Alright, alright, settle down. It was just my opinion. Jeez. If you guys like Egypt, how am I to disagree*?

As Crystal said but failed to put into words, a made-up place would garner world building which would take away focus on the characters, which isn't exactly ideal.

Egypt is okay if you really like it. I'm not going to base my participation off of the darn setting—rather thee fact that it looks like none of my characters really fit into the mold needed. They're either office workers, drug addicts, or ambitious, ambiguously evil rich guys.

Of course, you didn't really need to know that last bit. *shrug*

But I would really like to participate in a non-casual thread, and I don't know how long this thread will last (these threads look like they last at least a month long, usually longer.)

I'd honestly say that sounds like an excellent fit for Dig Site, actually.

That settles it then! I shall join Dig Site, I just need some inspiration for motives and then that's it! :D

Although it'd be nice to know your reasoning, if only for the enjoyment of reading your reason.

I decided not to bring Adam for Dig Site. Instead, I'm going to bring his dad (George), Nick's dad (Thomas), and John (Thomas' younger fraternal twin).

Since it's Egypt, I already know which character to bring, since the one I'm using has an actual reason to go to Egypt.

All right, I've decided on a character for the dig site. I. . . just need to figure out a name for him.

I've got the same issue, actually. I've got two characters geared up to go, but I've yet to pin one of them down with a name. He's a regular person too, so not having a name would be odd.

Well, it's not like we never had a made up place before and I don't think that's what people ever complained about. But then again, when does my argument ever go through? I'll just hope there will be enough flexibility with the setting.

Just don't impose limits on yourself and complain about it later because you assume something is unacceptable in the setting. If you're really unsure about something, ask here.

Well, aside from worldbuilding, what can you do with an expy of Egypt that you can't do with a fictional Egypt itself?

Not having to care about political correctness?

Again, where is everyone in Cruise? I know I've done my part to cause the slowdown, but still.

To be honest, the Expy can often come across as more offensive than a depiction of the real thing.

I'm here but...I still don't really have anyone to talk to. I thought I'd wait for Neko LLX to make a statement about the arcade or something before we started a conversation, but even he/she's missing now. And Michael's not gonna wake up for half an hour. So...yeah.

I've responded to the Ambassador. Samuel is probably taking a nap.

Jonathan and Haruka are going to the restaurant. Robert is going swimming. Gabrielle's going to the museum. Andrew is still at the front deck, and Cain is sleeping.

Edit: Now I've put some thought into this, I don't really mind Egypt. Any kind of Egypt, even a Suspiciously Similar Substitute of Real Life Egypt would be fine.

@Elfhunter: Kazuko went in the arcade in my last post, so if Neko LLX has disappeared, you could have your character strike up a conversation with her instead.

I'm not sure it's the drill. The Casual threads just haven't had much sizzle since Resort closed.

Maybe, but the drill disrupting things can't have helped matters.

I think Resort was more an aberration than the norm, anyway. It makes me wonder whether we've been trying too hard with some of these more recent casual threads.

I'd like to post again in Cruise, half to bump the thread up and half to add more content and possibly inspiration, but that would mean double-posting. >_>

Okay, seriously, folks, what's going on? If not with Cruise, then with Dig Site?

RE: Dig Site: It seems that we're pretty much agreed on Dig Site and are just waiting until Friday to start it — though I personally have no objections to an earlier start, that's the scheduled time. At the very least, Tera has the OP ready, and I for one have an intro post prepared for my characters. (Kinda glad I had time to edit and clean it up, truth be told.)
