The wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up mire and mud. There is no peace for the wicked.

No Rest for the Wicked is a Steven Universe fanfic written by Kookywood and Jade Thunderhoof.

Spin off of Steven Universe fanfic No Rest For The Weary, that takes place in an alternative future. In this fanfic the Reader was taken to Homeworld by Blue Diamond without knowledge of Crystal Gems. There they are put on a trial and are sentenced for many years in prison. Will they manage to keep their sanity and return to Earth?

The fanfic can be read on Quotev here and Wattpad here.

This fanfic provides examples of:

  • Bad Future: An alternative future of the Reader from "No Rest for the Weary".
  • For Want Of A Nail: The biggest difference is, obviously, the presence of the Reader during the events of the series. It makes these events play out quite differently. One of themes of the fanfic is Reader’s ability to time travel, which affects not only the events presented in the series, but also those that took place long before them.
  • From New York to Nowhere: Reader was forced to move to Beach City, because they were on probation after being falsely accused, and the local school was the only one, that took them, despite their criminal record.
  • Original Character: Homeworld Gems that guard the Reader. (Homeworld Jasper, Homeworld Ruby, Homeworld Amethysts, Homeworld Peridot, Peridot 5XT)
  • Shrouded in Myth: Reader for Homeworld Gems. They’re known as “Pink Diamond’s Favorite Human”, “The Eminence” and “The Human who sold the Earth”, they have over three hundred reports about them. Homeworld Gems considered them to be the ruler of the Earth.
  • Stay with the Aliens: Just like in "No Rest for the Weary," Reader stays with aliens, only this time as their prisoner.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: After being sentenced, the Reader is imprisoned and will likely never come back to Earth. Reader: I’m never going back to Earth, am I? Blue Diamond: I’m afraid it’s unlikely. Please, forgive me.
