[up][up] I have different standards I think than you do and I'm able to see higher level unification I think, but there is a point where I can look at a page and realise that it's a jumbled mess.

[up] Make it for Foot Focus 2. Ignore that the page doesn't exist. It doesn't matter.

So we just make the current page a bar bones Super-Trope? Or something eles?

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.

I think an index. There's not enough in common for a supertope. There's no trope at that level. That's why we needed to split to find tropeness.

Well we have an index. I guess merging is the best option, due to the inbounds. But we cut as many wicks as possible to fit the new tropes.

We definitely need new tropes. The existing ones don't fit all the possibilities of what a Foot Focus could mean.

This seems rather stale, so I have started a related YKTTW.

Hi. Just happened to check in and find out that this thread was active again.

I really would prefer it if Foot Focus did not become entirely about any use of feet. The word focus is there for a reason. The camera or the narrative needs to focus on them.

Furthermore, I'm not sure if we can do a perfect split*

here. Before this thread went on hiatus, I had an idea to go through and see all the different uses. I didn't finish, but I'll try to do it now.

I think we probably need a trope for when the bare feet symbolize nakedness, and the vulnerability or implied sexiness of such. The kiss/grovel at my feet trope has already been mentioned, as has the one about being thrilled at having (new) feet. Another one I noticed is one where bare feet are used to show that the person is relaxed and comfortable (often used in ads). Another is when it's done to imply a connection to the earth/make someone a hippie. Yet another is used for martial arts (though maybe that can go under something else.) It is occasionally used for actual fanservice, but I'm not sure that needs a new trope. Having to remove your shoes to go inside is commonly featured in the anime examples, but I'm not entirely sure we can salvage that as a trope.

Small feet are apparently used in art to show off femininity, and bare feet are used to imply innocence. Tickling barefeet is used as a torture device. They are sometimes used the opposite of the way a foot fetishist would—to indicate grossness, like with Cinderella's stepsisters. Or hillbilly backwoodsiness. There's showing the feet to show that they were hurt (covered under Agony of the Feet). Not sure it's it's a trope, but barefeet are used to indicate that someone just got up out of bed, too. If an alien has weird feet, it's used to emphasize their alienness—but there's probably a trope for that already. I'm also not sure if the fact that some characters/actors/directors/writers actually have foot fetishes is a trope, but it is somewhat interesting. Feet are often focused on to show dancing, and are apparently very neat things to children (not sure if the latter is a trope). It's used to indicate that someone is weird and out of touch with society. It's used to indicate poverty. Finally, there are plenty of times where it is mentioned that someone has a foot fetish, and the implications of that—usually that they are either lecherous or weird.

I'll take some time later to see if I can combine any of those. I really want to lose as few examples as possible, as long as they actually describe a trope.

Oh, and I apologize for rambling. I didn't realize it was going to be so much until I got it all written down.

None of those split pages covers what this page is about :/

Care to elaborate? What is this particular trope about?

Closeups of bare feet alone is Not A Trope. Which is why it's split into subtropes that actually have meaning.

Exactly. A trope must have a reason. What does the closeup on feet tell us? What did the writer or director intend by showing us the feet?

If all you want is a place to talk about your fetish, that's what the Fetish Fuel Wiki is about. That's why I got them to copy this trope back when they first started. I realize that some people were using this trope page to describe their fetish. Heck, that's the reason I got interested in curating it in the first place.

Barefoot Poverty has been launched. Any index ideas besides this one?

Oh, and let's see some interest here!

I can take Bare Feet Mean Nakedness through the YKTTW. I think it needs someone watching it because it's a nudity trope, even if it's one about non-explicit nudity.

Hmmmm, do we already have a trope for a character who demands others to kiss his feet to show their obedience or should we YKTTW it?

[up][up] The closest thing we got is I Kiss Your Foot. Maybe it needs a subtrope for that? Anyway, I'll take Earthly Barefoot Character.

Looks like we still have two tropes left to YKTTW and launch.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.
