Since this thread has sort of died, let me summarize my position.
The current definition of The Good, the Bad, and the Evil is "an Enemy Civil War that occurs when one faction of the antagonists crosses the Moral Event Horizon, prompting another faction that's A Lighter Shade of Grey to declare that Even Evil Has Standards and turn on their former allies".
The examples don't really fit that description, though, so I want to redefine the trope to fit the usage: a Mêlée à Trois between a "good" faction of Heroes, a "bad" faction of Anti-Heroes or Noble Demons, and an "evil" faction of out-and-out Villains. This may involve an Enemy Civil War between the "bad" and "evil" factions, or an Enemy Mine situation where the "good" and the "bad" temporary ally against the "evil", but not necessarily.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. From the description, my understanding is this is "when a group of villains who turned into an Ensemble Dark Horse get a 'Protagonist Promotion' and are now good guys, or at least not the main bad guys, so now we can root for them without feeling bad."
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)That definition makes much more sense.
