He needs to kill a Mech boss to get the Steampunker first, though.

Well, a Hellevator still helps a lot. If you don't have anything to protect against falling damage yet, just put some water at the bottom of the shaft.
If you put water in the Underworld, it will evaporate. Use honey instead.
Alternatively, the water can work if the shaft ends just before the Underworld and the player has to move a bit laterally to get into the Underworld proper. Mostly saying this because hard mode Jungle can be pretty brutal and he might not have acquired honey before killing the Wall.
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiAgain, it's a long way down because I make fresh worlds to farm the Wall of Flesh. Since hard mode isn't going to make farming it vastly more difficult I made just run a developed world with a Hellavater already set up.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984So, how much harder is expert mode compared to normal?
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...Rotpar: That's usually the most efficient way to do it. Unless you've got some really serious mining gear, redigging every time is a pain, even in a small world.
Kyler: The difficulty increase is almost entirely in the bosses and invasions. Starting out is maybe a bit more dangerous too, since getting hit is penalized more harshly, but a seasoned player shouldn't have trouble with slimes and zombies. Barring Wall, the normal mode bosses get interesting enhancements (King Slime is really fun now instead of being a joke) and pattern changes that tend to make them more challenging and interesting. Wall's changes make it marginally more challenging, but not really more interesting. Most of the hard mode bosses just receive stat buffs with a tweak here and there to try to circumvent the cheesier tactics. Fishron is probably the most notable change because he can stealth. Oh, and I guess it takes a bit more effort with damage gear to make the Minishark as helpful as it is in a normal world.

IRL
Good thing we're not in hardmode.
Alright, time to kill some blood zombies and dripplers so I can get a nifty storage that I can summon anytime...
...ehehJust a Blood Moon? C'mon, at least give us a Solar Eclipse or Martian Invasion for decent loot!
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshi...I think my little brother just found a strange glitch in mobile Terraria: A walking goldfish happened to stumble into some particularly sloped terrain, sunk a little...and spun. If anyone has ever seen this before, please tell me. Not that I want this fixed, I just wanna see if anyone else found it.
Famous last words of many a kerbal: MOAR BOOSTERS!!!Actually, I found video: [1]

Famous last words of many a kerbal: MOAR BOOSTERS!!!Slopes have always been a bit buggy. That looks like just a visual glitch, since unlike with hoiks the entity isn't moving around.
Just beat Moon Lord. Wat do nao?
Famous last words of many a kerbal: MOAR BOOSTERS!!!Now play Expert Mode and beat them all again.
Then go collect all the weapons and items.
Then make a beautiful giant fortress.
To-do list: Do more fishing.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Already started a bit on a fortress waaay before Moon Lord, so that should be interesting.
Might be a little hard to expand it some, since my brother decided a giant hole was the best way to stop the hallow. It didn't work too well. The only thing that stopped it was some lucky clay. Now what was I talking about?

Famous last words of many a kerbal: MOAR BOOSTERS!!!To stop spread you need to make loads of hellevators around the world. Preferably 5 wide and lined with wood/clay/ash
...ehehYeah...he didn't exactly get the memo on that.
Although now that I think about it I could capitalize on it by making a floating base, but maybe with a bit more terraforming.
Famous last words of many a kerbal: MOAR BOOSTERS!!!I like how I had around 15 buffs in the fight and barely scraped through, but my little brother managed to beat him with 420 health and a Piranha Gun. I don't even.
Famous last words of many a kerbal: MOAR BOOSTERS!!!O_O
How did he manage that? Does the piranha gun stop locking on once the eyes temporarily close?
...eheh@The_Mattias
Drown the world in honey!

I asked him about the specifics today, and he said that he used Spectre Armor & Magical Harp a little, and the strategy he used was basically a nurse cheese. And with the eyes, he said that sometimes the Piranha would come off, and other times it would stay on doing ticks of 0 damage. Still kinda impressive tho, even if he used buffs.
Famous last words of many a kerbal: MOAR BOOSTERS!!!It's worth noting that Mine Cart strats can let one beat Moon Lord practically without getting hit, since getting too far never despawns him and he has no time limit. So, as long as one's weapon has a decent enough range, even if its damage is fairly crappy, one can cherry tap him to death.

Do you have a Hellevator? If you do, you can lay the wire between a pair of teleport pads as you're falling. It will take two or three falls to fill in all the gaps, but as long as you've got a magic mirror to take you back up, it's not too bad.
