Our hero, who is from the late 1800s and works for a Time Police organization, has traveled back in time to the 1500s to stop an unknown meddler from messing with the timeline around that time. She has broken into a place where the meddler has been discovered to live and is searching for their time machine — an ally, who is native to the 1500s and unaware of time travel, is guarding the door. She absently begins humming a Salieri piece... and her "ally" who is "from the 1500s" and "unaware of time travel" says that line and pulls a very modern gun on her, revealing that he is, in fact, the meddler.

Upon arriving back from Walpugusnauct of '65, where he strangely couldn't find the robed figure, he hears this line from behind him and turns to see Bob in a robe.

[up][up][up] Craig is an immortal being who has fucked around with stuff that led to huge disasters, including the horrific flooding of Walpugusnauct of 1965. An organization akin to the Men in Black and the SCP Foundation has tracked him down in the modern day, where he is trying to live a low life as some weird ass hippie. When two of the organization's agents tries interviewing him about his past, he refuses to answer until one of the agents asks him if he knows the truth behind the Walpugusnauct flooding. There, he breaks down and confesses.

Our heroes are a pair of lifelong friends about to graduate from an incredibly prestigious high school with insanely high academic standards. One of them had begun taking an interest in pursuing an education in political science and law enforcement, and as such began having less and less free time as they focused on their grades, while the other began slacking off more and more as a means of coping with the intense pressure and expectations placed on them. The principal, who has been nothing but encouraging and supporting of their students, calls in the slacker several times throughout the year, telling them some stories about some students who couldn’t handle the stress but suddenly had a breakthrough that helped them cope with the stress and excel. At the end of the school year, the slacker gets called in one last time, where the principal begins talking a bit more cryptically, and when those “students” who the principal told the stories about walk into the principals office grinning like madmen, the principal drops that line while sporting a wicked Slasher Smile.

The beginning of the end of a perilous quest of a man who became an adventurer after finding his young daughter turned to stone. The "something" here is a way to bring her back to life. Upon finding an expert in the field of curses, he finds that the girl could be cured by a certain spell. out adventurer friend has been somewhat versed in magic and goes forth to learn, but the expert stops him, pointing out that the curse is instanced to the individual it affects and therefore the cure for it would be different each time, and that it takes a certain skill to even discern the method to cure her, when asked about it, the expert drops the line.

A week later the pair try to find any individuals with such a skill, only to fail each and every time. By the time they do find one, a second wham line emerges, the girl is dead, as the cure was a ritual that must be done under a rare astrological event, the last instance of it being a month ago. To this day the petrified deceased child stands as her own tombstone.

The protagonists are a group of survivors of a plague that decimated their colony, one of many that have been established throughout the solar system as the pinnacle of human achievement. When the crisis began spiraling out of hand, the colony had begun issuing distressed calls for much needed medical help.

In most cases the plague eventually killed the victims, but a variant begun to arise and spread, reanimating their victims. At first, they were easily contained and disposed of, but the variant kept evolving and spreading, resulting in an incident that inadvertently destroyed the colony’s ability to navigate through space, and more importantly, it’s ability to relay that necessary data to any and all incoming and outgoing ships. The explosion that caused it, while it didn’t destroy a huge chunk of the colony, was only just forceful enough to push the colony out of its orbit and slowly spin on its axis indefinitely.

Eventually, the plague variant evolved such a resilient form that it’s victims began slowly overwhelming the remaining population, forcing them to jump into any working ship and evacuate in just about any direction on the slim chance they might just be able to successfully reach any of the other colonies, or Earth. The distress calls turn into calls to look out for any ships that evacuated.

One massive ship in particular called the Astra had to remain behind, as our protagonists had elected to lure the undead onto it and eject it in the hopes of putting it on the eventual path of colliding with a large enough celestial body that would destroy the ship and all onboard it. In the process of doing this, the colony’s communications go down, and as the ships there were only capable of shorter ranged communication, it was impossible to apprise Earth and the other colonies of the plan. But, the protagonists still persevere, and the Astra is ejected with the entire horde of undead onboard. The protagonists then set out to repair the colony’s communications and inform the rest of the colonies and Earth to avoid the Astra.

That line comes in after communications with Earth are finally back up and running, just after a rescue crew forced the Astra to land and successfully opened its doors.

A cyberpunk Dystopian World where all forms of communication go through the Internet, but access is only granted by paying some insanely high price or being grandfathered in if you were born to a wealthy family, forcing the majority of the population to use much less savory means to get even the most basic forms of access. New laws are written and passed with the express intent of punishing suspects for pirating access to the internet, with punishments varying depending on how much and how often the suspect accesses the internet and remains on it. Most law enforcements departments tend to ignore it anyway and only crackdown on the usage when it's linked to something they consider much more serious.

Unbeknownst to the population at large, the mega-corps controlling access to the internet have their own hit squads they send out at their leisure, and only after every and all witnesses are killed do the squads frame the scene as something like a shootout between gangs and make an "anonymous" call to alert the police. The line is uttered when one such poor soul tries to call for help, just as the hit squad is massacring the entire block, only to find out that the corporations already knew how to cut off access to even the pirated versions and had done so just a few minutes before.
