Wow, I can count the wicks and inbounds almost on one hand.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.This is an INDEX. For one thing, that explains the low wicks and inbounds. For another, the name was chosen for alliteration, not accuracy. Besides, non-superhero comics tend to be far more general than the tropes here, so it would just be Costume Tropes for one medium.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I agree. Common Superhero Costumes is the correct name.
Ukrainian Red CrossDQZ: That's why the idea is to rename to match the title up with the trope, not to expand the trope to match the title.
No, it's not a trope. That's my point. I wrote it up just as a plain, old index. It's a sub index of Costume Tropes, not a trope itself.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Okay, then index. Either way, it describes superheroes, which can originate in any medium, not comic books. Alliteration doesn't trump basic accuracy.
Well on a side note, I hope you take that stance on actual tropes that have misuse (because I do).
But I should add those notion of those costumes on heroes did originate with comic books, and any non comic hero following that was because the notion was codified by comics and their adaptations.
Also, these aren't just for superheroes, for as little as that means.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Oh, and we can still keep the alliteration. Standard Superhero Styles work?

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Standard Superhero Suits work.
Ditto too.
We could probably shorten that to Standard Super Suits.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.No, this is clothing worn by superheros, not any suits that are super.
Also, I prefer "Styles", because this covers parts of costumes as well, not the whole outfits.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Isn't Costume to Suit the Equivalent Exchange? Costumes are overall ensembles of clothing described by pieces, as are suits. Also, the use of "suit" is a superhero context is used to refer to the same thing as "costume" in the same context.
Also, "style" is the overall mode. Batman is dark, blue and gritty, Superman is bold and bright, in their styles. Their costumes have capes.
"Style" singular has that context, but "Styles" plural refers to both clothing and form. Plus it would fit tropes relating to those costumes that are abut the "mode".
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.bump, there still plans to change the name?
Perhaps, although I still have reservations about getting nitpicking over superheroes and comics. Changing the words will not change the mentality.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Superheroes are not limited to comic books, and comic books also had "standard cowboy costumes", and "standard detective costumes" and "standard villain costumes".
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Y'know, if DQZ would just say ok to "Standard Superhero Suits" we'd hve unanimous consensus and could move forward. Just has to say "yeah, it's ok, I guess".
Cough.
No pressure or anything.
"Styles" also cover hair, fingernails, cars, etc. I support Standard Superhero Suits. Clear, to-the-point, and includes the overrated-but-harmless alliteration.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. It doesn't need to be unanimous. It's obviously enough for consensus.
I'll frakking change it tonight.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.
...not a comic book trope.
Just another one in the history of over associating superheroes with comic books, ignoring the other genres which call the medium home, ignoring the escape of superheroes onto other media for decades as well as ignoring the impact that these media have had on the tropes and damaging our efforts to keep the trope-nature of genres and media clear and distinct. Rename on the basis of factual wrongness.
