It's my fault for running off in the middle of the camp and almost getting everyone killed, and it's my fault that my wing might never be the same again, but I'm a heck of a lot stronger than I look, May. If I don't help out, one of these days, that might be the difference between someone living and someone getting hurt or killed. Whether or not I'll ever be able to fly again won't matter if we're all dead."

"Beryl, you'll be a lot more useful if you manage to get your wing healed without permanently damaging it," May replied, fighting to keep the edge of worry-born frustration out of her voice. The last thing she wanted was to see Beryl do something stupid, but it didn't look like her friend was going to budge. "We can handle the fighting until you get better. I never said you weren't strong enough to fight, it's just that right now that won't help you heal. I wouldn't have Tessen battle with a broken wing. I can't exactly stop you from fighting like I could for her, but as a friend I can ask you to look after yourself. And it's not like the only way you can be useful to the group is by fighting. If every one of us decides to charge into every battle blindly, we'll do more harm than good anyway." She sighed.

The odds of convincing her friend seemed to be fairly low at the moment, but she needed to try. Even if that didn't work, there had to be something she could do to keep Beryl out of the line of fire as much as possible. Maybe if she had one of her Pokemon guard her...

Lee. The eyepatch-clad Linoone seemed to be quite fond of Beryl anyway, and he was, perhaps, just crazy enough to be able to follow the girl around and guard her without drawing suspicion. He was an energetic battler, too, and fast enough to get between Beryl and a threat with relative easy. Not only that, but it would have the nice side-effect of keeping Lee's attention focused, something that May still struggled to consistently achieve. Whether Beryl liked it or not, May was going to do everything within her power to make sure that she didn't cause any more damage to her wing; if that meant having one of her teammates act as an unauthorised bodyguard, then so be it.

Anyway here's Blackwall
