I liked Temple of Doom myself. I remember I was 8-9 when the OT was re-released as the Special Edition and wondered what the point of it was. Then I saw the improvements made to the Battle of Yavin, and I was blown away. I think ANH got the best improvements (Except for the reinserted Jabba scene. I find Greedo shooting first to be hysterical because after Han guns him down, there's this shot of an alien who's scratching his head in a "WTH just happened?" manner).

I think the fourth film is the worst after revisiting them all but I thought it was still entertaining.
I don't really get why people hate the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The plot got an update and they may have went a bit overboard on the CGI. It's not that worse from the other movies, and I prefer it over the Temple of Doom. (Screw you Shortround and Winry!)
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Temple of Doom was always my favorite of the original trilogy when I was younger.
Also, I prefer the changed ending of Return of the Jedi. "Victory Celebration" is a much better piece than "Yub Nub."

Fanfiction I hate. That it is. Not all the changes were bad.
My Blog: Read and enjoy! My Blogcritics PageIf he gets rid of the CG alien band in Jabba's palace in ROTJ, I'll be perfectly fine with all the other edits (most of which I don't even notice).
Agreed. I prefer the 'Yub Nub' song over the newer piece of music, but I vastly prefer the 'celebrating galaxy' over the contained scene with the Ewoks. I've always liked the Ewoks, personally, but the newer cut shows off the sheer scope of the events in the film and the saga in general.
https://www.facebook.com/emileunmedicatedanduncutMost of the changes made in the special editions I actually kind of enjoy, at least from a thematic standpoint. Adding more things in the background, the speeder-car entry into Mos Eisley and even Jabba's band are there for world building and furthering the mood. I initially was just kind of curious about the "Han Shot First" thing, and I still am, but I can understand why everyone got upset over that. The one thing I am not fond of in any way is inserting Hayden Christensen as a force ghost in Return Of The Jedi, largely because it doesn't make sense thematically and it is taking out the performance of the previous actor. I can kind of understand replacing the Emperor in The Empire Strikes Back just for the sake of continuity (although the original was rather blurry and doesn't break it that bad), but Sebastian Shaw is the adult Anakin, period.
Odd, that was something I really liked personally, as I thought it made sense. To me.
Read my stories!I hate the revision to the entry to Mos Eisley, after they get past the storm troopers there's this bit where he's inserted extra cgi creatures and that would be fine if they were in the background or around the shot. Instead I just get a dinosaur's arse wiggling in my face while this large set they build in the desert to help bring a sense of reality to the scene just goes to waste.
I like the older Anakin being the ghost, mainly because it says that a) Darth Vader was Anakin all along, and b) there are consequences for Anakin's choices. Also, the fat friar look weirdly works.
ophelia, you're breaking my heartThe Prequel!Anakin ghost is too informed by the prequels. If we hadn't seen them, we'd have no idea who we're looking at. Original!Anakin also looks like a peaceful Jedi knight, rather than someone we remember as being whiny and going off the rails a lot.
Swordsman Troper — Reclaiming The Blade — Watch6x: "Agreed. I prefer the 'Yub Nub' song over the newer piece of music, but I vastly prefer the 'celebrating galaxy' over the contained scene with the Ewoks."
It's just as well the shots of celebration on Coruscant cut away before we see ten legions of Storm Troopers move in and massacre everyone, isn't it?

That'd actually be kinda funny in a "What The Fuck" sorta way. All that celebrating and then just streams of blaster fire coming from all sides.
Its a reference to the EU, where the celebration was broken up by stormtroopers.
Oh. Ok. I thought it was a snark thing.
Read my stories! And the guy who says "stand by" before the Death Star blows up.
And that one guy who's on the Millennium Falcon in the background during the Battle of Endor.
Fanfiction I hate.I saw something that said Admiral Ozzel in The Empire Strikes Back was supposedly a Rebel sympathizer, which was why he supposedly got the Imperial fleet out of lightspeed close enough to alert the Rebels. What was wrong with Vader's conclusion that "He was as clumsy as he was stupid!"? And this is the fans that thought this up, not George Lucas.
Another thing I've seen said about Lucas was back in 2004. There was this article about him, noting how he started his own company to step away from the big studios, though today, it's made him the head of his own big studio, noting something along the lines of "I guess the Vader suit is comfy". And that made me think "Vader doesn't wear the suit because he likes it. He wears it because it keeps him alive!".
But isn't the analogy that Lucas is in the position of power that Vader was?
The part that said "The Vader suit must be comfy" was what stuck out the most to me. This was an article written back in 2004, so I don't remember the exact words.
Another Lucas bashing thing (why they can't make some thing and not shuck to someone others fame and unfame, like leeches). Another Lucas bashing tread from spawned from this (and I was allways asking why TV Tropes have reputation of haters den).
Well I GL and love work. Prequels are awesome, last Indy move to (little less just like Indiana moves are less cool than SW). Edit of Original Trylogy is great to (with exeption of 3 things).
I like using made up words like "Younglings" and that nobody explain this on screen. Because that build world and verse. Made words, places, thing, people and no character explain this because its normal thing for them. And that was long before prequel, classic trylogy was full of them.
Hmm if you think about this: Midichlorians scene could be much better if cut eplanation for them. (BTW I like midiochlorians.)
Because he know I'm going to go out in this plane and I'm going to remove one of His creations from His universe.
I enjoyed Crystal Skull as well; it didn't reach the heights of Raiders or Last Crusade, but I'd watch it rather than Temple of Doom any day.
