You described it as "Soul Calibur but Hotter and Sexier plus Star Wars", right after going on about how well plotted out and such III was. It did sound like you were saying IV didn't have any identity compared to III.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Its definitely not the most balanced....
Idk, I think people reacting terribly to Link not being in the SCII Online port really killed my interest in guest characters. And looking at most of the SC community at this point, its mainly a bunch of CAS dudes.
As soon as CAS disappears a big chunk of the base is gone.
youtube.com/Fire Trainer 92I also identified it as being still Soul Calibur.
The sad, REAL American dichotomy...people really complained that Link wasn't a fighter for the HD SCII?
Which wasn't on Nintendo systems?
We got both Heihachi and Spawn together! Geez.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.People were livid Link wasn't there.
I mean the port sucked but if it was good, the fact people pretty much protested the game, that a theoretical SCIII AE console release would have been tossed aside I think.
youtube.com/Fire Trainer 92I think the more accurate complaint was that people were upset that it wasn't on a Nintendo system, which of course meant no Link. Anyone complaining that Link wasn't cross-platform were generally educated on how first party titles work and how Nintendo usually does crossovers with other game series.
At least, that's what I saw when SCII HD was still "new".

If was on a Nintendo system, Namco would've definitely lost money lol.
youtube.com/Fire Trainer 92The problem with guests in Soul Calibur is that they're on two extremes. They're either Just Here for Godzilla characters that overshadow the canon characters (eg. Link and Ezio), or they're terrible choices that don't fit the series at all (eg. Spawn and the Star Wars characters).
I think that in future Soul Calibur needs to either drop guests or be more careful about how they're used. The guests tend to be the only things that get promoted pre-release for Soul Calibur games, which other games that have guests don't tend to do. The pre-release hype for Mortal Kombat 9 wasn't dedicated entirely to the presence of Kratos for example.
Cortex should take a 12-step plan off a 10-step pierI don't know about you, but Link introduced me to Soul Calibur and I'd love to see him return (with plenty of buffs, of course).
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI'm sure we've been over this before, but what introduced you guys to this series? For me, it was a preview disc for the Game Cube. I'd bought it specifically for the demos of Viewtiful Joe and chiefly Sonic Adventure DX. SCII was included as an extra to the 4 demos already on the disc. Only Nightmare and Cassandra were playable, but a couple other characters were opponents, and the fights were on a couple stages. I fell in love with the aesthetic, character designs, music and stage layouts, and I hadn't had a weapon fighter, or any good 3D fighter before.
Ah... Cassandra. Not one of my top 5 characters, but I still really like her. Loved her in II.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyPlayed the SCII demo at Toys R' Us in Times Square.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Picked up II at a GameStop. Took me awhile to figure out the controls, thanks to the dumb code they use in the tutorial, but it grew on me.
i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, babyII happened to be released on the Game Cube, the only system (from that generation of consoles) we had at the time. I missed the first game despite owning a Dreamcast when it first came out, so getting to play II was pretty awesome. Link's presence was just icing on the cake (although I mostly played Cassandra and honestly felt like they both had similar play-styles at time).

My friend had a copy of 3, and I really dug it.
every little word and every little step,What console?
Also, You bought a game before you were sure if you were interested in the series? That's kinda foreign to me.
It seems that so far, many of us had SCII on GC as our gateway drug game.
Not me. My first Soul game was the Dreamcast one.
What is a fandom? A miserable little pile of flame wars! 3DS FC: 0387-9377-7408 PSN ID: Raven King SageXBox; it was used. Also, that's what the back of the box is for. Or was for.
i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, babyI'd generally try to rent or demo games first, back when I still bought them on consoles. To each their own.
Man... The SC/II/III golden days...
I wonder if this series is too melodramatic to pull off a Motor Kombat or [[Tekken Ball acid trip]] minigame.

and Ashlotte was referenced (abit not by name) in Astaroth II's bio.
Actually, Astaroth II's bio, which is on New Legends of Project, which you don't want for some reason, says this from page 88:
Seventeen years ago, the giant Astaroth gained self-awareness and rebelled against the Order, reducing it to a pitiful handful of faithful. The core of this past Astaroth had been carried to this place by a mechanical maiden created by the priests of Venus and Mars
Mechanical maiden, who could that be? Moving along...
Here's Ashlotte's bio in p. 114 (no picture due to license issues):
Ashlotte Maedel
Ashlotte is a mechanical executioner doll created by Kalnypolok and Kalnypalk of Fygul Cestemus. Ordered to travel west and kill the original Astaroth, Ashlotte found Astaroth already slain by Maxi's hand. Ashlotte returned to Fygul Cestemus with Astaroth's core in hand
Oh look, Ashlotte was referenced in your quoted Astaroth II bio, but not by name.
Which is exactly what I said.
Seriously, learn to read.
Also, I don't want the damn book because I don't want to give you my address because you are a creep who kept harassing me for it.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.I wasn't to correct you. I was trying to support you there. As for you not wanting New Legends of Project Soul, if you don't want my help, how are you going to get it?
Anyways, let's change the subject to avoid any further problems shall we? Here goes: Any word on what's up for the series yet, like, any word on Lost Swords aside from Sophitia in it?

I love guest characters.
Darth Vader will forever be the best five bucks ever spent on a DLC character. He should have been the only guest and if they really needed another Jedi they could have used Luke. Other than that, I disagree with guests overshadowing the canon characters. My brothers for example, love Kilik and Lizardman and don't care for Spawn or Hehachi.
Talim, Sophitia, and Cassandra became my three favorites instantly when I got bored of the guests. I love the Soul Series and its lore and I was really upset when my three favorites seemed to be forgotten in V.
"Marth likes just the tip, Lucina likes the whole thing."I don't know how big a target this puts on my back, but not only was Necrid my favorite character in Soul Calibur 2, but I wish we could get a spinoff story where we can build on however Talim sensed the humanity inside him.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great
If you mean me, I didn't mean to suggest that IV was completely devoid of story identity.
That's not shallow at all. That's what got me into the series.
