Makes sense to me. The examples are already soft-split and the "lesbian cop" part of the description is its own paragraph, so it isn't even a difficult split...
132 is the rudest number.I can't think of any good reason to keep the two together.
Jet-a-Reeno!Looks like an easy split and it's clear they're different. Split and make sure they link to each other.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickAi ai Captain, split the article.
If we are all okay with a split, can someone give me a pointer for the amended write up of Lesbian Cop (and is that okay as a title?). I can't write up summaries to save myself.
bumping this.
Can anyone do the write up? I suck at writing trope descriptions or I would do it myslelf, but every trope description I've ever written has needed someone else to clean it up-rewrite it for legibility.
bump again
A starting point, based on the existing writeup:
A female police officer who is a lesbian.
This trope, of course, can be open to Unfortunate Implications; namely, the idea that certain activities and occupations are 'reserved' for men and that any women who choose to partake in them are automatically more 'masculine' (and thus in turn inclined to homosexuality) than those who don't. There is an element of Truth in Television, as naturally some of the women in these occupations (now that they allow women) are lesbians; but this doesn't equal that all lesbians are in traditionally 'male' occupations or that no straight women are.
See also Lesbian Jock, a trope that exists for similar reasons and has similar pitfalls.
Lesbian Cop has now been split.
The Lesbian Jock page lists both Lesbian Jock and Lesbian Cop as subtropes (both of which I think are valid tropes) but I think they are sufficiently different to justify splitting into their own proper tropes. They both have enough examples. I'd also support a different page image because that one already there is pretty poor.
The main difference (apart from the obvious job description) is that Lesbian Jocks tend to get played more for comedy, or certainly a lighter and more upbeat style. Lesbian Cops are played more for drama with darker stories and tend to have much more forceful personalities.
What other tropers think?
